781  Economy / Currency exchange / [WTS] 4.18 BTC on: May 24, 2013, 03:41:11 PM
I am looking to sell my coins today. I have 4.18BTC

I am selling at Mt. Gox last plus 3%.

Payment methods I can accept:

Cash deposit at Wells Fargo
MoneyPak code
MoneyGram w/ 1% discount because of fees
Weestern Union w/ 1% discount because of fees

Ask me about other options and we can possibly work them out. I am open to negotiation.

I am also open to the use of escrow, but that is up to you. If no escrow, send the funds then I send coins.

783  Other / Archival / Re: Vircurex to remove all non-BTC trading pairs in days - WTF?! on: May 24, 2013, 07:31:49 AM
I can see this is gonna suck for a lot of people.

But, to be fair, getting a decent order filled at Vircurex is really tough. I can see their reasoning behind this. Although them trying to be sneaky about it is clearly the wrong way to approach this.

Hopefully this change will increase the volume there. If so, Vircurex can be a good option because of the ease of depositing and withdrawing. I love VouchX coupons.

So the saga continues. View the following...

I can co-sign on what shawshank & pyrex said. This saudibull character feels he is above escrow for some reason. And he thinks these bogus/vague feedback posts elevate him to the level of trusted beyond escrow.

Now everytime someone clicks that link in his sig they will see the real deal.

Good job on preventing this one before it happened.

Much praise to everyone who stepped in and to the mods for locking his threads.

Really digging the brainstorming going on here.

I have been thinking of a project along the same lines. One thing I encounter during brainstorming is the need to make the P2P exchange centralized. I feel that the best way to gain a massive audience and create a vibrate trade culture built on trust is to have the exchange setup up like a business. Management, customer support, arbitration, escrow agents as employees etc.

That's just my personal opinion. The issue with my idea is that the gov't can shut down the exchange because it would be a business. The gov't can never stop individuals from trading.

Maybe the simplest way to go about it would be to think of the current otc market concept x100 with a few tweaks. More trades but with a more simplistic design with ease-of-use in mind. Everything remains independent. To solve the escrow issue, maybe have an election here on the forums? Elect independent escrow agents who have become trusted through trades and let them charge whatever fees they choose.

Good stuff guys.

Same here. Saudibull claimed to have tens of thousands worth of alt coins and not only refused escrow, but also refused to split up very large transactions.

Watch out. He claims to have such great rep but all he has is some alt coin trades in which he some how always gets the buyer to send first and never use escrow. Not sure how he does that.

Also, and maybe most importantly, look closely at his rep thread. Notice...

-The majority of transactions are very vague
-You never see a link to the thread in which the deal originated
-Not ONE address was posted for any of the alt coins transactions to be traced

None of the above is a very big red flag for doing business with an established, trusted trader. But he has not earned that yet.

For some reason he seems to think that by not using escrow he can establish himself as trustworthy. Isn't that backwards thinking? By refusing escrow all the time you are only hurting your credibility.

Look here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=108716.60

He either seriously thinks that the members of this forum would pay him to be an escrow agent or he is just joking.

Of course he will probably just say "most of my trades are done through PM so fuck off."

This guy smells funny and I love the fact that there are two posters above me who can confirm his BS.
791  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: WTB BTC-E USD Codes for Bank Xfer, Paypal, Dwolla USD on: May 23, 2013, 02:44:18 PM
Could you do a MoneyPak card or cash deposit at a bank for a BTC-e code?
792  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Announcement: Tradehill is back on: May 22, 2013, 07:02:01 PM
Anyone know if they are really trading at $130 right now? If so then some of us need to gather up our funds and register as a small investment company to register and rape them with the exchange because there is some arbitrage to be had.

Right, right. Just like all the people waiting for their money back in this thread "raped" them.

I do hope they do the right thing and pay back those that they owe.

But on another note, why is your ignore button gold?
793  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Anyone else having delays withdrawing BTC from bitstamp? on: May 22, 2013, 06:05:44 PM
Withdrawals do lag a bit sometimes. But 24 hours seems extreme. I would continue contacting support.

795  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Question - Selling BTC for Moneypack. Possible to get scammed? They sent first. on: May 21, 2013, 03:23:53 AM
You are generally safe with MoneyPaks if they are purchased with cash. GreenDot is not too fond of refunding people and they even tell you that on the back of the MP you buy. I think the cases of MP reversals on this forum are really low as compared to other methods. An MP has one of the best combos of convenience and security when it comes to payment methods.

It is definitely better than using PayPal or Skrill or anything of the type.

But of course, it isn't a totally hard payment system so always keep that in mind.

800  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin banks? on: May 20, 2013, 12:50:31 PM
Interest would be in bitcoins not fiat.

But who knows what laws governments will dream up in the face of virtual currencies. I guess we will find out.

Bingo.

This is most important overall. Once coins become widely adopted and accepted forms of payment, that's when the game changes. The governments will take notice and conjure up specific laws aimed at virtual currencies. Right now it is just a cutesy little thing we are doing. But give it a few years and things are going to be different, and probably not for the best.

But to the original point of the thread, I think it is inevitable that we will see coin banks in the future. Humans are programmed to believe their money is safer in the hands of others. I know there are the Bitcoin purists out there that say banks are against Bitcoin period, but as our economy grows so will the number of people using coins that prefer to have them in a bank's care. And someone WILL seize the opportunity to make a profit by filing the need in the market. It is just the way things work.
