Do you mean if someone edited his post and put the original source after someone exposed him, he's already free from permanent banned? Why should someone get banned if he's no longer breaking the forum rules because he fixed his mistake by himself? Lauda did the same and got away with it. Don't get me wrong, that's just tell me reporting plagiarism in this thread is completely useless since it's save the plagiarizer. Well, it depends: users who use a notification bot will likely notice your post here. If you don't want that, you should use Report to moderator instead. But whether or not it's useless depends on your goal: is your goal to get a user banned, or is your goal to make the forum better? Even if naim027 doesn't get banned, I'm pretty sure he won't do it again. I call that a win. LoyceV asked me to edit my posts and add the source link to my posts. If theymos put some restriction/limit on it, like signature space, It can be prevented. If I am not wrong, Only Legendary members' signatures space can use the background color. He can put some restrictions on coloring URLs, too (In my opinion, Coloring URLs should not be allowed for anyone) like Signature space. What's with people asking for more and more restrictions all the time? Eddie13 sums it up nicely: Should never have put the temporary illusion of safety above personal liberty.. There are thousands of websites that restrict their users in all possible ways. I don't know any site that offers the same freedom as Bitcointalk. Cherish it, instead of trying to turn it into all the other sites. Don't forget the forum's mission: the forum's mission to be as free as possible. If your safety depends on the color of a link on the internet, maybe the internet isn't for you. |

Well, I don't have an explanation on this matter. But, As far as I remember, Not only this, but I did this a few more times without knowing the rules (As I have already said that those few weeks were my newbie days). I was asked to respond to naim027's plagiarism, so I'll just add my 2 sats  I've said it before: plagiarism is "normal" on the internet, and Bitcointalk is the rare exception. Barely anyone ever reads the rules when they first join a forum, so plagiarism is likely to happen. In naim027's case, his account was already 4 years old when this plagiarism happened, but he barely posted during those first years. I always assumed Bitcointalk is so strict because of people spamming for their post count. I can't really tell if that was the case here, but some Newbies post in WO to earn Merit so it could have been the case. Since naim027 edited his plagiarism before being (signature) banned, I don't expect him to be banned now. It might be a good moment for him to go over all his old posts before someone else does. |

What's interesting is that you didn't make a single post again after you created this topic (more than 14 months ago), until today. And today you started by resetting your password, just like in 2018. So if you're still the same owner, I'd say you need a password manager My SIM card Phone number was Simjacked/Ported from Tmobile >> ATT, The attacker got my Phone number. Started to use SMS recovery on everything they could. For this exact reason, I've disabled phone recovery anywhere I can, starting by my email. Unfortunately, more and more banks now move to SMS authentication too. I can keep my passwords safe, but I can't help it if my phone company makes a mistake. |

This would prevent inadvertently clicking on links, especially when you're on mobile. If this gets implemented, I'd appreciate a "don't ask me again" checkbox. Kinda like the "delete post" button: if I click it normally, there's a popup, but if I click it with my middle mouse button (to open in a new tab), it doesn't ask me anything and just deletes the post. |

brainwallets are not popular anymore. I'm pretty sure some people still use them. Example: me There's only a smal amount in it, and I haven't checked it for years, but I dare to say my setup is complicated enough to never be brute-forced. I guess the remaining brainwallets in use have decent passwords too. One way to stop "generic" brute-forcing is by adding something personal as a salt, for instance your licence plate. That easily makes it 8 orders of magnitude more difficult to brute-force, and an attacker would have to "multiply" his database of all existing passwords with all existing licence plates. I'm not using my licence plate, and I'm not disclosing what I'm doing. |

I'm not sure even how I'd dump SV. I have some on Coinbase because of transaction duplication but they don't let you trade em. Can you withdraw them? I've recently tested 2 instant exchangers for this, both through Tor, and it worked fine (for small amounts at least). I don't want to advertise them here though. So if you can withdraw them go from Coinbase > to instant exchanger > to Bitcoin > to your wallet. |

Bitcoin SV is now back to the same price level as it was in 2018/2019. I'm curious: who here still has those shitcoins? I can imagine many HODLers never touched their Bitcoin, so all Forkcoins are still in there. What better way to get even than to dump them? |

Mempool is full: you currently need more than 12 sat/vbyte for a fast confirmation. If you're not in a hurry: just wait. Chances are mempool clears over the weekend, and your transactions will confirm. I tried increasing the fees but then it says:
the server returned an error when broadcasting the transaction. Consider trying to connect to a different server, or updating Electrum I think this means your increased fee is too close to your previous fee. Note that increasing the fee for your first transaction invalidates the later (child) transactions.

The thing is... Electrum comes pre-installed with Tails, but it is not the latest version. So if you update Tails on a "Persistent Volume" to the latest version of Electrum, then you effectively void the benefit of having a clean boot every time you use that "Persistent Volume"? To keep the private keys offline, it doesn't matter if you update Electrum before entering your seed phrase. But you'll have to make absolutely sure the system stays offline until you turn it off. A physical network cable is obvious, Wifi needs more attention. Note that creating seed words on a system that has been online could mean the seed is compromised already. You probably don't have to update Electrum each time: a slightly different version number is okay for signing transactions. I have swept many coins from Paper wallets to Electrum without any problems..... but I guess I have just been lucky. Think of it as seed seat belts: I've used them many times, but never needed them. But I keep using them, for the one time they'll save me. I am still looking for a program that can encrypt a "Private Key" offline and then when it goes online.... that program decrypt it and sweep the keys.  How about BIP38 encryption? Bitaddress encrypt and decrypt this (offline). No need to sweep the funds online, you can still sign offline. If you use this, make sure to test recovering your private key before funding your address! After I sweep a key... I quickly transfer the coins to another Bitcoin address.... because I am just paranoid. If there's malware, you'll be too late. |
