781  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: BitBet Stole ~$7,000 from me (10 BTC) on: December 04, 2013, 12:19:52 PM
I find it amazing that 28.6% of the 105 voters think Bitbet's behaviour is acceptable and that they shouldn't return snackman's bitcoin. They MUST have a vested interest surely.
Thank God 71.4% think otherwise.
For a while I thought the world was going mad.
782  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: mcxNOW shutting down for a period of time! on: November 27, 2013, 01:05:29 AM
McxNOW is shutting down for a period of time
Withdraw all your coins before December 20th

McxNOW has seen unprecedented growth in recent months and especially in the last few weeks. mcxNOW is a custom coded exchange built 100% by one man in C++ . This means if anything has to be modified then only one person can do it.
Unfortunately the growth has been too fast to match with the support requirement as only one person can currently do all support. This is a burden of 200 to 400 emails a day among many requests on IRC and through chat. This makes development of mcxNOW nearly impossible without neglecting valid user requests through support.
I am happy that in over 7 months mcxNOW has not been hacked or lost any coins and that the exchange has scaled well from 100 users upto a peak of about 3500 users online at once, it shows the design here is pretty good. However I never anticipated some aspects of running an exchange that are quite important (ie. support) so I need to work on this before allowing the site to grow.
I advise everyone to withdraw their coins and use other exchanges until mcxNOW returns. I will need at least one month, and perhaps as many as 3 before I can make the site live again. If you fail to withdraw coins before December 20th then you'll have to wait until the site is live again before withdrawing, whatever balance you hold will carry over. After December 20th passes a test version of mcxNOW will be put up that you can help test without using real coins, this will include the new gaming platform.
All existing mcxFEE holders will have the same mcxFEE balance when the site relaunches. I'm allowing people to trade mcxFEE up until December 20th in case they want to exit them.
I apologize for needing to do this, the stress and burden of running a successful exchange in the current way is just untenable for me now. I can barely sleep, I am getting health issues, etc. There truly is no alternative than some downtime. I apologize mainly to mcxFEE holders as they have invested in the exchange and will miss revenue in the downtime.
mcxNOW will be back and even better than before, I truly believe we have the best trading platform and cryptocommunity platform here but I need to work on these other facets before it becomes a real problem. I will use all the knowledge I have gathered over the last 7 months to make something bulletproof and easy to maintain.
Thank you for your support and hopefully we can see all of you back here relatively soon.
783  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Withdrawing BTC from MTgox 'Invalid bitcoin address, please confirm your input' on: November 26, 2013, 09:49:16 AM
12 hours since they issued me a ticket and I'm still unable to withdraw my bitcoin and I still haven't heard from them.
You're right....the Gox is useless and I won't be bothering with them any more after this.
784  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Withdrawing BTC from MTgox 'Invalid bitcoin address, please confirm your input' on: November 26, 2013, 01:39:21 AM
I'm getting it right now with a perfectly valid wallet address.
This is pathetic.

He can keep the money, as I say, he must be in a bad place financially to stoop this low.

Maybe, maybe not, some people are just greedy and want stuff for free.

Hope you made enough profit on the other sales to cover the loss.

I certainly did my friend.
The other transactions went as smooth as silk.

He can keep the money, as I say, he must be in a bad place financially to stoop this low.

The bottom line is that this 'unauthorised transaction' loophole has to be closed by PayPal.

I mean, is he saying that someone sat at his machine, logged in as him and made a £13 purchase that included a wallet address and then sent me a note 48 hours later thanking me and confirming he'd received it??
Laughable really.

Does Snackman have any legal avenues he can go down in order to get his dough back?

I have now removed the BitBet banner from my website....I urge others to do the same.
790  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Buying BTC, LTC and any other currencies via PayPal on: November 25, 2013, 11:31:20 AM
Last Saturday I stuck 10 separate lots of 0,05 BTC for 13 GBP each on Ebay and said I'd accept Paypal and would send to buyer's  wallet within the hour.
All 10 lots  went inside 2 hours and I got 9 positive feedbacks by the next day.
Then on the Monday Paypal suspended one of the payments pending an inquiry as one of the clowns said it was an 'unauthorised payment'.
Paypal asked for proof of me sending and I have sent them a screenshot of his buy note giving me his wallet address and also a shot of the blockchain transaction from blockchain.info showing that same number receiving the amount with 788 confirmations.
That should be good enough as far as I'm concerned. I have been with them 12 years with no bother and my Ebay feedback is 100% after over 800 transactions.
If their rules don't accept my evidence (and I do expect this) it's about time they changed them. A screenshot of the blockchain should suffice.
Sadly, there's always one idiot that spoils everything.
I could imagine him doing it for £130 perhaps but £13!!
He must be skint.
Still, 9 out of 10 that I trusted returned that trust.
I'll let you know what Paypal's decision is.

Yes I'm interested in hearing this. Good luck.

Just as expected, because of their absurd rules Pay Pal gave him his money back and he also gets to keep the bitcoin I sent to his wallet.
Amazing really, I not only sent Pay Pal screenshots of the blockchain transaction along with his note giving me the wallet address,  but also a screenshot of him telling me he'd received it!
I hoped Pay Pal would maybe use this as a landmark case to tell scammers that as long as there was evidence such as I supplied then they wouldn't be allowed to  pull off the 'unauthorised transaction' scams any longer.
But no, the farce continues and people still cannot trade digital currency safely and openly on Ebay allowing people to use Pay Pal as a payment method.

I had the scammer's email on the transaction and sent him this  just now:

Well done my friend, You managed to scam me for £13.
Buy yourself a burger and a beer with it. That's about all it will get you.
To stoop so low for such a tiny amount of money tells me that you must really be poverty stricken.
I'm even thinking of popping a cheque into the post to you so you can perhaps get a few extra bits in for Xmas.
Just remember though son....Karma is the law of the universe and what we do in life comes back to us, good or bad.
Have a nice day.

Tony

I run www.bitcoinpunter.com
My traffic is pleasing...I come out on the first page when people google all of the most common phrases regarding where they can bet with bitcoin.
What I don't have as yet, is a section telling people the outfits I think they should avoid.
I think I'll be doing one now though. and I certainly know who is going to be the first one mentioned after reading this thread.
794  Economy / Gambling / Re: BitcoinLiveBets.com - hundreds in play bets, extensive betting area - (NHL,NFL) on: November 22, 2013, 03:38:05 PM
Mmmm
No reply here and no reply from support at the site in over two hours.
Plus nothing on the livebets page for over 2 days.
Most unlike them.

Try to use a , instead of a .

I have always used a dot  instead of  a comma.
Still can't get a bet on.
Just changes it from whatever amount I want to bet in to one 10 or 100 times higher.
They must be losing business through this.
A superb interface but this section needs re-designing in my opinion.
796  Economy / Gambling / Re: BitcoinLiveBets.com - hundreds in play bets, extensive betting area - (NHL,NFL) on: November 22, 2013, 12:47:39 PM
I have been trying to put bets on for the last half hour in the sports section.
Every time I pick three football teams in a combi  I put the amount I want to bet in but it keeps changing it to an absurdly high  amount again.
I used to pick three teams then click 'live bets' and the bet would be transferred there for me to place my stake....that doesn't happen any more.
This needs sorting out badly my friend.
 Huh
