Will Bitcoin overcome PayPal? No one knows...
CAN Bitcoin overcome PayPal? Most certainly!

The developers should figure out the scaling issues now. I am talking for long-term so that we don't need to go through this again when the price is, say, $50,000.

I don't have a backup plan. My Bitcoins will stay where they are now and I will hope for the best - because I don't know all oft he technology behind it to get involved I just trust in the developers to do what is right for the future of the coin.

I thought I heard someone say if the internet went down, Bitcoin would still be around. It is just that most people would not know or have the technological capability of actually accessing and/or using it so it would become essentially pointless for that reason alone. Personally, I know quite a bit about Bitcoin, but if the internet went out aside from paper wallets I would have no idea whatsoever how to use them... so I would have to agree that gold is more valuable because at the end of the day it is more simple and things which are simpler tend to work better generally speaking.

Practically no one asks me about Bitcoin. In fact, I am always the one asking others about it. It seems most people are still unaware of this technology.

Apparently there was already a hard fork back in 2010 (I wasn't around at this time) and everything went smoothly. Hopefully, it will be the same with SegWit.

I wonder if Bitcoin will actually rise above the $1,000,000 that people are saying and actually become $10,000,000+?

If governments shut the internet down, Bitcoin would still exist, but would be essentially unusable.

Very low risk.
Considering Bitcoin has jumped all the way from just 1 cent to over $3,000 each in only 7 years, it is quite safe to say you will not be risking too much by investing at least a little bit of your savings.

So you actually can't buy, or it is illegal if you get caught?
