7981  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Crypto space needs education - New Platform Coming on: April 18, 2019, 01:42:30 AM
i believe they are not offering totally free services here. you have to pay for some of them.
if they will offer an absolutely free crypto education, how can they maintain their operations? they need to earn somewhere..

Then they should not said this

We need to reach new people and give them the most relevant and updated information for FREE!

I think they can get funds from advertising or donation. Though I failed to enroll on the course so I can't check the content whether it's already explained somewhere or not.
7982  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Making cryptocurrency part of the basic level of education curriculum on: April 18, 2019, 01:17:28 AM
It would sure not be a bad idea to include cryptocurrency into your curriculum.

Why? I think that'll add more workload. On top of that, it's very easy to learn about crypto (just for the general stuff) through the internet. If they want to contribute on development then that means they'll need to learn about coding, algorithm and so on, and there's a university for that.

Tbh crypto knowledge is easy to access, and there's no need for test / passing grade to judge whether you're an expert on crypto or not. It's basically teaching yourself on how to manage your money, how to keep it safe, where to spend or use them etc. 7 days is enough to learn about the gist of it.
7983  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Why has Harvard University invested in Blockstack’s token sale? on: April 18, 2019, 01:00:44 AM
AFAIK it is not started yet, so Harvard is not invested in them at this moment. It's a bit misleading imo.

Anyway, the one who (reported) going to invest in this token sale is Harvard Management Company, not the university itself. They're mainly an organization which aims to provide funds for Harvard if I get it correctly.

Interesting that they are okay with 'gambling' their money through a token sale like this.
7984  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Need Help With Bitforex Exchange on: April 18, 2019, 12:45:26 AM
All the right answers and advice from the participants of the discussion You have already received, as I understand. I also use the services of this exchange, but not in such volumes. However, this is disturbing news for everyone! I wonder if You received your funds on the Bitforex exchange?

It's been seven days after OP last login. Maybe he solved this problem and got his USDT or he just gave up trying to get his money back.

I've been using this exchange several times and I've more or less similar issues, like pending withdrawal and then I need to contact their live support. It's a painful experience and I'd rather not use this exchange anymore.
7985  Other / Off-topic / Re: [GUIDE] Using bookmark tool in Chrome to mark bitcointalk topics/ posts on: April 18, 2019, 12:32:17 AM
I made it yesterday, but I am not familiar with Firefox because I usually use Chrome, or Tor browsers. However, I will edit the topic later today when I have time. If you have anything to contribute, please feel free to leave it there
[GUIDE] Using Bookmark tool in Firefox to mark bitcointalk topics/ posts

Appreciate your time to make this guide, but I believe there is no need to make two separate threads for this. You can edit this thread to something like "Using bookmark tool in your browser" etc. And then create separate sections for Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc. It would make it easier for people to search and save their time from scrolling all the way down.

Nice guide btw, though I'm sure bookmark is not entirely new, maybe some people can't do it.
7986  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Crypto is an industry, not just a bunch of coins. on: April 18, 2019, 12:24:56 AM
I started to collect badges of different cryptocurrencies out of the rankings https://coinmarketcap.com/.
In our country, as in many other countries, I think today there is a trade in symbols of all the leading crypto-currencies.
So someone used to collect stamps, someone badges, now it is possible to collect crypto symbols and it's fun!!!

This sounds like fun. So you're basically selling stickers of crypto coins/tokens? It's quite interesting to see that people want to have something like that. I personally never interested in that kind of thing but it seems business is developing rapidly.

I'd probably open up an education channel or blog about crypto in my local language asap if I have time. And then sell something for crypto, maybe my writing services. Though it's really a competitive field because a lot of people can simply do that in their spare time, and it's difficult to write something and get the attention for it unless you can write a really good article, or simply has lots of real followers/friends.
7987  Other / Serious discussion / Re: The mind of a HODLer on: April 18, 2019, 12:13:25 AM
I've been doing a bit of trading to increase the amount of Bitcoin I can buy with my investment deposit, and as soon as the price turns against me when I am holding Bitcoin, then I move the coins into my savings wallet, and I replace the investment fund with fiat. I believe that it is important to make sure that all savings are kept in a wallet over which you have complete control, and free from the temptation to speculate with it. I will watch the market, and at some stage in the future I will start to take profits. I don't intend to HODL and leave my Bitcoin in my will. I'm not sure of a name for a medium term investor, who optimises his accumulation price.

Sounds like a nice strategy, but it requires time to do it I assume, especially those traders that you mentioned buying at the bottom and sell when they reach some points (maybe fibbo or resistance line). That's probably one of the challenges or maybe the factors in which people differ. I personally don't have enough time to find the bottom or do any trades, so accumulating and wait for the next bull run is probably a better choice for me. I'm not saying it's the best strategy to get profits, because you risk your chances to exit early when there's an incoming dump and then buy later.

it's really true and it's a true holder who will never panic when the market experiences a drastic decline like last year. because the thought of a good and good holder is better to be patient, wait for a long time, but can earn a huge income. and that's what a true holder thinks

Holder doesn't earn an income, but profits. Just for the sake of clarity.
7988  Other / Off-topic / Re: [GUIDE]TWIENDS.COM - how to get countless followers on Twitter? on: April 17, 2019, 10:07:48 AM
Hey Lucius, since you have been using it for a while, have a question for you. If you use such a service, would you get shadow banned? Pretty sure Twitter has algorithms to detect how active users are (ie. whether they engage in your tweets or not). If you have a massive following with little engagement, would this mean trouble?

Also, have any tips to share on growing twitter accounts?

Based on my experience, as long as you're not following or unfollowing aggressively, then the chance to get locked (there is no shadow ban on Twitter) is relatively small. However other factors might count such as your post habit, your retweet habit and so on. My last Twitter account was locked and impossible to recover because I write a lot about one project that I support (and it's not a part of a bounty, but it seems there's a lot of bots who report a post related to that project for unknown reason).

In order to grow your Twitter account organically, then your choice is to develop a meaningful content on Twitter, become famous first, or interact with lots of people organically. Joining a bounty program is definitely not your best choice to grow your Twitter account.
7989  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance to open Singapore fiat-to-crypto exchange in April on: April 17, 2019, 09:57:41 AM
The integration of faint into they exchange will automatically solve the problem we face with the bank and master card that most time prevent buyer from using they platform to purchase bitcoin, the Singapore crypto fiat exchange when operational will help those in the Singapore region to purchase bitcoin with they brand of the dollars rather then going through the usual hustle of buying from the old merchant.

There are several options for Singaporean users if they want to exchange fiat to Bitcoin and vice versa, like Luno. More info can be found at https://www.buybitcoinworldwide.com/singapore/.

So this Binance thing is not really a breakthrough, just add more alternative for them. Let's stop making Binance as the divine god in cryptocurrency space. They aren't making any new breakthrough sometimes and just copy-paste other tactics like running an IEO.
7990  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-04-17] Mozilla Firefox: The Latest to Jump on the Encryption Bandwagon on: April 17, 2019, 09:47:17 AM
This news is old, it was first posted on 29th March and not on 17th April. I think this is not really related to Bitcoin too, so it's a bit off topic imo.
7991  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-04-17] Crypto.com donates $500,000 worth of funds to Binance on: April 17, 2019, 09:35:26 AM
It's actually not a donation to Binance per se, but funds that were sent to Binance Charity Foundation wallets (according to CZ). So the sender might want to use BinanceBCF to donate to other parties.

It is quite funny if somebody donates $500k to Binance as they can make that money from their own exchange.
7992  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: On Bitcoin cycles on: April 17, 2019, 05:59:43 AM
there is no bitcoin cycle, it all depends on the market, the bitcoin volume is very sad right now, considering the price is fantastic at the end of 2017, I don't know how it was in 2015, because I don't know bitcoin

How can you said that there is no bitcoin cycle if you don't follow and look at past history? Though the 4-year cycle is debatable but there's a solid reason to believe after the halving there's a price increase (though it can be labeled as self-fulfilling prophecy too).

As for me, bitcoin isn't following any cycles. It's volatile and unstable so we can't conclude that it's repeating the exact path as before. Though some historical cycles can be used to predict the future trend, I believe that no bitcoin cycle could repeat or could ever have the same version of itself.

The 'historical cycle' that you mentioned above is clear proof that some pattern exists.
7993  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: 2 phishing websites shows on search engine when searching about Electum DDOS on: April 17, 2019, 02:34:28 AM
Edit: It seems someone already victim again with electrum[.]bz in reddit from here

It still amazes me how some people could fall to an explicit fake site like this. Don't they know about the legit site or do their DNS/computer gets hijacked somehow? How come do they know about Electrum in the first place? Looks like we need to increase spreading awareness about Electrum legit site and about phishing attack in general.
7994  Local / Altcoins (Bahasa Indonesia) / Re: [LIST] Rekam Jejak Translator Indonesia on: April 17, 2019, 02:22:42 AM

7995  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: ELECTRUM - BITCOIN WALLET on: April 17, 2019, 02:16:41 AM
7996  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: Masa Bodoh dengan ETF, Kripto Memiliki Ruang Tersendiri on: April 17, 2019, 01:59:12 AM

Rencananya mau buat area operasi sendiri, Om.

Kurang paham maksudnya.

Yup, tapi pencucian uang lewat bank tetap lanjut dong.
