Kipochi doesn’t actually work

Enthusiasts from all around the world showered a lot of praise on Kipochi when it was launched. It was a huge step for Bitcoin and it had great potential, but unfortunately, the service doesn’t work and there’s an unconfirmed rumor saying it got blocked a few days after its launch.

To see if the rumors are true, I tried using the service. A friend sent the BTC equivalent of a dollar to my Kipochi account and to my dismay, it didn’t go through. It also seems Kipochi can’t even work as a regular wallet since the transaction is not listed in my history. I don’t know where the money went and I have sent a message to the support team asking if the service has any issues. I’ll update this if I get a response. The CEO and co-founder Pelle Braendgaard (Twitter: @PelleB) could not be reached for comment.

What Kipochi tried to do – despite the fact that it doesn’t work – is a huge step for Bitcoin in Africa but it had its limitations. Only people with access to the Internet can use the service, and while the number of Internet users rises every year (it was around 12 million in 2012) I am skeptical about the number of smartphone users who would adopt the service and learn what Bitcoin is, and its advantages.

I think it is just a matter of awareness and ability once people realize that it is easy to use and make transactions in Bitcoins there fears will be alleviated and they will start using it more often.

But in reality its probally a bunch of CEO's Companies and big investment firms all agreeing to get in big on Bitcoin and pouring a large amount of their venture capital share holdings and trusts into the sphere in companies retail banking or firms.

Or even just buying Bitcoin themselves and holding it.

Considering they are selling blocks of 300 BTC at this price they would be better off selling the coins than running away with the chump change.
Now if they said the escrow was a non-refundable deposit to enter this auction that would have been a good steal ^_^.


Similar sentiment these coins will not be underbid with that many interested parties with the exception of collusion amongst them lol.

It depends which one you use for example I would trust dooglus and just dice as much as blockchain.info in terms of security of your Bitcoins and storage procedures.

The problem with the investor feature is the variance so your coins can be eaten or grow a bit depending on when you deposit although it tends to grow in the long term but 1 Big Whale will mean it takes a while to recover that initial loss

Once Mt. Gox was the biggest Bitcoin exchange, today it has become a synonym for mismanagement and everything that can go wrong with a Bitcoin company. The sentiments are shared even by Tech entrepreneur Zhenya Tsvetnenko when he says that his company has modeled itself as the opposite of Mt Gox.

He was referring to $450 million collapse of the Japanese-based Bitcoin exchange that lost millions of dollars of investors. The Bitcoin exchange CEO also faced charges of swindling the funds sources from investors for personal uses. However, the severe impact that the failure has left on the people is that they are now wary of investing in Bitcoin companies.

Tech entrepreneur Zhenya Tsvetnenko understands this and for that reason he assures the investors and people that DigitalBTC is everything what Mt. Gox was not. It has been modeled as the opposite of the failed Bitcoin exchange. He believes that the future of Bitcoin is stable, and failure of Mt. Gox teaches every other company what not to do.

DigitalBTC Will Follow the Best Business Practices

Earlier, the Perth-based DigitalBTC became the first Bitcoin company that traded in the Australian Stock Exchange. It traded at 28.5c – above its 20c prospectus price and according to the market experts it is going to go higher in the next couple of trading days. Mr Tsvetnenko believes that the listing was part of its drive for transparency.
