7861  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Geist Geld restart - is it a good idea ? on: September 12, 2011, 07:22:48 PM
They show up the diff as if they were new (they are "new" from the client's perspective) until you reach current block (at this moment 32400 on this very moment, diff 44-someth)

I too have found it mildly confusing some time ago.
Thanks, that clears it up a little.

What does the "not practically limited resource" mean in numbers anyway?
You wrote that the amount of Geistgeld would be comparable to the power of the sun, so the equivalent of mining all Geistgeld would be constructing a dyson sphere Wink
So this seems out of the question right now but we have no idea what might come up in the future...

Just out of interest how much processing power would it take, and is it possible without converting earth into a giant computer running on molecular machinery?
7862  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Geist Geld restart - is it a good idea ? on: September 12, 2011, 07:00:54 PM
Well it could be that there was so much missing I closed it overnight and just started it again so there might be a few hours missing, but shouldn't the downloaded old blocks not show up as new ones in the mining software?
But I will let it sit a little lets see...
7863  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Geist Geld restart - is it a good idea ? on: September 12, 2011, 06:46:57 PM
I vouch for it, even when I mined a few with legit means, the current state is unbearable. The thing is: Either ArtForz is still messing with it or some other people have adapted his code for crushing the difficulty adjustment. There are several new blocks on the network every second right now and if this continues it will become useless.

I hope this doesn't happen to i0coin  Shocked

Well it is too small to get enough attention, while it could technically happen very easily he e-penis enlargement a potential attacker can hope for would be almost non-existent so I doubt it will Smiley
7865  Economy / Speculation / Re: Looks like we are in a repeat bounce from low, soon to make new lows. on: September 12, 2011, 03:25:51 PM
I disagree.

Somewhat. There almost certainly will be a correction from this mini-rally - but the time window to go below 4.18 is gone. (I say this because of the damping effect on the pace of the correction which would stretch that out to almost a week)
7866  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Custom FPGA Mining Board: X6000/X6500 on: September 12, 2011, 03:20:15 PM
oh btw are there plans for cases yet? I've got myself a brand new 3D Printer and am willing to participate  Smiley
This could be really cool. Can we get a (virtual) show of hands of how many people would be interested in an enclosure? How about this, ElectricMucus, I'll get you the exact board dimensions with mounting hole locations, etc., and you can mock up a design. I have some half-baked ideas about how this could look, but it would be cool to see what you can come up with.

Cool, that was exactly what I've had in mind. I think the best option is a 2 part case where the board is screwed onto the bottom and the bottom mounted to the top of the enclosure. (Either by screws or snap fit)

If the board is passive it could be designed so that the heatsinks stand out and slits on the side of the case to ensure air convection.
PM me with the stats and I will get right on it Smiley
7867  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Only 9/11 Explosion I see is in the Bitcoin Price! on: September 11, 2011, 10:45:28 PM
Actually it would be more interesting to see a bet of where the price will be 2 weeks from now.
Alot of the bears in the forums are secret permabulls who wanna stack up cheapl this is why this argument is brought up as it's easy.

It's freaking hilarious to hear the same arguments over and over from different people on different boards all the time.

If you ask me the WTC wasn't even blown up on the same day as the TV broadcast. But I have no way to prove it and no incentive to even attempt it which is also my point in this discussion.

You people are like arguing soccer fanatics who aren't even fit enough to run for 20minutes.

That's why arguing plausibility/implausibility is much easier than arguing definitively one way or the other.
The thing is I heard every theory you people are discussing now and those you don't 10 years ago on #wtc during the broadcast.

Panic selling followed by panic buying, this actually leads to a "chirp" followed by a blue sky catastrophe.

7871  Other / Off-topic / Re: THIS IS THE 9/11 ANNIVERSARY TERRORIST ATTACK on: September 11, 2011, 08:08:44 PM
I remember this day well. I was standing there, watching the twin towers, when NO PLANES hit the buildings. But suddenly, they exploded, and turned into dust, by the time the metal hit the ground, there was none. I expected to see scrambled molten steel all zig zagged, and fallen over buildings in the area. There was none. Walking down the street, a few blocks away, I noticed cars had windows blown out consecutively. I noticed some cars were burned to a crisp, but some were in perfect shape.  Then, surprise, surprise, I saw passports of 19 hijackers all in perfect order, and I picked them up. I googled their names, and found out they were still alive in foreign countries but all claimed to have their passports stolen.

It was a wild day, for sure.
You've got it.

7872  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoinica is now the second largest Bitcoin Trading Platform on: September 11, 2011, 07:41:09 PM
This is the most retarded thing I've ever seen. Emulating the fiat money market, naked shorting... and you think you people still heave it together. But the most fun thing from this is that the best way to profit from it is not participating in it  Cheesy
7873  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Safebit - Official Preview Version released today! on: September 11, 2011, 06:41:12 PM

A more automated way to accomplish this would be nice.
Lets do this Smiley

7876  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Custom FPGA Mining Board: X6000/X6500 on: September 11, 2011, 05:40:57 PM
I've not put alot of thought into this yet, I don't personally feel any1 will appreciate a case, and if I can't somehow pickout a already mass produced case and go with something custom, that's gonna add alot of cost to the final product. You're free to do whatever you want to your board though =P.

Actually I am confident I can pretty much corner almost any price of any project cases in retail or semi-retail quantities. And it would be possible to have each case customized with a text or logo.
7877  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Am I a political hypocrite? on: September 11, 2011, 05:29:01 PM
You don't have to define yourself in the left/right/authoritarian/libertarian plane.
It's not 1, 2 or more-dimensional every agenda is one axis in hilbert-space and every single one is wrong.

The absolute vector value of each agenda you live under corresponds to the level of tyranny you are exposed to.

PS: call me a hypocrite too Smiley

7879  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcoinduit Source Available Tomorrow At 12:01pm.. on: September 11, 2011, 05:20:54 PM
I"m not exactly sure yet, the first thought was to multiply the initial ticket cost by the numbers of the sequence and distribute it evenly every time, or give a random payout everytime a new ticket is bought, or, or, or...
Would be highly experimental at first the goal is to manage popularity better.
7880  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcoinduit Source Available Tomorrow At 12:01pm.. on: September 11, 2011, 04:57:01 PM
I'd like to add an option to incorporate Fibonacci sequences into the ponzi. What I have to figure out is how round time should relate to it, once I see the code I possibly can tell you more Smiley
