7941  Other / Beginners & Help / Another win for the merit system. Thank you LoyceV on: January 17, 2019, 05:44:11 AM
Each time a user successfully rank up and that user have been putting some effort in posting right with quality, it's a win for the merit system. At the beginning of this year I set a goal of ranking up to full memeber after calculating my merit ratio of receiving aleast 1merit every three days but to my surprise it took me just 17days to receive 40+merits without posting any out standing post. If there was any myth that an average poster (like myself) can't rank up due to the merit system then I have busted that myth. I'll like to thank LoyceV most especially for giving me that super advice back in September 2018  to clean up my account and get a fresh start. Which I did and it's paying off.

In conclusion, I'll like to use this opportunity in thanking all my merit fans publicly for constantly rewarding me for my little efforts and give an advice to those aspiring for a full member or member rank, always keep a clean posting history as you post with quality.

Thanks you everyone I'm now a FULL MEMBER.
7942  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is bounties still worth it? on: January 17, 2019, 04:23:35 AM
My question now is if bounties are still profitable?
I used to do Twitter, Steemit, Telegram and Signature bounties, with a good monthly profit. Is it the same now?

Let me break it down to make you understand. Participating via twitter and telegram bounty is now a waste of time since their payout is very low compared to previous pay.  This is due to the huge number of users now involved and bear market effect.

Steemit bounty who had been profitable but the bear market isn't happening matters. Participating via this method might give you decent amount of tokens but don't think they'll be worth that much.

Signature campaign are still quite profitable if you join a decent paying bitcoin campaign. As you can see almost all decent forum posters are wearing ChipMixer.{ MIXING REINVENTEDsignature that's an example of a decent paying campaign.

looking forward to learning a lot about Crypto over the next few months.

Welcome to the forum mate, you can start your leaning from here A Beginner's Guide to Blockchain Technology and you should visit this thread too [GUIDES] on Bitcointalk. Index thread  and read through, it'll be helpful.
7944  Economy / Reputation / Re: [self-moderated] Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source on: January 16, 2019, 11:12:13 PM
Well the write up is theirs (RiseX project) and it's original so since both username are the same i don't think there's an issue their. Read the write up & you'll understand it's more of an advert for their project and normally when projects promote themselves they don't Indicate that same promotional advert was posted somewhere else but that isn't why I reported post. I was more interested in the replies and didn't have smerit to merit them that's why I reported.

Edit: Saw you merited stompix, thanks.

The Lost Ideology of Cryptography. Can we regain it again?
Description : Opinions on cryptography ideology.

avikz and stompix wrote some decent reply there and you can keep an eye on thread, I believe more decent quality replies are coming before spammers take over thread
7946  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Jr Member on: January 16, 2019, 11:11:22 AM
Congrats mate on your ranking up.

What should I do now?

Challenge yourself more.  Member status is just 4merits away so that isn't much of a challenge if you post right and add quality. Don't let signature space via bounty hunting distract you. If you join one be among the few that don't spam forum just to get post count. Do you have a goal for 2019 already? if you don't go set one here and work towards achieving it.
Goodluck ...
7947  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The cost of Copper Membership will raise considerably on: January 16, 2019, 10:50:50 AM
Copper membership is not supposed to be used for donations, but for newbies restrictions

To the forum it isn't a donation but from me it is. I don't have 50BTC to give and I don't need copper membership to avoid newbies restrictions because I'm not a newbie. Me sending that bitcoin does no harm to the forum so we're all good. I just love the name copper (in my county) we call graduate who're serving the county that name 😂 so I see no harm in sending few BTC to receive that name. Other higher rank users are doing so too.
7948  Other / Meta / Re: Merit Source Message on: January 16, 2019, 09:14:43 AM
If you cant see a person who has gifted several bitcoin to forum members via fun competitions deserves at least a thanks not just a "Put me down for $4000" cold comment OK.

Merit shouldn't be given as a gift but as a reward for quality posting. If someone have gifted bitcoin and you reward him with merit it can be considered as a trade. Which is against the merit rules (no buying or selling).

Support your good people, encourage new guys, take the time.

Support them by meriting their quality posts, it'll encourage them to post more of such not by meriting worthless post just because they gave free bitcoin.
7949  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: About the 100 merit thingy on: January 16, 2019, 06:52:02 AM
This is the only airdrop of merit that the forum have carried out, the rest are giveaways carried out individually by forum users.

For current members, your initial merit score is equal to the minimum required to your rank. Of that, a certain amount (less than the usual half) is spendable. The spendable amount was calculated based on your current rank and the number of activity points you earned in the last year. A Legendary member who hasn't posted in the last year would still be Legendary, but would not have any spendable merit.

Member rank users got 10merits
Full memeber rank users got 100merits
Snr member rank users got 250merits
Hero member rank users got 500merits etc

Before the merit system was implemented, only activities were required to rank up so the airdrop was done to correspond with users current rank.
7950  Other / Meta / Re: Merit Source Message on: January 16, 2019, 05:32:36 AM
Its doesn't It isn't going to happen. As I mentioned on my first reply he is spending merit on shitpost then how you expect that he could find good post.

Don't forget that thread is like a court so when he report 2-3 posts and they're all shitpost as you said he'll either be reported by other merit sources to be removed as a merit source or given suggestions by other reputed merit source on what quality post are.   Right now I'll say it could be, he's meriting post just because he agrees to it or maybe he wanted to finish his remaining merits before starting this topic to replicate The Pharmacist's success. I can't really tell though.
7951  Other / Meta / Re: Merit Source Message on: January 16, 2019, 04:38:39 AM
Best solution right now, if you can't wait like other merit sources for your merit to replenish before you start meriting again and don't have earned smerits to send then Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source. I'm sure your follow merit sources will be glad to help merit those posts you report there.
7952  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The cost of Copper Membership will raise considerably on: January 16, 2019, 04:22:37 AM
Thanks mate I never noticed it and since I'm a member ranked users, I don't have much interest in Copper membership but in the spirit of donating to the forum I might buy one at senior member rank.

Concerning your topic body, I believe you misused the code feature. The code feature should be used when you're giving out a code or formula etc (just like I'm about  doing) so use this instead
Code:
[quote]...paste your messages here.. [/quote]

You know that's not a rule, right? You can use it with whatever you want.

No I didn't but now I do thanks.  Although using the write tools should be encouraged. Detergents is for washing while soap is for bathing, get it?  Grin
7953  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can bitcoin be profitable to invest in ? on: January 16, 2019, 04:03:55 AM
Considering the future price, then you can say bitcoin will be profitable to invest in now. Every year new individuals (investors) joins the crypto revolution in there thousands and there's a high possibility of them buying bitcoin. Understanding the rule of demand and supply, you will know the price of bitcoin has only one future movement, which is upwards. So yes, investing in cryptocurrency is profitable but your strategy also has a role to pay, invest wisely, only invest what you'll be comfortable to lose.

Don't take this as a financial advice, I'm not qualified to give that, it's just an opinion.

Your were successful doesn't mean someone else will be.  It could be you were online at the right times to pick those signals, you're the smart type to know when to sell or maybe luck was just on your side. This is how those groups works the admin buys that particular coin/token most times before he send the signals to pump then group members all rush to buy pumping the price and note every pumps comes with a dumps (almost immediate correction) unlike natural growth. Also must pump and dump encourages the buying of worthless tokens which I'm 100% against
7955  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Could we change username on: January 16, 2019, 03:36:00 AM
I have been following this topic and I must say,  I'm disappointed that I can't change my username from the replies I have read above unless I become a donator/vip. Before now,  I was thinking about changing my username from CryptopreneurBrainboss to just Brainboss. Guess I'm stuck with that and the next option (creating an alt account) isn't the best either. I understand that it's for security measures so I'm not that mad about it. Just hoping maybe Bitcointalk will grow to a stage just like facebook and twitter, users can change username even though it's a one time event.  Fingers-cross
7956  Other / Meta / Re: Should we put a merit/post ratio? Like torrent site on: January 15, 2019, 09:40:15 PM
This suggestion from o_e_l_e_o

<***>

Clearly points out a better solution than the one I was proposing first.

Should I lock the thread? Or allow the discussion to continue on this new base ground?

Topic shouldn't be locked yet but you should edit your topic body and update it with o_e_l_e_o suggestions so the discussion can be based on it since his suggestions is more appealing. The topic can be locked when you notice the discussion are been diverted to something else (off topic).

It's an interesting topic, and I just changed my mind from disliking the idea to liking it based on o_e_l_e_o quoted suggestion.

7958  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New to CRYPTO ? on: January 15, 2019, 03:39:43 PM
In day trading risk is high but there are also telegram signals that will help you with pumps some are paid others are free.

Firstly prince, if you're giving an advice which am sure you're not qualified to give,  never advertise pump and dump telegram group before you mislead newbies like yourself. 99.9% of them are scam therefore it's advicible to stay away from them.  If you want to succeed in daily trading go learn the skills instead of depending on paid signals.

New to crypto and don’t know where to start. This thread might be able to help you.

Nope this thread will help you. It has topics like;
Which Bitcoin wallet to use
Which hardware wallet to use
How to sign a message? Etc

You can also visit Index to popular bitcointalk threads and search through to find informative thread especially the scam section it'll safe you a lot.  If you need any other help not mention in any of those thread, use the search button or start a topic and you'll get responds within minutes
7959  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: cabalism13's Simple Tips on Ranking on: January 15, 2019, 01:02:33 PM
I started as a newbie with 0 Merits, just like the others, S_Therapist, r1s2g3, mdayonliner and so on. And as you can see I'm already one of the Full Member League.

Just hoping you aren't an alt account like the cross users above as accused by hilariousetc  Grin Just joking. No doubt the above account have contributed positively especially S_Therapist that's why they get rewarded with merits and ranked up.  Congrats on your ranking up too.  I notice you participating in jet cash's My 25 sMerit offer for a single post contest fastened your ranking up process.

No offends but your post contradict you title "simple" remove the simple. if I was to give a simple tip I'll make it simple, maybe something like post right, post with quality, avoid quote spamming and in addition have a good posting history simple.  The tips is just too long mate.
7960  Other / Meta / Re: Should we put a merit/post ratio? Like torrent site on: January 15, 2019, 12:02:16 PM
I disagree (-1), this is just like saying if I post 20 times on facebook and I don't get a share (or maybe like)  I should be stop from posting. Actually most of my post don't get shared/liked on facebook because they are seen by those who aren't inform about bitcoin and blockchain in general but that's why I make those posts to inform them.

Back to the forum. If I see a technical post especially those ones with all the codes,  I just move on because I don't understand them, Just like my facebook friends do.

That's why I agree with this user when he said,

There are many flaws in this.

2. Most of the people are unmerited even after writing quality posts as they are just not detected by someone with smerits.

But there's a solution Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source i have been using it and so far the results are positive.
