which settings should I change to affect the WU vs. Gh/s ratio?!? Where can I learn about the specifics of each setting?
That's exactly what tweaking is all about. Just play around with your settings and try and find the sweet spot between KH and WU.

So I have a rig running (4) XFX R9 290s for about 3.5mh/s. I was just wondering what are the optimal cgminer settings for these 290s. Right now they are all running around 83-84 degrees, is this too hot or are they suppose to run this hot?
My settings are: GPU: 1000 Mem: 1350 Intensity: 20 fan speed ~75%. (auto)
You can up the fan speed to 85%, but don't go above that. Are you are getting 875kh/s with each (that's pretty good)? What's your WU like? And for your question, 83-84 is ok-ish, under 80 is good. Did you undervolt?

My card has normal setting and uber setting dual bios. Should I be using the normal or uber mode bios?
If memory serves me right, uber settings is just overclocked speeds, so for mining, it's completely useless since we adjust the speeds anyway via afterburner or the likes, in order to find the optimal settings that fits us. So to answer your question, it doesn't matter, but I'd personally start with the normal mode.

The best tip I can give you is to play with your settings, all of them, until you find the ones that give you the most WU. Start by tuning your TC (should be a multiplier of your shaders +1 - usually, mine is just a multiplier of the shaders) as well as your gpu-threads and after this move to worksize. Your next step is to up your mem clock until you see a decline in KH/s and then turn it down a notch. Then go tune the gpu core, some cards will like it faster, others will like it slower, same deal here, tune it until you see a decline in performance, and than take back a notch. I recommend you do this all in stock voltage, and only after you find settings you like, undervolt it. Or you could always try and copy others settings, or at the very least, start tweaking from there: https://litecoin.info/Mining_hardware_comparison

Add CoinMine.pw, please. http://www.coinmine.pw/https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=406178.0I don't make auto sell. It's LOSE-LOSE scheme and almost always users stay disappointed. Cryptsy has auto-sell option, so it's simple to make it yourself and it costs 0.1% only! I don't understand why no one don't see CoinMinePW. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) I have made best multi coin pool any one dreamed (ok, I have dreamed about such pool) last several years. It perfectly works, it's 0% fee now, it actively developing to make perfect every byte code. Any one can send me suggestions and get pool he dreamed last years. Almost everything is possible to code now. But almost no one just don't see it. (thanks guys who supports me and write something like: --- Honestly, I would change much to your website because it's straight to the point and fast. I've been on graphical multicoin miners but it can be confusing, laborious and too graphical. --- If you built this pool software/web site by yourself "My Hat is Off to You" as we say in Amerika! It resembles nothing else out there!! Most pools use those "cookie cutter" Pool Software packages leaving a lot to be desired! I LOVE your Multi-Pool setup! I come in, check to see which coins look good for mining at that time and "Click/Click/Click" I switch that quickly! Very well done! --- Ok. Stop whining, it time to add some more futures! ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) PS: List is really good. Well, you need to think about the majority of miners out there. Take me as an example: Even though I spend most of my time infront of a monitor, I really don't wanna do it staring and looking for most profitable coins, so that after it I'll mine until they aren't profitable (which also requires constant checking) and than I need to send em to my Cryptsy wallet, which also takes time, only to sell it for a coin of my choosing, which can also take a while (depending on your settings), and after that send it back to my own wallet. All of this, might yield more money (not by a lot though) but would consume excessive amount of time IMO, so when you compare it to auto trading pools like MiddleCoin, it just ain't worth it. I rather set my miner to a pool and get paid in 1 coin only, don't care what coins it's mining as long as the profit is to my satisfaction. If this doesn't make much sense to you than know you aren't alone. I am a programmer in nature and when I did my first UIs, I made em very very functional, BUT, they were completely NOT user friendly, which made common users skip my program. Took me a while to understand that it all comes down to how simple AND smart you make it.

Excellent list! Nicely done.
Just need to space out the table a bit.

Anybody? Maybe some settings with cpu in BIOS?
Try Windows 8.1 if you haven't already. BTW, why you using the x1 and without molex? You got 3x PCI-e x16 connections, you could easily utilize 2 of em with enough room in between.

hello, i want to start mining with a antminer U1, wich currencie to mine? and is it recommended at all?
luke
99% of the time it's BTC... not to many options in the SHA-256 department. But ye, as the poster above me said, use Coinwarz, and in any case, remember that what you see there can and will change in the blink of an eye, so even if you do find some SHA-256 that's more profitable than BTC you gotta keep in mind that it's value will drop very quickly (cause thousands of GH/s are on their way to mine it and cash it - inflation), so cash out ASAP.

Yes, the case was right next to a heat vent?!? I've moved it now. But, I don't know anything about how to tweak the configuration. Is there anywhere I can go to find out more? Any help would be great. Thanks!
Check here: https://litecoin.info/Mining_hardware_comparison/raw_dataSee what mimicking some of those configs gives you (obviously use those that fit your card, which you never told us btw, only that it's from the 4800 series).

All people who are saying that cloud server mining is not working, they never did it or they are doing it and don't want other people to know about it. Cloud server mining is very profitable and you can make a lot of coins, specially when new promising coin comes out.
No you can't. This is borderline of scam what you're doing. What you're driving people to do is invest 10$ to mine coins worth 8$ under the pretense that it will be profitable once/if the coin gains value. If that's the case, people should just invest those 10$ in buying 10$ worth of coins.

whoops, sorry about that.. using version 3.5.0 of cgminer.
Okai than, have you got the latest drivers for your card as well as SDK v2.9? TBH, with that card, I don't think you'll see 3 digits KH/s... not sure if it's even worth trying. Starscream, thanks for the guidance. I updated the drivers as you suggested, and ended up getting about 160+ Kh/s (thats better than nothing): ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fi650.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fuu229%2Fericisback1%2F2014-02-07_111113.jpg&t=663&c=vEmSTjQtIcJU7w) The extra worker put my total hashes over 1 Gh/s. Thanks again. I learned a lot, and hopefully I can use the info, going forward. You should definitely tweak your configuration. Your cards are running hot and your WU is considerably lower than your KH/s (should be ~90% of your KH/s).
|
|
|
I get a 872kh/s average and my WU is around 820/m. Is that normal?
The ratio is normal, yes. Your WU should even be slightly lower. What card are you using?

http://imgur.com/l1O4s0oThis is the error that comes up when I start the miner. New mining rig, have not been able to mine yet because of this. Have Catalyst 13.xx installed and have tried on both cgminer 3.7.3 and an older version like the one in the screenshot, all say the same. The GPU works fine with games and benchmarks so it must be something with the cgminer. Tried using GUIminer's cgminer aswell, nothing happens there either. Reduce your TC or add more RAM.

From what I gathered it could be numerous reasons: - Bad configuration
- Internet connection
- pool
- hardware
Thing is, I just got my R9 290, Asus reference card with Hynix mem, and I've been playing around its settings for over a day now, but no matter what configuration I'm using, I get around 10% reject. Currently I'm at 911/1250 with 1.023v, trying to get the best KH/w performance (and getting about 205w from wall for the card itself with 820KH/s with 750 WU). Also, my rig is connected via wi-fi (no way to get cable there) and I'm mining at middlecoin. Ideas?

It's better if you do use the risers to ease on your mobo (less current goes though it = less chance of frying your mobo) , so yes, power the risers.
As for your second question... if your PSU doesn't have enough PCIe power connectors for all your GPUs, than yes, obviously use it.

I'm trying to mine some litecoin using cgminer and a Radeon HD 4800 card; however, cgminer can't recognize my card. When I run cgminer -n I get this: ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fi650.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fuu229%2Fericisback1%2F2014-02-06_174725.jpg&t=663&c=lQn3XD8n46lgQg) Not sure what I need to do now. Any help would be GREAT! Sorry for the rookie question. Can the card be used to mine? Thanks. I'm guessing you're using latest version of cgminer? If so, than download version 3.7.2 or older. New versions don't support gpu mining...

Demand makes it a special case ![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif) Really? You think demand for miners outstrips an iPhone launch? Hahahaha, this comment made me laugh ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) +1 to you sir.
