Good to know.  It's to bad that its broken and cant be fixed.
Err OK maybe your Enlgish didn't pick up on that so well.
"Fixed" is changing something that isn't broken but is made to favour a system you don't want it to.

Say you bet $1million on a horse race and I was a casino owner and the rate was 1-40 and the second horse had a rate of 1-5 and there was only $10000 on that horse in total. I may "fix" the state of the bet by paying the jockey to fall off it at a certain jump.

BTW, BTC block numbers are already generated,  there are 21million block numbers.
NO. They are not already assigned. There are NOT 21million.
There ARE 21 million Bitcoins, not 21 million Bitcoin Blocks.

Just pick one,  they are in sequential order.  So yes,  I do expect to see a block number published somewhere (which is not well documented).  It should be placed on the site in a prominent area (along with server seed) with a link to twitter,  not hidden in some twitter file that no one is ever going to open or even knows exists.
There is a link LOOK at the site and you will see it in the lottery page.

I dont actually trust twitter timestamps anyway.  Never have,  never will because they are approximated, batched and have been manipulated in the past.
You don't need to trust twitter as a service or the timestamps that are added as they aren't what makes it provably fair. We don't wnat you to go back 120 lotteries and keep analysing when the results were published.

Twitter < BTC as far as timestamping goes.
I don't understand.

A better solution would be to actually make a BTC transaction with the link to the file instead,  then link the transaction on the site.  No need to rely upon that twitter garbage.
But then you wouldn't trust the blockchain or its timestamps.
And you'd say it's better to use a twitter site then publishing the data on the blockchain.
Also, you can't put a file on the blockchain as there's only 80 bytes you can write to per transaction. And that'd have gone down well a few months ago @TheQuin, you should really get wetsuit to add to the tremendous increase in the number of blockchain transactions, that would've been really useful.

One of the major advantages of BTC are the fact that it can be used for a RNG and a Timestamping tool.  This is a BTC geared site,  why is it using twitter for things that BTC is far superior at?  Makes no sense to me.
So now you know some sort of bewnefits of BTC? Even though you don't actually know how many Bitcoin blocks there are?

Thanks pooya, I got 5f5b9f016 as being 9999000010 on both that website and the built in python denary-to-hex converter, any  suggestions?
7943  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win free Bitcoins every hour! on: June 22, 2018, 02:33:37 PM
Actually, I didn't fully answer as I was waiting for the fool to come back after I already demolished the first half of his argument.

We publish on Twitter a file that contains the number of the block that the hash will provide the client seed. That file also includes the server seed and ticket list. That's everything you need to verify the result.

Edit: I forgot to mention that the server seed is also on display on the Provably Fair tab of the lotto page all week.
86e1f146836a9433a71bde3e485d56e752bdb89e299561df8ce9f35e465e67f4
Is the CURRENT server seed.

Is there a record of every lottery winner's user id? I want to see how close I've ever come to winning anything.

Also is there a script avaliable for verifying it that gets released at the same time or do you assume users can write them (they're fairly easy to write but still)...
7944  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: HASHNEST Discussion and Support Thread on: June 22, 2018, 02:28:36 PM
I just want to clarify something whether they are paying to the members or not? I hear previously they are charging high amount for withdrawals and the answers from them is maintenance fee? Still, they are paying to their community on time?

I'm not sure about their support. The withdrawal fee for Bitcoin is 0.001BTC which is extremely excessive.
The other withdrawal fees don't look too bad - a way to get you to trade them so they get 0.2% presumably.
7945  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: unspendable btc on: June 22, 2018, 02:21:54 PM
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Proof_of_burn. I bit scared, as figures like burned?Huh If Jim port my seed to other wallet....turn spendable again???  Thank you in advance

That's not with Bitcoin. It's for altcoins and is unlikely you have done it as you ahve to send it to an address that isn't your own.

So no, they'd have been sent to someone else before they'd have been burnt and they wouldn't show up in your wallet anyway.

And yes, import your seed into another client.
7946  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win free Bitcoins every hour! on: June 22, 2018, 02:17:56 PM
What does the cost have to do with anything?
Because the tickets are quite cheap.

One can buy as many tickets as they want in powerball. Just like with freebitco.  The CHances to win are very similar but the returns are vastly different.

Between this and an actual lottery, I think that's wrong. Usual lotteries have chances of something like 1 in 13 billion.

The cheaper a ticket is,  the less chances you have because there is always someone richer than you buying more than you.  Whats your point.
When you play a lottery every ticket is the same price. It's the quantity that changes.
There is no way to fix this site's lottery (unless you're considering taking over the bitcon network with a 99% hashrate or something that high - which would be needed to mine every potential block and use the one ending in the hash of the number you need to win). If you did this the 12.5BTC return every 10 minutes should be enough to appease you rather than fixing the odds of a lottery site to get your 1BTC.
Anyone buying 1 or 2 BTC worth of tickets are a bit stupid because they may as well just multiply with that 2BTC and get better odds from it.

Who cares if you publish the block number.  Where are they published and does it include the server seeds.  Thats what he is looking for.
They don't publish a block number the Bitcoin network does. To suggest they are messing up that means you have no faith in Bitcoin as a digital asset.
7947  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Is there anyway to send a transaction in electrum without a fee? on: June 21, 2018, 10:43:00 PM
To set fees manually, go to Tools, then Preferences
, Tick "edit fees manually"
Then you can set a fee you want.
Note that  0 fee transactions won't be relayed by nodes on the Bitcoin network since 0.15

Tried that.
It still sets a 1 sat per byte fee.
I might have to downgrade a bit if there's no other solution.
7948  Bitcoin / Electrum / Is there anyway to send a transaction in electrum without a fee? on: June 21, 2018, 10:15:30 PM
I want to consolodate all my inputs and I would pay a fee (but I like round numbers too much) and miners already get the block reward anyway...

I'm not too fussed about the transaction EVER confirming, I just want to know if it's possible (and want to test my luck at getting it into a block).

I can use the console if it's easier to do it that way.
7949  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: unspendable btc on: June 21, 2018, 09:56:18 PM
Do you know the txid (or the sending and recieving addresses) this will really help us in giving you help.

Usually something is considered unspendable if it has less than a certain number of confirmations. However, it may also depend on the format of the transaction so the txid or recieving address will be very helpful in confirming this.
7950  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win free Bitcoins every hour! on: June 21, 2018, 03:21:22 PM
I don't think advertising fits in with the future direction we have planned. The rebrand is about taking 'free' out of the name and making it primarily a gambling and exchange site. Adverts make it look more like just a faucet site.

What about the doge site? Any plans for that, are the two going to merge?
7951  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win free Bitcoins every hour! on: June 21, 2018, 12:43:44 PM
The low income from advertising on incentivised sites is one reason and the other is that most of the adverts are for things that look quite scammy and we don't want to be associated with them.

Ah yes, there were quite a lot of ponzis that used to get advertised there (there were ads for legitimate stuff like coinbase and other exchanges though).

Maybe, if you tried doing an auction here for a months' worth of adverts you'd get rid of ponzi scammers as they won't plan on their scheme lasting that long.
7952  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Running a node on Raspberry Pi on: June 21, 2018, 12:40:32 PM
https://www.modmypi.com/blog/boost-usb-current - this might be helpful depending on how much you have used your Pi already (if you've already used a hard drive with it then you're good, however, if not, you need to change the config file to state max_usb_current=1)
7953  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win free Bitcoins every hour! on: June 21, 2018, 12:15:45 PM
I'm wondering why there are no ads anywhere on the site? Surely there are enough visitors each day to be a tempting for advertisers.

The ads were removed about a year or two ago. I don't think they were making very much though. I think mostly there's an issue that a lot of the adverts probably came from other faucets or casinos so that might turn people away from freebitco.in (not sure though). I also think they used to charge $0.15 per 1000 impressions - it might have been a bit higher though like 1000000 instead of 1000.

@TheQuin, could you get wetsuit to put ads on freedoge.co.in to try to get the minimum reward up as 0.17 doge is a bit on the low side.
7954  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Help in installing windows Electrum wallet on: June 21, 2018, 11:55:13 AM
bob123 , as far I know in order to hacker can get a chance to steal coins from any Electrum before version 3.0.5 victim need to have open browser and run in a site where hacker is waiting his chance/of course victim need to have Electrum open/decrypted to make the hack successful. So in theory with no open browser older version are safe from this attack?

Yes IN THEORY but that's really risky.

You have to fully encrypt your wallet file (even without it open a json rpc command can be run to get the data from it). It is also possible to boot an app using PHP/Cookies.

You have to ensure all browser processes are completely terminated, not even background processes should be running or any other apps that are on your computer if they're not so trustworthy. Even with a password the request commands can still be changed (the address on the send to window and the amount can be changed also using a json rpc call).

I'm able to connect to it, retry now?
7956  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Unable to Load Transaction from Text and Sign It on: June 20, 2018, 03:36:30 PM
Check that it's definitely the right wallet you're trying to sign the transaction in also.
That could be the problem. First party have signed it using Bitcoin Core which I believe is not compatible with Electrum since it's a HD wallet.
This is definitely the problem.

Get the first cosigner to sign the transaction in electrum (after importing the private key).

Or find a way to convert it into a format electrum can understand.
7957  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: HASHNEST Discussion and Support Thread on: June 20, 2018, 03:16:01 PM
Any idea on when the next generation will be available on Hashnest?
Would be awesome if they released the 7nm or more Algo miners on there.
Don't see how they could lose on that deal, and it's a fun way to mine with such a liquid setup.

I can think there'll probably be a catch with the next one. They seemed to have given up on hashnest until recently, unless it's just me thinking that they've given up because nothing was really needed for a while as their site seems to be running fairly smoothly again.

The catch I'm thinking of is probably making the miners to be sold for like double the price that you could usually buy them for or something. Though it is quite a good way to mine and does usually bring in quite a good profit to get a miner straight from the shop as new (I don't think there's been a miner yet where someone hasn't ROI'd from doing that).

They also usually only like to support three currencies on their site, maybe they'll start doing a thing of offering a hash of each for a certain price and then convert it to Bitcoin. By the three currencies I mean they started off with BTC, LTC and DOGE and now they're limiting it to BTC, LTC and BCC.
7958  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Help in installing windows Electrum wallet on: June 19, 2018, 11:06:43 PM
You need to update windows as the others have suggested and it needs to be updated to windows 7 service pack 1.

You can find the info as to the current operating system installed here: Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\System (after loading explorer/control panel).

You should then get something like this:
7959  Other / Meta / Re: Separate thread for meta and merit on: June 19, 2018, 10:53:50 PM
No, we don't need a new board for this. You can close this thread now.
We have a thread for trust discussion (reputation) so why not have one for merit also. There does seem to be a big merit cloud covering a lot of meta and its own section would help to cut down the meta section more and allow for it to be a place where we can discuss forum software and other ideas without seeing merit everywhere.
7960  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Unable to Load Transaction from Text and Sign It on: June 19, 2018, 10:51:11 PM
Did you get more than one copy of the first signed file from the other party?
If not then you should probably ask for another just in case your signed file has been corrupted along the way.

Check that it's definitely the right wallet you're trying to sign the transaction in also.

If it is a bug after testing this, launch a bug report on https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum
