Vircurex to remove all non-BTC trading pairs in days - POSTPONED!

2. Remove any-2-any trading
Due to the lack of volume and the need to restructure our screen layout we have decided to remove all trading pairs that do not include BTC. I.e. we will be offering only trading to and from BTC in the future. All other trading pairs will be discontinued and all open order deleted.

Implementation timeframe: 25th or 26th May.

This is a fucking disaster for my bottom line. Anyone else?

0.39853893 BTC (after fees) if my asks are filled and I finish my FTC trading strategy.

0.13990478 BTC (after fees) if forced to sell my altcoins into BTC bids.

Please either cancel this implementation, or send 0.39853893 BTC to 1TBZYXjrGjXCEN1SprpF66Jzy5uN3GiLS and then close my Vircurex account/seize all the altcoins in it.

ETA: Asks cancelled. WTS SOLD my Vircurex account for 0.21 BTC, with altcoins prestocked (0.05922185 BTC less than the average of the two amounts above). No Yubikey required.

This sucks... I thought they get kickbacks from each trade that's made? This will cause there to be less trades, meaning less income for them. I really can't fathom why someone would do that. It just doesn't make good business sense.

Holy crap this is huge news. Surprised I wasn't aware of this until now (thanks OP).

That sucks. I enjoyed and had a lot of success at selling some fringe alt coins for usd on Vircurex.

The fact this hasn't been announced on the site itself is pretty bad. I would also like to register my disapproval. Wanting to sort out the screen layout is a particularly bad justification. Most of the trading pairs are hidden by default once logged in, anyway. Just don't show them on the main page, and have them as opt-in for display on a per user basis.

EDIT: To clarify, the ability to trade any/any is the major reason why I use VirCurEx, and I regard this ability as the distinguishing feature of VirCurEx. Should this ability be removed, I will be taking my custom elsewhere. I am sure I am not the only one.

This is a _sensible_ change. We don't need a hundred currency pairs.

I can see this is gonna suck for a lot of people.

But, to be fair, getting a decent order filled at Vircurex is really tough. I can see their reasoning behind this. Although them trying to be sneaky about it is clearly the wrong way to approach this.

Hopefully this change will increase the volume there. If so, Vircurex can be a good option because of the ease of depositing and withdrawing. I love VouchX coupons.

Very ugly and appears that they don't take pride in their work. Looks like something you might whip up for a small project in college just to pass the class.

So to clarify on what this thread is about.  Vicurex will delete any and all alt coins I have stored in the wallets on there site is not removed asap?

More or less you can still convert anything to anything, but if it is an alt to alt it requires two jumps:

Alt->BTC->NewAlt

And this makes sense to me, after all if there are too many weird exchange pairs, it wound't be a good thing neither for casual nor for power users...

It does make things "easier," but it also means you pay fees twice instead of just once.
