"Some large exchanges have mining pools for faster confirmation"

This is exactly the type of centralization I'm voicing concern about. Isn't there an obvious conflict of interest if CEX's use in-house mining pools to add their own txs to the blockchain? What happens when these exchanges form a consortia? This work-around doesn't seem to lead us down a sustainable path...

I bet you it won't work. Mining requires hash rate to confirm transactions and create new Bitcoins. This hash rate is usually higher depending on the computation power of the computer you are using. Because the faster the miner's node setup can find hashes that that fit in the block, the faster you can proceed to computing the next hash problem. Now of course setting this up will require large sum of money especially if you are to run a pool .

Aside that if centralized exchanges should try to centralize Bitcoin, the will end of losing because the will be doing us the the people transacting good by confirming transactions with low fees for us and also be losing Because of the electrical cost of running the pool.
782  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Excessive Bitcoin fees on: February 12, 2024, 05:48:34 PM
From the look of things right now, Bitcoin is progressing when it comes to fees. During late periods of last year to very early this year, Bitcoin fees were drastically high due to conjestions caused by ordinals.
However as I type, Bitcoin fees have come so low to an average of about 24sat/byte for normal fees which would arrive between periods of an hour to 30 minutes.

What will happen when only large institutions can afford to use Bitcoin's blockchain, due to rising fees? Won't this centralize the network if most can only trade bitcoin on centralized exchanges?

If the network is conjested, fees on centralized exchanges will also increase. So theoretically they still can't control transaction rates since miners are the ones who confirm transactions not exchanges although some large exchanges have mining pools for faster confirmation.

784  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A blog about someone planning to retire early with Bitcoin on: February 12, 2024, 08:17:03 AM
This is a perfect explanation of how Bitcoin is the best crypto currency to withstand inflation. Many a time people are told to invest not save but they seem to get confused. Investing overtime brings about profits which in turn covers losses caused by inflation. Now Bitcoin currently is the best digital currency that could serve both as an asset and a peer to peer currency.

Someone who saved $42k in fiat would find out that in a 3 year period of time $42k won't be worth as much as it used to. However someone who bought Bitcoin worth of $42k about 3 years ago will find out that due to increase in value of Bitcoin, that amount would have been over 46k which would cover for both losses caused by inflation and still leaving  an extra amount of profit.

Bitcoin is a win win investment asset for both inflation and profit.
785  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does even freezing a customer's account curb irresponsible gambling? on: February 10, 2024, 11:21:21 AM
The undeniable fact is everyone is not the same which prevents this question from having a direct YES or NO answer. Freezing the gambling account of "Mr bob" may make him realize that he had made wrong moves and was involved in an unhealthy gambling practice.therefoe making him amend his ways.
However if same action is taken on "Mr John's gambling account, he could actually get angry an retaliate by staking even more instead of following suit like Mr bob did.
Gambling requires the ability to make the right decisions instead of acting based on emotional rush.
786  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Selling a property to play gamble on: February 10, 2024, 11:00:04 AM
Firstly I must say this is a topic I believe is quite rare but still happens. Upon seeing the topic of this post it is logical and easy to say such a person is either an irresponsible gambler or an addict or even both. Gambling is supposed to be a fun activity but it seems some people have actually taken it to be more than that which is very wrong.
Going out of your way just to stake or make gambling bets is an unhealthy practice as people are advised to gamble responsibly by staking what they can afford to lose. The reason why people stake beyond their pockets is because they have their judgement clouded their ability to recognize that they could possibly lose it all.
787  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do i handle my first gambling experience on: February 10, 2024, 05:22:13 AM
First gambling experience is usually a little different from regular experience as a gambler continues to gamble. The best way to gamble is to gamble responsibly. Now when we discuss gambling responsibly it actually goes down to discipline and prioritization. A responsible gambler should be disciplined when it comes to how they stake and even how often they gamble.

A responsible gambler should learn how to prioritize the Right things over the others to prevent unnecessary addictions and losses. Yes gambling is viewed as a fun activity and should be taken as such.
788  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Softwallets, Bumping and Cancel Feature on: February 09, 2024, 09:48:10 PM
I am quite familiar with Electrum. If you get that message what it simply means is you did not turn on the RBF feature before broadcasting the transaction. Probably you are using an older version.

Are there wallets that do not have bump fee or cancel transaction features. And what happens to such wallet during periods of high network congestion when the transaction is stuck, what can or should they do?
As for this, if you fee was too low you have two options;
Either you wait for nodes to drop the transaction which would take a long time depending on your fee. Trust me I learned that the hard way Wink . sometimes if the fees are way too small you might be so lucky that only the node network of the wallet you used didn't Purge the transaction.
Alternatively you could use the keys to access the wallet through another wallet like Electrum that supports RBF then try rebroadcasting the transaction with a higher fee.
789  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Have you met this kind of investors? on: February 09, 2024, 09:34:19 PM
do you have the opinion that lone investors who are not members of any kind of forum or community about bitcoins or cryptocurrency can still be very successful investors?
Yes such Bitcoin investor will progress properly.
Sit back and think about the earliest adopters and Bitcoin investors. Some of them are probably out there chilling and going on vacations with a lifetime retirement per say.
The main importance of being part of a forum like this is to constantly update you on security and privacy protection measures.

Like I always say;

790  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Quit gamble! Easy or Hard? Let's talk. on: February 09, 2024, 09:25:55 PM
The difficult someone faces Whenever they try to stop something actually depends on how much that thing has become a part of them. Every gamblers gambling routine is not the same with others therefore the easy for them to stop it still isn't same.
Besides, stopping gambling is not something most gamblers will do but stopping unhealthy gambling practices is definitely something worth doing.
Alot of gamblers will even be of the opinion that stopping gambling is more like telling them to stop having fun which actually sounds and seems irrational.
791  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you invest on this kind of offer? on: February 09, 2024, 09:17:56 PM
Of course accessing your air gapped wallet too frequent is usually quite stressful aside from the fact that is could also pose some risk on your funds. However when it comes to the idea of taking a loan of any form to gamble ,some persons won't fancy the idea which is quite logical to me.
Now most gambling activities always include a percentage of luck to be on your side for you to be able to make wins no matter your experience or calculations although experience and calculations or analysis also make your winning odds more favourable you just can't deny the fact that luck has a role to play.
Assuming luck coupled with little errors in the analysis of the the gambler causes him to lose the bet after taking the loan, he would actually still end up returning back to taking funds out of his air gapped wallet to pay back.
792  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is there a wallet that stores more than one crytpo on your desktop? on: February 09, 2024, 04:59:09 AM
Depends on your preference.
Exodus can hold other crypto currencies apart from Bitcoin. I guess they are open source too ,you can look up their code on GitHub.
You can get the app from their official site ;
Exodus Wallet

Mycelium is also nice however the main coin it can hodl is Bitcoin and Ethereum. But if you are searching for a nice Bitcoin wallet the best I would recommend is Electrum. Sparrow is also a nice Bitcoin wallet but I am more familiar with the Electrum interface.
793  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2 years old kids alone at home for hours, while the father goes gambling on: February 08, 2024, 09:03:54 PM
Upon first sight of this topic without even reading through, logically a vast majority of persons will definitely tag this situation as a case of gambling addiction which is understandable. Actions of such nature are what gives a majority of people the urge to conclude that gambling is a bad act which is actually not true.
It is rationally not right for someone to leave his kids for hours just to stake some money and possibly catch some fun. Yes some persons will argue the fact that he has freedom of will forgetting the fact that he being a father entails certain responsibilities which should not be ignored.
Such kids could end up in a bad relationship with their father due to actions of this nature. Gambling is supposed to be a fun activity not a job.
794  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: stop the unnecessary blame on gambling whenever you get unlucky on: February 08, 2024, 08:51:01 PM
They should be able to stop blaming gambling and choose to introspect on what they have done so that they can know that it was their fault. No one is to blame, especially since it was their money that was consciously used for gambling. But because they are greedy and want more money, they end up gambling excessively, which results in them experiencing total defeat, so they can easily blame it on gambling. Even though it is their own fault for not paying attention to the use of their money, we can't remind them because they won't want to listen to our advice.

Yes the better a gambler gets over losses the better he can manage his emotions. Naturally when people make losses they always look for something or someone worth blaming.  Just like there is a causation to every gambling loss so people tend to want to have a cause to blame when they lose but the fact is it is not a proper practice.
As a gambler one should learn to manage the emotional stress that comes with either loss or wins as both if not properly managed can affect a gambler negatively. When some persons win they can become over excited and end up making wrong decisions.
795  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What are best and secured tools to create public keys ? on: February 08, 2024, 02:31:35 PM
What are best and secured tools to create public keys ?

Is there any one who can let me know the best offline tools
for creating Bitcoin public keys.

Thanks.

Private keys and public keys are entirely two different things. Now when you create a wallet, a seed phrase is generated. That seed phrase is then used to create a master private key for the wallet. If the wallet is an HD wallet, when you make a transaction, the master private key is used to generate a child private key.

Both the seed phrase, and master private key can be used to sweep the wallet ( move all the BTC to another wallet) that is why you have to keep them as safe as possible.

Public key on the other hand can not be used to sweep a wallet. The public key is an alpha numeric combination which is used to generate addresses for the wallet. Sharing your public key is almost same as sharing your normal Bitcoin wallet address.

In the past, a few wallets even supported receiving Bitcoins using public keys but it is no longer common these days.
So your seed phrase and private keys are the ones you should keep as safe as possible you can even make use of cold wallets for a better security option.

799  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Question Regarding a Pending Transaction on: February 07, 2024, 06:22:47 PM
I just checked the transaction ID on the Mempool and it's actually not verified because the fee rate is way too low. Like damn 8 sat/byte for that amount of BTC is just too low.
The reason you can't find it on the nodes you checked is probably because it was purged due to extremely low fees.
I experienced something very similar to this sometime ago when I broadcasted a transaction with a fee of about 11sat/ byte and it was purged out of the Mempool of a majority of nodes. In fact it was only the node network of the wallet I used that even attempted broadcasting it.
Here is the thread I created when I had that issue;
[PROBLEM SOLVED] transaction hash not found
I recommend you check it out to understand better.

For example, you want to trade on exchanger but you do not want to set up your own ID kyc process.
Or you want to exchange your crypto and no kyc at all.
My service help Will be that your name will be no where.

Im looking to do this fully like everyday service and to deal with my clients Smiley

In that case I think your post will fit better in the service board. However alot of forum members here may not want to use your intended service because of trust issues ( which is actually rational and necessary).

You don't yet have a reputation for it here. I bet you no one will want to risk doing a swap with you unless you have proven trustworthy by them or other persons in the past. In such situation people here would rather prefer to carry out such deals with people with better reputation for it. Some users may even view it as another scam attempt as it is not a new thing for newly created accounts to attempt scamming others after which they can easily proceed to reopening another account with same scheme.

And Just like apogio said, if you wish to offer a genuine service of such here, kindly help people here with similar issues and as you rank up you get known for your service.
Do keep good intentions in mind.
