doge is the next ftc
782  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins dying???? on: January 18, 2014, 06:11:42 AM
Are we looking at a profibility increase/rise in the upcoming weeks/months? It seems like the coins exchanges are boosting slowly but still going up.

nope.  markets are tired from the big pump in November.  they are dried up an will be until the dead weight is shaken off.  Could take 6 months could take 9 months.  little profit until then.

We are filling the site with content right now, patience my friends ! Cheesy

Eagerly anticipating your release.  I've been a long time lurker of your project over the last year here, on litecointalk.com and your chats on btc-e.com.  Can't wait to see what you release into the wild for us to use.
784  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Get ready for the 6 month dry spell in mining. on: January 18, 2014, 05:56:50 AM
I find it funny that at the first sign of trouble, people are talking about things as though the value of all cryptocurrencies has crashed down to $0.

What was the market cap of all cryptocurrencies on January 17, 2013?

There may be some corrections, but I don't see anything other than growth for all cryptocurrencies, considering the large amount of mainstream businesses which are beginning the accept it.

Of course, mining profitability is a whole different conversation.

Agreed, perception is relative.  Most miners getting into cryptos right now are blinded by the short term gains.  They haven't hit the pains of negative margins yet.  I was a short term miner in the beginning and never really thought about the long term until a few months later.  I'm all long term now.  I'm in this for the long haul (10 20 years easy).
785  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Get ready for the 6 month dry spell in mining. on: January 18, 2014, 05:45:17 AM
buying more coinye

good luck pumping that scam.
786  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Get ready for the 6 month dry spell in mining. on: January 18, 2014, 05:37:49 AM
The problem lies in that difficult keep climbing while market cap barely moves.  Profit margin gets smaller and smaller and the low hanging fruit disappears.  Only the most efficient or the most enduring survive.
sounds like i stocked up on coinye just in time

not really.  maximum pain has not been seen yet.  the market has to go dry for a few months.  meaning people get bored and eventually sell off before someone else does.  fear begets fear and then market prices roll over and accelerate into panic sell offs.  You bought into coniye or any crypt for that matter at the wrong time.  panic sells will start soon and you will be wondering if selling for a small loss is better than selling for a bigger one.
787  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Official Rebuttal of claims made against my person and the eMunie project on: January 18, 2014, 05:32:00 AM
Fuserleer  I monitored your efforts on eMunie from the very beginning.  It was a very interesting project.  I even was willing to accept a temporary close source for the project to protect IP.  It was a difficult challenge  and the mining community was a difficult community to win over.

It was an interesting project and is far and beyond the most unique of all of them.  Above and beyond the garbage that is released here.  For me it was a difficult project to invest into.  I felt I was on the outside of the project.  I did not feel that I was contributing much to it.

I believe that many of the attack on you and your project are mostly hacks and script kiddies that think they can flip a few switches in an algorithm make them developers and the next big thing.  It may envy.

I wish you all the best with eMunie.  I have no opinion for or against the project.  I wish you the best of luck.

Despite another 5 or so coins being added to the coinmarket website, the total marketcap of all coins has gone from 14.5bil to Total Market Cap: $ 13,285,709,586... not a good sign.

Yes there was some money outflow.  But you are only looking at a small segment of the money flow.  Over the last year there has been a tremendous inflow of money into the cryptocurrency market.  Since I've been involved over the last 2 year the market cap of the crypto world has gone from 10 million to 14 billion.  Even 10 million seems ludicrous back then.

The problem lies in that difficult keep climbing while market cap barely moves.  Profit margin gets smaller and smaller and the low hanging fruit disappears.  Only the most efficient or the most enduring survive.
789  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Get ready for the 6 month dry spell in mining. on: January 18, 2014, 04:44:37 AM
I'm just waiting for the fall out.  I'm guessing LTC will hit $10 again and miners will be crying.
790  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Get ready for the 6 month dry spell in mining. on: January 18, 2014, 03:06:16 AM
This happens after every big spike in crypto currencies.  After the huge profit margins from the spike in price  there is a huge influx of new miners trying to get in on the actions.  They dump a ton of money into mining equipment and difficulty soars.

Then prices crash from the peak and profit margins for miners dwindle. Miners can barely turn a profit at .20/kw and then a few weeks later at .10/kw.  Soon miners start dumping their GPUs on ebay trying to at least break even on them.  I was buying 7950 GPUs for $150 each on ebay during the last fall out.  Now I can sell the same GPUs for $250 to $300.  At the peak they were selling for $400.

Good luck future miners.  Hope you don't get too disgruntled this time around.
791  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Alpha Technology Litecoin (Scrypt) ASIC Miner Development on: January 16, 2014, 04:59:59 PM
Who is actually expecting to earn their investment back with these ASICs? If diff keeps rising you may never earn your investment back...

that's fine id rather pay 200w of hydro instead of 3500w for the same setup so for me it's a huge investment

yes that is the going concern.  there are a few chinese fabricators that have completed and mass produced fpgas over the last 3 months, hence the spike in diff.  gridseed has already developed and produced asic chips and released a beta sample.  they are mass producing chips and rigs are being manufactured for them this month.

so if you can't get your alpha-t until july diff will probably be at 10k by then.
792  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Alpha Technology Litecoin (Scrypt) ASIC Miner Development on: January 16, 2014, 02:28:48 AM
Does anybody else find this odd:

2 days for system assembly and testing

12 days for user manual

Also, does anybody ever go over to Dexcel Designs twitter handle?  They are constantly posting jobs, I think Dexcel is scrambling to find engineers to pull this off and currently doesn't have the manpower.

What I find odd is their ability to achieve the density to put 5x the density of chips into a 1U server.  I can't imaging the temperature problems at that density and the ability to dissipate heat.  I think they will have a high failure rate.
793  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Multi Card Install on: January 13, 2014, 03:15:06 AM

I have had a little luck re-installing my cgminer and removing all the .bin files... I have a R9 290X that has never broken 500kh/s so I think those are a total waste of money.

I am getting the impression the hashrates people post are total Bull$hit

Most are optimal rates and usually only about a minute of hashing at the most.  Plus ASIC quality on GPUs varies so some will outperform.
794  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can someone convince me why the Scrypt "ASICs" would make much difference? on: January 13, 2014, 01:53:58 AM
Who cares about profitability with scrypt mining. ... I don't give two shits about ROI as I do about mining bitcoins and helping the revolution.

Nice.  You will make a great manager, director, VP.... lol.
795  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Profitability on: January 13, 2014, 01:49:38 AM

You keep mentioning LTC, but why not mine alt coins?

Yes I understand your question.  Its relative and profitability of other alt coins can be higher than LTC at times.  However liquidity on alt coins is a fraction of LTC and LTC is a fraction of BTC.  I have a proprietary application that monitors Cryptsy and daemon difficulty to determine what to mine.  Again it is about YOUR strategy to maximize profitability.  Design it to suit your risk levels.
796  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Profitability on: January 13, 2014, 01:42:37 AM
200MHs/sec? Was that the farm speed or yours? And was that BTC or LTC?

It is a scrypt GPU farm and it is mine.  I was mining BTC until I noticed LTC was more profitable.  I still run it even as difficulty increases.  I've been growing it over the last 16 months.  Operating costs are .10/kWs plus lease, insurance, security.
Wow, nice! Mind if I ask how many rigs it has, number of cards each, etc? And is it more profitable than not most of the time, or vice versa?

The majority of the time it is profitable.  Profitable is relative to what you expect.  Returning 5% per month is profitable to me.  So I continue to operate.  70 rigs with 5 GPUs each.  Hash rate is variable. Some of them operate better than others.  Winter in my region helps performance.  Summers makes it difficult and I have to reduce intensity.  In November I had to shut down my rigs for 1 month because the cost of running them was higher than the profit returned on LTC.  If I knew that LTC would go from 2.50 to 50.00 I would have kept mining but hindsight is 20/20.

In summary you need to know your break even point and what your risks are and how long you are willing to take risk to return a gain.
797  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Multi Card Install on: January 13, 2014, 12:07:00 AM
I run 5 GPUs with risers on a single instance of a rig.  Yes there is some performance degradation in running multiple GPUs per rig,  Spreading the distance between GPUs, putting them in open air rigs and investing in good air flow help improve performance.  DO your due diligence, there is a lot of information out there on running mining farms.

799  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How long will GPU scrypt mining be feasable? on: January 12, 2014, 10:13:39 PM
Until the ASICs come in, and we'll all be relagated to playing America's Army once again

Remember that Scrypt ASIC do not provide a benefit to the order of magnitude that sha256 ASICs did.  By the time Scrypt ASICs come out AMD GPUs will reduce the benefit ASICs provide.  So GPU mining will be viable for much longer than they did in the BTC world.
800  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Profitability on: January 12, 2014, 08:05:31 PM
Only several months? lol  Wouldn't this be a permanent decrease in profitability? It's dropped from an average of roughly $7 or $8 a day per card to about $6 a day per card. I don't understand how the market works well enough to understand why or how the profitability would go back up..

No, profitability is price relative to difficulty.  I mined with a GPU farm at 200Mhs between May and Nov where the average profit per card was $1.50.  That is typical.
