7861  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AMD Tahiti GPUs (Radeon 7950 / 7970 / 280X / 7990 ) Owners Appreciation Thread on: August 02, 2018, 05:41:28 AM
I will try and see what speeds/power consumption I get with XMR-Stak and SGMiner. Which versions are you using exactly?

Oh good point, I use sgminer-gm (has no devfee). I get the same speed with xmr-stak fire-ice, but that one has devfee.

In the past I think I've took the lower memory straps and pasted them into the higher memory timings like we all do with the RX series.

I use the one-click patch in polaris bios editor for the RX series, better performance than using lower straps? I too think the timings that I linked to can be improved further, tailor them to Monero v7 algorithm precisely?

The core is very power hungry though, don't think there is anything we can do there. Upping core speed definitely boosts cryptonight hashrate. Sad

Yes but these cards are strange. Sometimes going from 950Mhz to 1000Mhz results in a 20% increase but going from 1050Mhz to 1100Mhz might only result in a 5% increase.

I think its because of the way the core engine and the memory clock work together since its a very memory intensive algo.

Aaaand SafeDice is back up again.

However it would be easier just to hire support staff.

Whatever happened to the SDMod account? A few months ago they did a fairly good job at keeping everyone up-to-date but now the account appears to be inactive again...

The guy was pretty active back in June. He seemed to do a pretty good job actually, however he seems to have disappeared shortly after. His last login was at June 22nd.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1941878

Then last week, another new user called SDUpdate has posted about an upcoming update and hasnt been very active since.

Basically this user:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2306280

So no idea if its the same person or some guy trying to scam people who PM him directly and he asks for their credentials and steals their BTC; it has happened before.

Since the OP is never online, we can't verify that.
7863  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is Cryptocurrency Mining Dying? GPU vs ASIC | VoskCoin Crypto Farm | August 2018 on: August 02, 2018, 05:22:18 AM
Its not dying, its just very unprofitable due to the competition.

Basically its like a double edged sword.

If Bitcoin and other crypos weren't popular then the price would be lower. However since they are popular alot of people discover this "free money" thing called mining and they end up increasing everyones difficulty.
7864  Economy / Gambling / Re: what the most honest casino ,provably fair that accept bitcoin? on: August 01, 2018, 05:40:36 PM
For me, it's Stake.com. It has 8+ games, supports ETH and Bitcoin, great user interface, weekly promotional challenges and you can even get paid for your contribution on forum. Overall it's a fantastic online casino. It is from the Primedice team (one of the trusted online casino platform).

Try stake.com or you can click my signature below to go to the site. They have 12 games here, provably fair and not only accept bitcoin but ethereum too. They have instant withdrawal too and 24/7 live support.

You guys should tell us which one is the real stake? From this two posts I can say that you guys are not really playing on their site right? Just because of you wearing their signature you are willing to help them promote on their site right? Btw I know that their site is from primedice which is offer many games and it is well known site too but if you guys are going to have different perspective of stake then you should not post it just to ruin their reputation

What are you talking about? Stake.com/stake.com are the same and yes i'm playing on stake.com, and i tell you what i experienced on the site. You can check my id there "jualid". How about you stop signature spamming and post nonsense?

You should try to see instead of spamming your signature too. The one he said is having only 8+ games mean while the other one said that they have 12+ games. I do not know if you are sensitive to this thing, although you have played on that site? Ehat a joke, but instead of spamming to tell me what the right and wrong, you should at least read from what I quote. I know stake.com and very well know about that site because I played there too, so there is nothing you should tell me either

I already bolded it so you will see which one is the difference in case you do not see those

This is why certain threads like this one, where the OP last reply was around May should be locked or labelled as "Answered".

Because every few weeks, someone bumps it to make a post in the Gambling section, and what follows are more posters which post the same stuff over and over again.

I have twelve of these cards, 7950/7970/280/280x. Fantastic workhorses.

They just became unprofitable for me though due to high electricity price right now. I have some tips and questions for you Tahiti owners. Perhaps we can make them profitable once again?

Thanks alot for providing this info.

I will try and see what speeds/power consumption I get with XMR-Stak and SGMiner. Which versions are you using exactly?

XMR-Stak I assume you are using the latest but there are tons of SGMiner forks out there.

I think the best way to optimize would be the memory straps. In the past I think I've took the lower memory straps and pasted them into the higher memory timings like we all do with the RX series. It worked however the issue was when a GPU crashed it froze the entire rig instead of just crashing the miner program or Windows and it needed a hard-reboot. So it was too time consuming so I just left them stock.

With a 750W power draw, I don't think it would be possible to make it that quiet.
But I guess everybody has different noise levels and they are all relative.
The UV/UC s7's get very quiet. Given 70F ambient it is quieter than the central AC. Still audible at a distance but not distracting in the least.

I guess the difference can be the hashboards.

If I recall the S3 hashboard had exposed chips, while the S7 had individual heatsinks on each chip.

So I guess the S7 needed a little less airflow since the heatsinks did a good job of absorbing most of the heat, while the S3 needed much more air.

Really temped to pick up a couple of these and just mod them for old time sakes. Been a while since I've had an Antminer and they are dirt cheap right now.

Maybe point it in ckpool solo and hope it hits a block one day.
7867  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Is the BCH (fake Bitcoin) Bitcoin Cash wallet free of viruses? on: August 01, 2018, 03:31:13 PM
I don't have any experience with the Bitcoin Cash wallet (The one where you need to download > 100Gigs) but the Electron Cash seemed legit.

I verified the hash that it was signed by that Jyoofball guy and just used it cold like I did with Electrum.

I used it a few times and no coins where stolen, so its definately safe.

Just make sure you go to the correct website and verify the hash afterwards.
7868  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 50'000 USD to invest NOW on: August 01, 2018, 03:28:22 PM
This is a huge amount of money, if we decide to invest in them must be extremely careful, deep analysis on those projects, so far many people are losses and only a few are successful. .

Basically I knew some friends who had this kind of money that invested at the beginning of 2017 and another that invested at the end of the year.

It was all their savings and it was earning bad interest in the bank and they wanted to put the money to work. They all invested in 2008 in the stock market and lost it all and wanted to try something different.

The guy who invested the $50,000, he made probably $750,000 at one point and then he kept rebuying the alts he sold and eventually a few months back he sold everything and cashed out his original $50,000.

The who invested $50,000 in December is very bitter because his net worth now is like $5,000 and he hasn't sold yet. He told me he is waiting until it goes back up to like $25,000 and he will cash out then and never look back.

And it’s back down again.  I’m over this.

LOL.

You know what, I can probably just read the replies here and just guess that "Its down again" and automatically assume its Safedice.

Yes, its always down. If you frequent this thread you would of noticed this by now. Like that user said a few pages back "Its called Safedice because your BTC is safe because you can't gamble it because the site is always down".

And like I said many many times before. The admin really needs to hire some support staff. People always panic whenever the site is down and assume the worse and think they are performing an exit scam.

I think the admin is busy with a real job and family and doesn't have any time to devote to this site since BTC is down. Maybe if BTC goes to $100,000 a coin, then he might quit his day job and focus on this site 24/7.

However it would be easier just to hire support staff.
7870  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading or mining? on: August 01, 2018, 03:19:54 PM
I've done both.

They basically are very different in terms of risk.

With mining, there is very little risk. Because the equipment you buy , especially GPUs will always hold some value and won't go to $0.

With trading, there is very high risk. And due to high leverage and how volatile BTC can be, you can easily lose everything. With alts its even more riskier.

However keep in mind that unless you HODL there is little to be made mining. With trading, and high leverage you can make insane amounts of money.

So its basically a catch 22.
7871  Economy / Gambling / Re: ▂▃▅▆█ BITSLER █▆▅▃▂🎁NEW UPDATE★★★WORLD CUP PROMO★★★🎁 on: August 01, 2018, 03:17:21 PM
Guessing when it will struck the 28 billionth bet is not that bad but I think you need to have some kind of open window in which you will accept contestants as people will take advantage of the time it is nearing the goal. This promotion will really remove the chances of bots taking advantage of the previous promotions Bitsler have. But another downside is there might not be a winner at all as the possibility of their predictions might be way off compared to the actual time.
Yes, its also a good idea to put a deadline on when they can place their prediction like once bets reached a certain number of bets left to reach another milestone and not the way that they can place their prediction anytime they want and only 1 account can be used. But then again, current promo of Bitsler is still ok just like what posted above.

Yes that actually would be much smarter, and make the cut-off time like a few million bets away which is about a day or so away.

If it was done this way then most likely there wouldn't be so many people spamming the bets and it would be more fair to the everyday gamblers who use Bitsler instead of the ones that only show up during these promos.

However it would be alot of work, it would be easier just to limit the bet speed, and set a min bet size for the promo, if a small bet is won, then it would be forwarded to the next bet which met the requirement.
7872  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I'm glad I didn't buy any more video cards, a 1080ti barley makes $1 a day on: August 01, 2018, 03:13:40 PM
We all knew this would happen eventually.

Take 2013 bubble for example. Back then the prices for the R9 280X was like $500 but the GPU made like $10/day back in Nov 2013.

Fast forward a few months to Feb 2014 and it pulled in $5/day, the month after $2.50/day, the month after that about $1.25/day and fast forward to the end of the year and I think it will pulling in $0.25/day.

And it was worse because it used much more power than most of the GPUs today.

The only difference between those GPUs and today is that there was less GPUs mining and GPUs to sell, so the supply got absorbed by the gamers. These days there are millions of these GPUs out there.
7873  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: August 01, 2018, 03:10:29 PM
Well I was wrong about those hidden iceberg orders.

It looks like someone bought alot of these coins but the price went down anyways.

Basically just like every other alt, its declining. Probably going to be like this until something major happens like a Bitcoin ETF which will promote another massive FOMO rally.
7874  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Hacking the S7 - improving efficiency through minor hardware manipulation on: July 31, 2018, 07:50:52 AM
Depending on the condition of the chips and resulting speed/voltage the miner will be stable at, with 3 boards mine were running at ~ 3.5 to 3.9THs with fans at 20-25%, power draw was around 750W. Result is more than quiet enough for the office or home.

Really surprised you got it to be quiet enough for an office with a 750W power draw.

I remember with my old Antminer S3, to get it quiet enough for a bedroom I had to undervolt and underclock so it pulled 300Watts and I was able to get away with using 2 computer case fans (from a KnCMiner Jupiter actually).

With a 750W power draw, I don't think it would be possible to make it that quiet.

But I guess everybody has different noise levels and they are all relative.
7875  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Looking for cheap and new coins to mine on latest Macbook Pro on: July 31, 2018, 07:46:12 AM
If you really want to mine for fun either

1) Do cloud mining - You won't ROI most likely

2) Buy an USB SHA256 stick miner - You won't ROI

3) Buy a PC and buy a cheap old GPU like a 280X - You will make a little money with cheap power

4) Buy a bunch of GPUs, mobo, PSUs and build a 6 GPU right - You will make a little money with cheap power.

Don't mine on your expensive laptop with a battery inside.
7876  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BTC: where is the market going on: July 31, 2018, 07:37:16 AM
I don't know if any of you guys follow the Bitcoin futures data on Bitmex and OKEx. But right now we got crazy open interest, and we got crazy amount of longs on both platforms.

On OKEx there is a crazy trader which has a ~$500 million open long position and on Bitmex the Dec premium is over $200 because the funding rate is high.

This only means one thing. In the near future we are going way way up or way way down...
7877  Economy / Gambling / Re: ★ Crypto-Games.net ★ Ethereum Classic added ★ Huge wagering contest ★ on: July 31, 2018, 07:35:01 AM
Would you guys ever consider adding an auto roll for the roulette?

I am pretty sure there is no point in adding auto roll for roulette. If you want to use auto roll like that you might as well use dice instead.

Roulette is more of a funner game than dice and that's why in a physical casino you usually have a Roulette table and no such thing as a dice table.

Whatever odds you are going for, you might as well configure your dice wagering and percentage and its kind of like dice. Basically no different than the people who want to play the lotto when they can just play dice on 9900x.
7878  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bounties are STUPID on: July 30, 2018, 11:13:01 PM
The bounties used to be good deals back in 2017 during the crazy ICO days. If you got them in time and it was listed on an exchange you could make a huge profit for little work.

These days however it does nothing but hurt the project. Because usually at least 50% of those bounties are sold as soon as an exchange is open and it leads to huge price declines.

The reason they exist however is because its a very cheap way to promote the ICO, much cheaper than Google adwords or other forms of advertisement.
7879  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: EVERYTHING Miners Need To Know About GPU Warranties | BEST? Worst? Transfer? on: July 30, 2018, 11:05:09 PM
Sapphire is the worst to deal with in my opinion.

I bought a few GPUs second hand, the GPUs blew up a bunch of MOSFETs and I tried to get RMA. They basically need the original receipt and it needs to be you. If the address and names don't match up, they assume it was bought second hand and refuse to RMA.

Gigabyte, Asus and MSI they don't care whether you are the first owner or the 10th owner. The warranty stays with the card kind of like Apple Warranties or Car warranties.
7880  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain is disclosing it's hashrate on: July 30, 2018, 11:02:45 PM
I don't think those numbers are a lie.

Since they are trying to go public they need to have accurate and proven book keeping and that includes how much hash power they are mining with.

My guess is they most likely sold off their ETH gear instead of posting huge hash power not to scare off a potential POW change which the ETH foundation might be forced to do.
