7981  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 17yo girl faces fine for using pepper spray against sex attacker on: January 28, 2016, 10:40:21 AM
Everyone who is in favor of gun control in the United States need to see this. This is what happens when you allow the liberals to take away your guns. First they will take away your guns. Then they will take away your kitchen knife. After that they will ban you from carrying pepper spray or any other substance, which could be useful in defending yourself. The left-wing loonies want to make you defenseless against the rapists and murderers.

If the law system works great there won't be rapists and murderers other than psychopats. Give 25 to life to rapists and murderers in bad conditions and see how many people dare this again.

doesn't matter if you're sarcastic with this but i somehow find it very doable for the government to implement such. its always fear that will make these low life back off. its death that will always make them back off. and putting it in thier minds that they will surely find death if they commit such crime so long as they are caught with evidence and a witness itself, the criminals would be dead before they'd have their day on court.

Allowing people to defend themselves would be madness, but allowing your wives, mothers, daughters, and sisters to be raped then executing the attacker isn't? Funny, aren't these things Europeans have been criticizing Americans about for years (ie the death penalty)?
7982  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Should Muslims be aloud to impose Sharia law anywhere in the United States? on: January 28, 2016, 10:30:44 AM
Technically all law is based on religion...

Indeed, but some law and religions have developed a lot, some other religions and law systems are still there were they were fifteen hundred years ago. Perpetuality and sticking to old traditions are nice things in many areas but not that great in law.

Way to ignore everything I just posted and fall to your previously held belief of "religion bad!"
7983  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Should Muslims be aloud to impose Sharia law anywhere in the United States? on: January 28, 2016, 06:54:42 AM
No, why? its not a muslim country, i respect muslims, but their laws should stay on their home country
No no no no no no no no, a thousand times no.  I agree, their laws should stay in their homeland.  My personal view is that any religious law is silly and superstition-based and has no part in a modern society.  So I would vigorously oppose Sharia law in the US.

Technically all law is based on religion. If you research the history of law it all goes back to religious texts, some of which are still in use word for word today in modern law. There is some debatable value to some of these laws as most people agree murder, theft, rape, and other forms of crime are in opposition to the foundation of a civil society even though the laws have a religious origin. Most people misunderstand the concept of separation of church and state. Many people assume that it means all concepts of faith and God should be removed from law and government. In reality it means that the government is not allowed to infringe on any individual's right to practice their religion as long as it does not bring direct harm to others. This was a direct reference to Britain's hybridization with the church, and meant to prohibit such an arrangement between any church and the US government.

The most important thing to remember about the relationship between God and law is not about cloudmen looking down and judging you, but the concept that there is something higher than government, higher than money, and higher than man itself that we should all pay respect too religious or not. To ignore this is to literally give the government all of the powers reserved for the commonwealth/God, and if you didn't believe before, you will pray God does exist after seeing the very real hell that results when men try to abuse all of the authority and rights formerly reserved by "God"/the commonwealth. Without this distinction we are literally nothing more than property. I don't think most people want this regardless of their beliefs.

Everyone has sex. Every religion. Every people or race.
How can that be against God?
It makes no sense. How are we supposed then to "spread our seed" and populate the earth?

It's not. Liathon is just an uneducated Marxist agitator pathetically attempting to destroy the concept of religious faith as a whole with his click bait garbage.

Agitator! He should be kicked out of the building. Just using air to spread his filthy ideas!

If he was just an agitator I wouldn't have a problem with him. It is the uneducated Marxist part I have disagreement with.

7987  Other / Politics & Society / Re: "Socialism" the most looked up word of 2015 on: January 28, 2016, 01:11:25 AM
Maybe in fantasy ideology land communism as a state is an oxymoron, but every communism that has existed has been state communism where profits are privatized and debts are socialized.
I'm guessing that you're referring to either Czechoslovakia or China or Soviet Union, these were/are socialist republics. And this fact is easy to check at wikipedia.org.

Could you provide at least one reference to "communism that has existed"? I'm asking because I don't remember any state of this kind.

Any wonder? Perhaps now Americans will come to learn there is a difference between socialism and communism.

Is this the part where you tell me no true communism has ever existed? I see in general by your posts in this section you are a reasonably intelligent person, but you are wrong on this one. As a result I am not going to bother insulting your intelligence, but rather suggest you reexamine the historical record of attempts at communism and weigh the pros and cons of the results to other systems of ideology/government/economics, because neither socialism or communism are effective forms of any of those things, unless the effect you seek is destruction of civil society while the oligarchs suck the remaining bits of capital from the charred remains.

7988  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What's your opinion of gun control? on: January 28, 2016, 01:03:03 AM
There are countries where guns are not allowed and where people haven't even heard a gun shot. But no, the US knows better. Because John Wayne fans want to be all cowboys.

... and all French men ride bicycles around wearing a horizontal black and white striped shirt and a beret with a loaf of french bread under their arm, and a wedge of cheese in their hand and a bottle of wine under the other arm while they twirl their mustaches.

Any other stereotypes derived from entertainment media you would like to throw out there to justify your opinions?

Maybe in fantasy ideology land communism as a state is an oxymoron, but every communism that has existed has been state communism where profits are privatized and debts are socialized. The communist ideology might claim to want to be stateless, but that doesn't magically make it so. It is a flawed ideology that caters to all the base instincts of common men promising the world and delivering only strife.

15 days of lag between public posting and him making a statement about it after 2 years of inactivity is not exactly a negligent amount of time. As far as how it got hacked, he has been inactive since the latest forum hack.
7991  Other / Politics & Society / Re: "Socialism" the most looked up word of 2015 on: January 27, 2016, 03:14:56 AM
the way i see it, socialism is more of an economic model that revolves around the idea of equal distribution of resources (as we know). communism however, i see it as a societal / government model that implements socialism as its economic policy / base for decisions. I make this distinction on the basis that a society or government is composed of two main parts: a political model, and an economic model. as we know, communism does employ the ideals of socialism as its economic model, but in conjunction with a controlling, central political model to accompany it (either based on a single, absolute ruler, or the elite few), resulting in a government controlled, equal distribution of resources to the public. The two of course, go hand in hand.

If you actually go read some of Marx's original writings, he himself describes socialism as a means for delivery of communism.

Republic > Democracy > Marxism > Socialism > Communism
7992  Other / Politics & Society / Re: City of Reno replaces American Flag with Gay Flag on: January 26, 2016, 11:26:37 PM
I don't have anything against gay people but this is the shit that bothers me... Why can't you just shut the fuck up and carry on with your lives... what do they want to prove? This is just pissing off people.

You know what is really funny, if you talk to most gays or lesbians this kind of shit pisses them off more than the most bigoted redneck you can find. Most homosexual people just want to be treated like everyone else, and these kind of activist groups are what actually draws more hate and discrimination towards them and makes living like everyone else more difficult.
7993  Other / Politics & Society / Re: "Socialism" the most looked up word of 2015 on: January 26, 2016, 11:22:43 PM
Apparently socialism is the most looked up word of 2015.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
Not a bad thing if people are learning about politics. Looking up the word doesn't mean they agree  Smiley

It will be just curiosity, when Ron Paul came along I found myself looking up Libertarianism and eventually Anarchism many student now aren't taught a thing about what I'd call real politics, they're only taught it in the context of what's mainstream, so they'll likely have never heard of Socialism before.

Quote
Socialism involves the sharing of economic resources fairly between the population, whereas communism includes this, but also involves breaking down the class system itself. With communism, the workers actually own everything, and are paid based on their need rather than the work they've done. But with socialism, they are instead paid based on the work they've done, and the state owns everything.

Am I thinking along the right lines? I find it a little complicated if I'm honest...

That's correct to an extent, Socialism and Communism in general revolves around controlling the means of production, in short they both want to control the factories, the infastructure, we all use or rely on, on a daily basis. The differences between Socialism and Communism are what methods they use to achieve that. I don't know about Socialism being about being controlled by the state, I'm not sure about that, but Communism definitely is about the state, this is why you see so many self-declared Communist states devolve into a dictatorship because that's pretty much what they're advocating but they make it sound nice by claiming wealth will be redistributed and everyone will be better off.

What's very interesting though is a lot of self-proclaimed Socialists and Communists you'll find at universities and so on have absolutely no fucking clue about this, they're just all about taxing the rich and think that by all of a sudden taking over the government everything's going to fix itself, they have no real knowledge of what their own ideology is about. I happen to know this because I went onto a supposedly left wing Anarchist subreddit and they pretty much displayed that, the left seems to be entirely co-opted by feminists now that only care about gender or identity politics and attacking people over trivial bullshit.

I am shocked, amazed, and encouraged that for once I didn't have to be the one to explain this to people here. Great summary of socialism. On a related note, Marx actually wrote about feminism in his original writings and used that ideology as one of his groups of "disaffected masses" to control legions of "useful idiots" to spout his Marxist ideologies under cover of activist groups which are really more about socialism than activism on the subject they claim to support. In effect Marx created feminism as it is known today as a social movement.

Gotta love the fucking hackers on this forum.   Angry

Please don't call him a hacker. Calling him a hacker is like calling a mouse trap a hunter.

Then why are you asking for a refund 1 MONTH later? Also, if you buy a digital movie, to do you have resell rights? NO, YOU DON'T.

I love the irony of you complaining about your intellectual property rights over some one selling your method to defraud some one else of their intellectual property rights. You need to get a life.

Just saying.

Arrogant? What the fuck? I made a very short statement about you editing my quote which directly effects me by the way. Point out whatever you want, but don't edit out the part where I warned the information might not be valid and then tell me its wrong and I should update it douchebag.
7998  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What's your opinion of gun control? on: January 25, 2016, 10:08:57 PM
Who gives a fuck what the French think about our domestic laws? What are they going to do? Not call us for help again next time they get their asses kicked?

Dude if you don't want my opinion don't go on a thread named "your opinion on guns' control".
For the "not call us for help" part, yeah thanks when you see how you screwed us after I wonder if nazis were not better...
And I like it how WWII is the proof of French incapacity to protect themselves and American great heart but how Lafayette is forgotten.

I'll take the time to read your links later. But as I said and as you ignored, I apologized for the misunderstanding of the stats you provided. I can't really give you more than an apology. But it doesn't demonstrate your point as I was talking about violent crimes. Of course you could argue that "making a population safe" aso includes minor crimes like thefts. But guns won't increase thief, that's rather obvious there is no corelation between the two.

So I was talking about violent crimes rates and homicides. That's why I was talking about mass shootings.

And if my opinion offenses you, again don't go on a thread made for that or ignore me.

I came here to debate the pros and cons of gun control, but you clearly are not interested in debate because you automatically latch on to the most meaningless part of a conversation to try to give yourself some kind of moral high ground that you already took a crap on 5 pages back. I want to have a debate about gun control with you and others, you do not want to debate me, you want to tell me your opinions and ignore facts I present while cherry picking your own stats and then not understanding what you are even sourcing.

You couldn't offend me if you tried, you however are obviously very offended by my opinions based on your response to my production of information that is counter to your existing beliefs. You have such strong confirmation bias you literally will not even look at any one else's information. In summary its not about you offending me or not wanting to debate you, its that your opinion means nothing to me much like the facts I present mean nothing to you. The difference between us is I will look at facts when you present them, but so far I see 98% opinion, and any facts are from statistics sites I sourced. Not impressed.

What is generally offensive however is some Frenchman that doesn't have any idea what he is talking about trying to argue that I should be disarmed in my own country and not be able to protect myself so he can feel morally superior. Why would anyone be offended by foreigners trying to define laws in a country they don't even live in? French won't even speak English to people when they visit your country, but you get to tell us if we are allowed to defend our lives and country at home? Frenchy please...

When you are done looking up the big words in my previous reply please do respond.

P.S. I think with the invasion of Muslim "refugees" from "Syria" moving into Europe, that it is far too dangerous for your police to be armed. I think in preparation for this incoming wave of crime and violence that you should disarm your law enforcement. After all, guns cause more violence than they prevent right? In the end you will be much safer in your hole 6ft under.

The huge amount of MISINFORMATION about guns in the USA leads me to provide this link, which is Federal.  States may have more restrictive laws.

https://www.atf.gov/questions-and-answers/firearms-qas

Great Link. Unfortunately your first mistake was assuming people give enough of a shit to spend 3 minutes reading to educate themselves. It is much much simpler to stare at a talking glowing box and let it tell you what your opinions are for you. It cuts out all the pesky straining mental work of thinking for yourself. Notice how the pro-gun control crowd are usually not rocket scientists? That is not a coincidence...
