7941  Economy / Economics / Re: Iran/US tension's effect on crypto and economy ? on: January 10, 2020, 06:13:43 AM
As for cryptocurrency, we see that Bitcoin has slowly returned to its previous price and now, according to CoinMarketCap, its price is 7844 dollars. Apparently, he is not yet ready for growth.

Previous level would be around $7,000 and we are much higher than that, so now if the time to test if we will be able to retain the gains from this pump or not - I believe Bitcoin won't plunge deeper, at least not for long. It's quite ready for growth, the halvening is soon and the market was bearish for more than half a year already, and we have successfully defended the $6,500-7,000 range multiple times already..

It's now on the $7800 range, the so called gains we have because of the supposedly looming wars between the US and Iran is -500$. So their no real effect on the price, except those manipulators who take advantage of the situation to create an artificial mini-bull run and then gets their profits, in short it is a bull trap. I'm expecting the price to plunge further to $7500 again. So we can say that the effect on the price is not sustainable.

7944  Bitcoin / Legal / Bitmain co-founder in legal war against shareholders of the company on: January 10, 2020, 03:52:23 AM
Last October-Nov, there was a coup in Bitmain company bringing back Jihan to power, now the ousted co-founder is fighting back.

Quote
Bitmain co-founder in legal war against shareholders Micree Zhan Khetuan owned four million Class B shares, which translated to ten votes per share. However, the shareholders decided to reduce Zhan’s control of the firm by reducing each Class B share’s value to one vote instead of ten. As such, Zhan asked Cayman Islands Court to discredit this decision and restore his power. As per the reports, Zhan owned around four million Class B shares while Wu Jihan, the only other holder of the special stocks, only owns half as much. The issue arose in October 2019 when Bitmain co-founder Jihan Wu decided to relieve Zhan Khetuan of his duties. Wu announced in an email that Zhan has left the company and that he has been dismissed of all roles. Since then, Zhan has declared that he was removed from his post without his consent, and he would fight for Bitmain “till the end with legal weapons.” Zhan stated that he was betrayed by his trusted partners and stabbed in the back. He added that for those who want “war,” he would give them one. On the other hand, Wu has warned Bitmain employees against interacting with Zhan. Wu has advised employees from taking directions or participating in meetings organized by Zhan. He has explicitly stated that the company may choose to terminate employment contracts of employees that interact with Zhan. Bitmain intends to reduce the workforce by nearly 50 percent as part of its “personnel optimization plan.” It is believed that this is due to the upcoming Bitcoin halving that would reduce mining rewards by half. Since Bitmain is a crypto mining firm, it cannot support its employees with half block rewards and needs to make adjustments.

7945  Local / Pamilihan / Re: How I Got Tricked and Lost all my Cryptos stored in Coins.ph on: January 08, 2020, 10:48:17 AM
I can only think na one possible reason is baka nga inside job. I'm sorry for the OP, at salamat na rin sa pag shout out dito para mas lalo pa nating alagaan ang account (like using 2FA) and strong password at email na pang coins.ph lang.
7946  Local / Pilipinas / Bitcoin Node sa Pilipinas on: January 07, 2020, 10:11:29 AM

https://bitnodes.earn.com/nodes/?q=Philippines

@notblox1 - as long as there are people who are going to sent them in hope that they will get a good returns, scammers will do everything to just repeat the process, so it will be a continuous mouse and game for us.
7948  Economy / Reputation / Re: Binance Fake youtube channel with 240K subscribers on: January 05, 2020, 11:30:12 PM
Roll Eyes I do not understand why they are planning to cheat through Youtube. Youtube has very strict rules, they will lock this channel after it is reported by many people, I don't know how much money they make from newbies, but I think they spend a lot of money to buy one channel with 240k subscribers. These people don't even hesitate, they don't hide their faces, they're showing everyone the face of a liar. I checked Binance and they don't have any media on Youtube, this is a blatant deception.
240k subscribers is very big number, even if it's fake farmed channel and it's probably costs a lot. But I'm sure that these scammers aren't dumb. It's most likely that they reach ROI before their account will be blocked by Youtube. And not ROI only, they are in solid profits. As said above, 3000-5000 were watching this stream, no doubt that quite many people were fooled and sent their BTC to scammers.

Right, I posted this in the B&H section {Beware}:Fake Elon Musk giveaway and how someone fall for the trick. It was not a Youtube channel that push that individual to deposit and lost his money, but the same modus operandi. $3k, damn, those cyber criminals are laughing their ass off when cashing it out. So everyone, be careful as scammers are getting bolder by the day.
7949  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You the local Bitcoin joke in town? on: January 05, 2020, 10:31:08 PM
I've only known BTC in 2017, tell a few close friends and families and I don't know if they have been following bitcoin's dramatic rise and it's subsequent fall. So No, I'm never experience people laughing at me because the price haven't recovered the past two years. And for the record though, we're just around ~60% from the last all-time-high. So let's hope that this 2020 will be different and at least a good bounce to five digit.

Yeah, we felt sorry for them, but on the other-hand, you have to think what kind of judgement do those guys have? Do they really thought that Elon Musk will give them free money?
7951  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Manhattan U.S. Attorney Announces Arrest Of United States Citizen For Assisting on: January 05, 2020, 02:46:06 PM
I think the guy was noble for wanting to teach others, especially within a country like Korea but really he didn't practice his due diligence and is now facing the harshest of consequences. North Korea has a lot of smoke with the U.S, mainly because of all of the threats they have made to wipe it out. This guy Virgil is extremely lucky that he isn't being tried for treason or worse. He could at least have went to contact Dennis Rodman for help first, they literally love Rodman over there more than Michael Jordan as weird as it may sound.

Lol, Maybe the US should use Dennis Rodman as a ambassador of sort.

https://twitter.com/dennisrodman/status/1005395124350869511/

Seriously though, I don't see any noble thing from Virgil here, except maybe he got some incentives to travel to North Korea (I'm just speculating here). That's why all eyes are in this case because all of us are really lost as to what is the real reason of Virgil going to North Korea specially with his wealth of knowledge about crypto.
7952  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Liquidity pushes IEO projects up on: January 05, 2020, 02:03:59 PM
To developers out there, if you still don't know what can easily make your project successful, the answer is liquidity, if the exchange you want to use to raise fund has no big liquidity you won't get better results, Best IEO results are from top exchanges, think very well

Yes, you have a point as we have seen lots of early successful IEO projects being push through large exchanges such as Binance. But I think it's really up to those new projects what platform there are going to launch. Perhaps because of budget strain, they really can go on top exchanges and just chooses mid-tier which will eventually affect the success or failure of their project. I'm sure they have that in mind when they start their project but again due to some circumstance beyond the projects control not everyone can afford to launch their project on big trading platforms.
7953  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who are are your bet for this year's boxing fight of the year on: January 05, 2020, 12:46:28 PM
ESPN: Naoya Inoue-Nonito Donaire is the 2019 fight of the year.

Boxingscene: 2019 Fight of the Year: Golovkin-Derevyanchenko.

Inoue-Donaire is the fight of the year for me. Everyone says that Donaire doesn't have a chance against the Monster, but he almost pull it off. Although Inoue knock him down, Donaire really try to fought back and swing his left hook, unfortunately, it didn't land solidly. But Donaire broke Inoue's orbital bone in that fight, proving that he can still pull the trigger.
No doubt on that and i would vote on the same where Inoue and Donaire fight would be worthy to be the best fight for this year.
I do saw some nominees though which isnt bad either http://thecomeback.com/queensberryrules/2019-articles/2019-boxing-fight-of-the-year-nominees.html

I cant say that Donaire almost pull it off yet even he didnt go down he would still lose in points but that was really a good fight imho.

Well I was banking on that powerful left-hook that can change the complexion of the game. We saw that Donaire did try his best to hit Inoue with his signature check hook, but Inoue has a solid chin. But I do believed that Donaire has broken it already or at least weaken it during their fight, as evident of the broken orbital bone that Inoue suffer.

Anyways, it's time for the OP to lock this thread for good. We're all looking for a good 2020 upcoming boxing fights.
7954  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Jessie Vargas vs Mikey Garcia on: January 05, 2020, 11:38:23 AM
Ok, so by the looks of the comments here, others are favouring Vargas while other half is with the Mikey Garcia bandwagon. Lol. But I love the discussions, in means that it is going to be a good fight, maybe like the Donaire vs Inoue fight, very very exciting.

I just checked Sportsbet.io, there's no betting line yet because we still have a full two months to go. But that is ok, at least we can prepare our betting money as early as today because I'm sure, with the number of boxing fans here, it will be interesting what will be the odds and the ML with it opens.

@virasog - thanks for the detail.

What can you say about the undercard? JC Martinez vs Jay Harris?

7955  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Bitcoin price umabot ng $29,000 sa Iran ano ang masasabi nyo dito? on: January 04, 2020, 01:26:57 PM
Marami nang use case tayong nakita:

[1] Venezuela crisis
[2] Zimbabwe

Base parin talaga ang lahat sa law of supply and demand.
7956  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Kraken sued by ex-employee on: January 04, 2020, 12:31:43 PM
So how many Federal banking regulations supposedly Kraken violated here?

Falsifying business records or business address is already a crime right? If I'm the whistle blower, I wouldn't go for out of settlement though, he already drag himself here so why the hell will he do that?

We really can't say for certain what's the real intention of Runyon here.

Anyhow, just beware of Kraken for now, as they could certainly be running a fractional reserve, which is prone to runs.

Right, I do hope that they are not the next exchange to 'shutdown' because of the pending case, but to be on the safe side, I wouldn't put put some of my money on Kraken because of the ongoing issues.
7957  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do traders spend crypto when they can? on: January 04, 2020, 11:58:20 AM
I'm not saying it's entirely bad. Trading has helped bring a lot of people seeking profits into the space, but are they doing anything else? So I'd like to know what you do with your trading gains, does it just roll into a larger bag,  do you sell and cash out in Fiat, or are you trying to also spend coins when the opportunity presents itself. I'm open to all opinions, as I'm sure many people here see things differently. I've just had thoughts that this aspect of the overall economy has developed disproportionately to the marketplace portion, and feel it has a net negative effect.

In my case, some of my fiat is in crypto (specially BTC) so if the need arises I have to sell some and convert it to fiat. And there are times that I used my crypto directly to pay my monthly bills (internet, credit cards, electric and even water). So I would say that I did my share to 'recycle' my coins and bring it back to the ecosystem at some point in time. Right now I'm contemplating of cashing out around $1k to pay for my kids school. And then buying back when there is an opportunity.

Yes, I just saw that reminder from coins.ph earlier this morning.
