781  Economy / Speculation / Re: Looks like $6000 is just another pump and dump on: October 23, 2017, 12:35:45 PM
The top is in i guess? lower low downtrend begins!
This aint a good sign since this somehow proves that bitcoin price now is manipulated. It might be wrong but the current price movement tells us that there is an entity out there trying to seize control of bitcoin price and this entity is someone with enough influence. Probably the top has already been reached and the chance of the current movement in price is the sign of the beginning of crypto winter. For now I think it is better to sell some bitcoin now rather than buy.
782  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC to 7k before fork? on: October 23, 2017, 11:25:45 AM
I think $7000 is too high. I'm guessing the pricing would be between $6000-6500 which is fair enough though.
7000$ before the fork is too high considering that price of bitcoin now is 5913$ according to coinmarketcap. I also think that 6500$ is too much to be set as the high on prediction. Im guessing price would be between 5800$-6200$ before fork considering that people have finished buying now and is hodling their coins. For now the only thing we all can do as speculators is watch what will really happen after all, predictions is not that accurate.
783  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is the actual bounty on Bitcoin ? on: October 23, 2017, 10:32:45 AM
I would like to know if there is a site or an app aggregating the bids from the major exchanges at any given time ?
You can use coinmarketcap to know bids from major exchanges and minor exchanges as well at any given time, it is updated almost real time. If you only want to see the average of bids from major exchanges, look at preev.com and like coinmarketcap it is also updated real time. Regarding android apps, you can use blockfolio to track not just btc price but other coins as well. Still it would be a good app to use, it shows accurate profit accumulated from price movements after all.
784  Economy / Speculation / Re: What are the Chances of a Crypto Winter? on: October 23, 2017, 10:01:46 AM
I know that we are all perennial bulls in this forum (except maybe kwucduck), but we do have to consider the possibility of a crash. If after a crash, the price remains low for a long time, we may lose some of our crypto converts.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/could-bitcoins-bubble-lead-to-long-crypto-winter

Eerie similarities to 2013

A year after the block reward halving, with media buzzing about Bitcoin, and a multifold increase in price - this is not just a description of 2017 but also perfectly fits 2013. After the block reward halving in 2012, the price of Bitcoin shot up during the following year. The price increased from around $13 at the starting of 2013 to a peak of over $1200.

The reasons for this jump are manifold (including the bots  - Willie and Markus, which bought Bitcoins on Mt. Gox), but the almost 100 fold increase in price was unprecedented. The 500% increase in price of Bitcoin in 2017 appears tame in comparison. Of course, the base effect does make such 100 fold increases in price almost impossible now, with Bitcoin's market capitalization crossing $100 Bn.

This time it is different with the manipulated price back in 2013. Price increase as of the moment is genuine and is backed up by demand generated from adoption. Still, I believe that a crypto winter will soon happen for a different reason other than mt. Gox similar story. History might not completely repeat itself but the probability of another big dump which mighe be referred as the second biggest downward trend in btc history is not that high but it isn't not that low either.
785  Economy / Speculation / Re: btc value on: October 23, 2017, 09:29:45 AM
i heard that BTC is splitting up again... is it true on this?

BTC splitting up again is a fact and is boosting price greatly after all, many people wants free money from the upcoming fork on October 25. I believe that the chance of it dumping is very high considering that many will dump what they bought for getting free BTG. Even if that is the case, there is a chance that btc will go up in the next coming days after that so even if you buy now, you might still get profit from investing into btc now just remember to do it at your own risk.
786  Economy / Speculation / Re: How will Black Friday/Cyber Monday affect Bitcoin prices? on: October 22, 2017, 09:30:26 PM
I want to bring this back up to also ask:

Would it be a good idea to buy Bitcoin a few weeks before Black Friday and sell right after? Do you think I could make profit off of this?
I think that you can make gains doing your idea after all, there is a high probability of bitcoin price going up more by the end of November. Even if price doesn't move that much, there will be an upcoming fork which will give you free money that can be considered as a profit too, it might start with a value of hundreds of dollars in it's release like bitcoin cash. You might get more gains if price really did go up but either way you can just hold bitcoin when price have gone down.
787  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Breaks $6,000 Barrier, Market Cap Now Exceeds $100 Billion on: October 21, 2017, 11:40:04 PM
https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitcoin-breaks-6000-barrier-market-cap-now-exceeds-100-billion

Where's the next stop?

Nothing seems to stop Bitcoin.  Not China.  Not Jamie Dimon.  Nothing.
Probably bitcoin's next stop is 5500$, there is a chance that price wont rise more than this. If price have risen again, maybe 6500$ is the new stop. Bitcoin really can't be stopped by China since it has proven in the past that whenever Chinese tries to bring price down, it goes back up again no matter what. Jamie Dimon cannot stop bitcoin too, he is just a well known FUD maker after all. If there is one thing that can stop bitcoin, I can say it is the users who uses it now and bitcoin will stop when we lose interest in it which is very unlikely.
788  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin 6050$ on: October 20, 2017, 10:57:20 PM
Bitcoin is growing altcoins to fall lower and lower. What is your opinion of what will happen until segwit?
Its pointless to correlate altcoins price and btc price right now because it's price movements now is just based on coin's usability or demand and not just based on rising and falling btc price. Before segwit happens, I think altcoins would somehow recover a little from it's falling price, some altcoins might even go X10 depending on the news in the next coming weeks. Bitcoin on the other hand, will continue rising until 6100$ I think. This is a reachable target IMO since it is near current price.
789  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Dragonchain from disney on: October 20, 2017, 09:45:20 PM
This is what the small print at the bottom says:

Quote
The comments, views, and opinions expressed are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of the Walt Disney Company, Disney Connected and Advanced Technologies, or any affiliated companies.

So does this mean it is just someone who works for Walt Disney making a blockchain, or is it actually from the magic kingdom?
Probably that is just someone working for Walt Disney to make a coin of their own but there is a chance that they are not related to Disney at all. They might just be using the company name of Disney in order to gather many investors around. Even if that is the case, if it is true that the one who made this is affiliated with Disney, this coin will hold a lot of potential to grow in the future. If it isnt, this coin might not be worth buying and will just be another shitcoin.
790  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: North Korea threatens 'unimaginable' strike on United States on: October 20, 2017, 08:58:35 PM
North Korea threatens 'unimaginable' strike on United States
https://www.cnbc.com/2017/10/19/north-korea-threatens-unimaginable-strike-on-united-states.html

We know this will tank stocks.  What will this do to cryptocurrencies and stocks?  (South Korea and Japan are among the biggest markets for Bitcoin.)
As far as I know South Korea and North Korea have different leaders for each division and I think it will not really affect bitcoin that much. It will only affect us users of cryptocurrency if ever we are living in United States or if World War 3 started because of this threat. If the latter will not happen, this news would not help tank crypto, this event and crypto is not related to each other after all.
791  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin to be Taxed...... on: October 19, 2017, 02:05:52 PM
This is interesting could be a mass following with this. South Korea is preparing to Tax bitcoin use after the cryptocurrency's trading volume sky-rocked. This could spark a new trend s everyone battels to see how to control the life of cryptocurrency's
There is not a problem for bitcoin to be taxed but I doubt if they can really tax it fully or not. For sure there will be some way to evade tax even if it is decreed by the law to do so. Still, I do not mind paying tax to the government on cryptocurrency trading so long as they make it easier for us who use it to convert bitcoin into fiat anytime or vice versa. This thing is bound to happen sooner or later though in some countries and I expect it to be implemented soon not just on South Korea.
792  Economy / Economics / Re: How bitcoin can help for working abroad specially OFW on: October 19, 2017, 12:06:00 PM
Bitcoin/Coins.ph are so many way to make our life easier specially for OFW.
*They can use it to remit a money for their family in Philippines in a very convenient.
*Bitcoin is also way to earn extra money by using earning some satoshi or faucet.
Please share more on how bitcoin can help.
They can earn more money via bitcoins but I dont suggest doing it using faucets. They can earn much more doing other methods to earn online. Besides it being used to remit money for their family in Phippines, it can also help them ease in currency conversions from a certain fiat currency to peso. They can also use it to carry their money to and from Philippines conveniently without the risk of losing it somewhere.
793  Economy / Speculation / Re: Drug Money and the Rise and Rise of Bitcoin on: October 18, 2017, 01:17:15 PM
Ok, I know you're probably saying 'WTF man!', but here me out because it could be plausible.

I just saw the movie called 'American Made'.  It's about this pilot named Barry Seal who smuggled drugs for Pablo Escobar, and then guns for the CIA.  The thing is he made a lot of money that...  Like 'he doesn't know where to put them' a lot...  He buries bags full of cash in his backyard ffs, just like how Escobar did it.

Anyway, then I thought, it would be cool if Bitcoin was around during that time because they could easily store all that value in a USB drive.  Lol.

Then it occured to me...  Drug cartels today are bigger and better, what's stopping them from buying all the BTC they can get their hands on?

What do you guys think?
They only use bitcoin on drug related transactions as far as I know if the one they are transacting with is far away from them. When they can go meet personally to get the deal done, most of the time drug sellers and buyers meet up since it would be safer for them that way and also it is more guaranteed for them to receive their drug money and bought drugs rather than using online deepweb shops just to buy some. I also don't think that drug money and the rise of bitcoin is not related at all.
794  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin prices after 25 october on: October 18, 2017, 11:39:27 AM
I think nothing will change and that bitcoin will remain at its price range at this moment. The fork will not affect bitcoin like what bitcoin cash its just introduce but will never break bitcoin I think its just a way to diversified the market of bitcoin so they can bring the value of bitcoin lower than before.
It is impossible that nothing will change after october 25 for sure there would be price movements soon enough. Probably by that time, price will increase a bit after the said date. The chance of it jumping after the said date is neither low nor high, but the chance of it dumping is low. Therefore, price would increase after october 25 and it might continue until the end of the year.
795  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Price drop? on: October 18, 2017, 11:05:56 AM
Is there any reason why the btc price is dropping that much today? Are people scared by the hard fork or why is it dropping?
There is no special reason why btc price dropped today. Retraction of this level is normal when a lot of actions occured in the past few days. In the whole history of bitcoin and crypto, corrections are common when there are crazy price movements that have happened so people getting scared by the hard fork is not the real reason for btc's dropping price. Therefore, the chance of btc price dropping more I think is less, better hold what you got OP.
796  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: XLM and IBM collaboration on: October 17, 2017, 09:28:09 AM
Hopefully this leads somewhere. I just thought it's an xrp shitcoin double.
For sure this will lead the coin somewhere. Since it would be used by IBM to digitally convert fiat currencies with their benefactors not using crypto, XLM would have a constant stream of demand. So long as people use IBM's services, there would be a buying force that will support stellar lumens even if it goes down. For this reason, this coin still have lots of hidden potential to grow up more in the future.
797  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Stellar Lumens a good investment for long term? on: October 17, 2017, 08:38:22 AM
Obviously it's jumped 100%+ today because of the IBM partnership announcement.

I'm considering moving out of Litecoin and into Stellar.  Do you guys think there's a chance it'll head much higher this year?  Or should I just HODL my litecoin?  I'm so torn.
I think it is good to invest into stellar lumens but it is better to just hold your litecoin. It is a sleeping giant and if I were you, I would hold on to it tightly and wait for the moon to come. Litecoin has been in the market longer than stellar lumens and it has been stable for quite a while now. Who knows, maybe litecoin will pump by next week or next month. Just wait for it instead of trying to move onto stellar lumens.
798  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: WTF is going on with Stellar Lumens? on: October 17, 2017, 08:00:28 AM
XLM just had a massive pump, is this a coinmarketcap glitch or did it really pump by over 100%?

It is not just a glitch, the pump is real. The reason is connected with the current news about IBM partnering with stellar lumens to allow instant digital exchange of fiat currencies without touching crpyotcurrency itself usng stellar lumens' technology. IBM itself is a big company and because of it I see more potential on stellar lumens if it would be used as a medium to convert fiat currencies digitally.
799  Economy / Economics / Re: CHINA ban Rise and Down on: October 16, 2017, 08:54:31 PM
bitcoin price down about 1,000$ after china ban   this is logic

but less than 2 months back more than old 4,600 now without any new news why  ??
The answer to your question is pretty simple, China will not greatly affect bitcoin price anymore, that's why they stopped speaking about that, and the truth has been already found that ICO's are the only one banned by China not crypto itself. The news about China ICO ban is over and is already a closed chapter so why wait for the current news related about it? At least I expect latest news and FUDs just before or after fork but it might not be related to China. It will just be the common fake news that we see about fork and bitcoin's doomsday, etc.

Why most of the people in the forum sees bitcoin as currency that you need to spend everyday?

This is not true at all. Most people I encounter here are actually advocates of HODLing. Although I guess spenders aren't too uncommon either. Pretty much everyone here knows the potential gain of holding.
Even if that is in your case, OP still has a point that most people are just here for the campaigns bitcointalk gives and sees bitcoin as a currency to use to spend daily. Too bad for those who spend their bitcoin easily without even leaving some on their stash. It would give them a lot of gain to just hodl it then sell at point then rebuy again. Those people who leave their jobs just to join campaigns and bounties here are somewhat not sane since income on bitcoin here in this forum is not permanent.
