7862  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC TO 5K$ soon on: January 17, 2020, 12:49:59 PM
The price has gone low to $3400 during the previous year same month. Further the growth started to increase slowly from the second quarter of the year. This year the growth has already started, based on which I believe the price won't fall low to $5000 by this month. Mostly the price can reach $5000 after the days of halving.
It looks bullish trend now are more stronger this year, today we already touched $9000 while price is down a bit but it will surely touched again.

What next for btc? we don't know but as this continues to be bullish, next target will be $10,000.

This article is interesting an scary.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitcoin-price-could-rally-to-9k-before-a-massive-collapse-heres-why

I was out the whole day, just came back night time here and was surprised to see the price picking up again and inching closer to $9k, how many weeks do we have that we are in the positive? I think this is very similar around February last year where we posted like 10 weeks in a row and then pushing the price to $13k around June. But we all know what happens next. Are we in the same trend now? Hard to predict, just because halving will be in May of this year.
7863  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin Cement its Position as a Hedging Instrument in the Midst of Economic on: January 17, 2020, 11:45:02 AM
Is bitcoin really being used to hedge against geo-political/economic woes? It has been speculated, but so far we can't really say if it being taken advantage of. The only use case we have seen so far is Venezuela or to an extend the Zimbabwe crisis but there are still a lot of lingering questions.

I guess if I'm a wealthy person and wanted to hedge all my assets, I will still go with Gold and other investment instruments. It's not that bitcoin is no good, but we all know that it is very volatile and smart investors doesn't like that, just saying.
7864  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How can we overcome our gambling addiction! on: January 16, 2020, 07:33:18 PM
There's a story that my mom told me, it's about my uncle who once became a gambling addict that there comes a time where he sold most of their things in their house just to find money to gamble. The worst thing that my uncle did is to pledge their house just to satisfy his gambling pleasures.

I think we have heard similar story before.

I know it's not easy to overcome this situation especially when you're already in your point that you want to get back everything that you have lost. You keep on gambling thinking you can earn everything back. Actually, we're already lucky enough if we continuously win the game but even our luck has its own limitations. Without noticing it, our wins are slowly turning into losses.

It's really hard specially if the person is not acknowledging his gambling addiction until it's too late. He is knee deep and can't get out by himself. That's why I believed that family needs to support them to snap out of his bad habits.

I also know that some of us here will just put their attention on different things to avoid too much gambling. But in reality, it's just easy to say but harder to do. There's no easy way if you really got attached to gambling. But in your opinion or personal experiences, how do you overcome your addiction to gambling?

I overcome it when I lost my job, obviously, I don't have the means to continue to gamble and then I realised that I was becoming a statistics. So once I got up and recover, I never look back, I just play occasionally and just bring money that I can afford to lose and have some fun.
7865  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain the most desirable skill of 2020 according to LinkedIn on: January 16, 2020, 06:53:33 PM
This surprises me. The only stuff that makes money in 'blockchain' are exchanges and conning VC investors into throwing money at any old shite. I would've expected it to have gone quiet for now at least.

If IT burns through qualifications at a furious pace then 'blockchain' has only just gotten started. What'll be put into actual use in a few years will likely bear zero resemblance to what they're playing with now.

The only area of 'blockchain' I'd be specialising in at present is bankruptcies.

You are right to doubt this report, I feel like it might be quite misleading, like why they say that it's the most popular skill of 2020 and compare it with 2019 if this year only just started? Maybe what they see is some short-term spike on popularity, perhaps caused by the recent pump across the crypto market, and this hype will disappear quite soon.

Yeah, very misleading to say the least. If I'm not mistaken, the same set of skills are supposedly hot in 2019, lol. Obviously, crypto market is still as hype as we all know that's why LinkedIn still consider knowledge in "blockchain" are still on top this 2020. Demand is spiking as companies are testing this new technology and probably going to replace their legacy systems with blockchain based.
7866  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Data Shows Why Bitcoin SV’s 163% Rally in a Week Won’t Last on: January 16, 2020, 06:03:49 PM
Whole Market is manipulated including bitcoin.

It's hard to manipulate bitcoin per se at its market is really huge as compare to BSV or any another altcoin for that matter. That's why there are bitcoin maximalist telling us that "pump" is not in their vocabulary,  Grin. Is the data relevant? definitely, it just really shows that this sudden and massive pump of Bitcoin SV is not natural and sure, someone is going to get benefit from this. Right now the price is above $300 and is chasing BCH. But nothing will change though, BSV is just another creation by faketoshi and it will consider as another altcoin that can be manipulated anytime.
7867  Economy / Service Discussion / Bitwise decided to withdraw its Bitcoin ETF application on: January 16, 2020, 02:28:31 PM

Re:

Withdrawal of Registration Statement on Form S-1

Bitwise Bitcoin ETF Trust (File No. 333-229180)

Ladies and Gentlemen:

Pursuant to Rule 477 of the Securities Act of 1933 (the “Act”), Bitwise Bitcoin ETF Trust (the “Registrant”) respectfully requests the withdrawal of the Registrant’s registration statement on Form S-1 (Reg. No. 333-229180) (the “Registration Statement”). The Registration Statement was initially filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (the “Commission”) on January 10, 2019. The Registrant understands that, pursuant to Rule 477(b) of the Act, this application for withdrawal will be deemed granted at the time filed with the Commission unless, within 15 calendar days after the filing, the Commission notifies the Registrant that the application for withdrawal has not been granted.

At this time, the Registrant has determined not to pursue the registration and sale of the securities covered by the Registration Statement. The Registrant believes that this withdrawal request is consistent with the public interest and protection of investors as required by Rule 477(a) of the Act and represents, in accordance with Rule 477(c) of the Act, that there has been no issuance, distribution or sale of the securities under the Registration Statement.

https://sec.report/Document/0001493152-20-000557/

So it seems that Bitwise also withdraw their application to SEC for a Bitcoin ETF. Perhaps they know that it has a slim chance to be approved, as the market is really 'prone to manipulation', just saying.
7868  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Wilder vs. Fury II: The Rematch is On on: January 16, 2020, 01:28:14 PM
And for those who have doubts about the awkward statement made my Anthony Joshua, I dig youtube:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDc9JPrzvs4

Go forward 0:40, and you will hear it straight from Joshua's mouth.

Here is Fury's response though,

Quote

Tyson Fury Holds Nose at Joshua's Win, Rips Apart Sparring Offer

"They offered hot air as usual. I accepted, they haven’t turned up, take what you want from it, that’s it. Joshua’s nothing like Wilder but I’d like to bring him over and give him a good hiding anyway. But they’re not going to come, let’s face it," Fury told BoxingScene.com.

"They’re not going to come over and get beat up in sparring. It was just a stupid offer at a stupid time - wasn’t thinking, I accepted straight away, me being me, and that was it. I don’t read into it too much, he ain’t coming, simple as. He ain’t got the bollocks to turn up and spar, end of."

https://www.boxingscene.com/tyson-fury-holds-nose-joshuas-win-rips-apart-sparring-offer--145960

Clearly, he doesn't like the idea, and I like him saying that he is going to beat up Joshua in the sparring. They might cross path in the future, so it's better for them not to really spar as no one will really get the benefits of it. The rematch is just about a month from now, and as we gets closer, I'm sure a lot of media are going to cover and it will make the fight more exciting with trash talking.

Plaintiffs in the case previously filed charges against Cryptsy founder Paul Vernon over alleged negligence and violation of Florida’s Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act after facing withdrawal issues related to the exchange’s hack, which saw approximately 10,000 BTC stolen from clients. Coinbase was later accused for being involved in laundering $8.2 million in funds and abetting in the exchange theft.

Coinbase’s previous attempt for dismissal of the suit and settlement through arbitration was denied by the court, and the three-year-long case was nearing a jury trial.

No idea what thoughts were in the head of a person who wanted to install the app with that name. I mean, if you still want to install some shady program, then at least check it through online virus checkers and only then download to your device.

Well you can't really judge some individual who still believes that they can earn free coins without checking the credential of the said projects that why we really need to use logic here and not be emotional or too greedy, otherwise you will look and feel dumb about it when you became a victim like this guy {Beware}:Fake Elon Musk giveaway and how someone fall for the trick.
7873  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-01-12] Bitcoin Price Analysis for 01/12: Retesting $8,000 Seems Likely on: January 12, 2020, 09:09:57 PM
Well it's good if we see the price trading sideways @$8000. But it seems that this level doesn't look like to hold in the coming weeks as we might see some minor pull back here. There's a lot of pressures as well to the bulls, so it will be very interesting what the price or how the price will move this week. But I wouldn't be surprised if it goes $7500 again.
7874  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC to 5000$ before a big rise ? on: January 12, 2020, 08:37:07 PM
Why are many online price forecasts saying BTC will dip to $5k before the halving?
Do you predict the same too?
I'm not a pro trader, just asking out of curiosity
I also think like that, usually before the price pumped is very high, it will definitely be dumped, because many whales want to get a cheap price before the price actually goes up by halving.
although there is a possibility, but in my opinion for now it will not fall again to 5k, several times down and support is strong enough not to fall below 6k.

I don't believe someone will see a $5k Bitcoin anymore this year. It's halving time, and this means up-up-up. Expect a nice pump to $16k and then some bottom finding over $10k. Afterwards a wonderful bull run comparable to 2017.

Well we might see a bull run comparable to 2017, but it might take some time though.

But I do agree that we won't see $5k as we have bottom already in the $3k range in late 2018-2019. I'm sure everything is surprised that the price is maintaining around $8k. I thought that it will go sideways around $6500-$7k, but I guess everyone is 'positioning' themselves for the next halving starting this month.

The forum is accessible on my end. Yobit did spend a lot of money on the marketing of that forum so I guess they are going to maintained it. We really don't know what's the long term goal, but obviously, they have a lot of capital and still paying spammers to keep their forum alive as of this time.

As far as I remember, this is not the first time na tumulong ang Binance, On April 15, 2019, a fire broke out on the roof of the historic Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France, At meron din silang Binance Lite Australia.

This is good news, I mean malaking tulong na rin ung ido-donate nila dahil grabe na talaga ang pinsala ng bush hire na ito, hindi lang sa tao pero sa wild life ng Australia rin.
7877  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Bitcoin Node sa Pilipinas on: January 12, 2020, 12:42:46 PM
I had one in 2015 nung nag-try ako magmine using Gridseed miners out of curiosity and not for profits. Dalawa ang connection ko noon, isang fiber PLDT which, at the time costs Php 2800 a month (ridiculous!) at isang broadband internet connection from Globe. Configured yung machine to use the broadband connection as a fail-safe in the event of internet disruption kay PLDT which, thankfully happened only a few times.

I was not yet in the crypto sphere in 2015-2016 so salamat sa pag share about it.

7878  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitmain co-founder in legal war against shareholders of the company on: January 12, 2020, 12:08:06 PM
I do not think that the justification for bitcoin halving is the main reason for exempting employees, because it is a naive comparison, for example, 50% of employees, because the value of the rewards goes down by half.

I think it's just one excuse to reduced its employees, maybe because the company is not really earning as it is supposedly claim. Or probably Jihan is using it to purge the ranks of Bitmain of people who are against him. So nothing to do with bitcoin halving but personal vendetta inside his company.

More than likely, a weak excuse to discard employees and those that are in close connection with Zhan will be the first to be terminated. Though we don't know his real intentions here but it will come later once the dust settles. Jihan should give the fair share to Zhan to avoid further conflict and "war". If he doesn't want Zhan within the company, at least give him his share. Because I think, if the other side is being given unreasonable compensation, then he will not stop the "war" that he's talking about.

Obviously, his intentions are very clear, get rid of Zhan at all cost and get back the power which he succeeded. So this is really a power struggle between the two and I doubt that anyone will give an inch here. I do hope that we remember how Steve Jobs was kick out of his company Apple before.

@CryptoBry - Yeah I agree, it will have a ripple effect and I think the competitors are greatly benefiting from the said 'war'.
7879  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Central bank coins vs crypto space coins on: January 11, 2020, 11:59:22 PM
I've been following the trend news of central banks creating their own digital currencies but a question have since then troubling my mind.

1. These new Central Bank coins are they going to be stable coins or not?

I think majority of them will be stable coins, but I might be wrong.

2. What will happen if they are not stable coins? If holding them will be profitable many will leave crypto space and focus on these new coins?

I doubt it, crypto enthusiast would invest on crypto back by government because of huge tax.

3. Maybe people will just use them as a plus since it's from the government?

It wouldn't hurt if you're going to invest, but I would rather put my money on crypto that I have total control.

4. Will regulations still come after this? I think other coins will be neglected and regulations will only be for coins from government?

Regulations will come, but I don't think that other coins will be neglected. People are still going to invest with crypto.
7880  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Jessie Vargas vs Mikey Garica on: January 11, 2020, 11:40:05 PM

In any case, this will be a good fight. The Nitrogensports odds on Jessie Vargas is very high on 5.23.

That's how favored Garcia to win this match, this could be a great odds for bettors who trust on Vargas to win the fight.
BTW, thank you for bring the odds here.

this answers

These are fiat sportsbook or casinos, why the line is still not available on crypto sportsbook?

odds for reference : https://nitrogensports.eu/sport/boxing/boxing-matches

However, is that how much Mikey Garcia should be favored? The sportsbooks might be giving more value on Jessie Vargas in this fight. It is on welterweight.

To be honest, I was really surprised to find that odds though in paper Mikey's record is good, however, just like you said this is welterweight territory and Mikey hasn't been tested on this waters or at least failed against the best of the division, Errol Spence Jr. And he really look so small at this division.
