81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] MasterCoin [MST] Sync problems fixed, updated 9 Sept 2013 on: October 30, 2013, 02:30:19 AM
Regardless of what happens to the naming, I think people should be more concerned with the actual blockchain. If Cryptsy cannot connect, then there is no point in arguing about the name. Without a connection they cannot receiving or process coins.

If anyone still has an active connection to other people in the chain, let me know right away and I will get my pool back up, so we can start mining again.

If I am wrong about Cryptsy, then I am glad, because when I talked to them yesterday, they said and I quote "Sadly I am also showing that we have 0 peers on the network. I will talk to Vern about how to proceed." No peers = no mining. No mining = dead coin.

I really hope I am wrong, but before you jump in and denounce me, prove me wrong by showing me an IP to connect to, that will get me back on the network.

OK... So my pool no longer has any peers. Does that mean this coin is now officially dead?

If not, please send me the IPs of any still functional nodes. If none exist, I will be closing my pool.

Thanks everyone.

UPDATE:

I have gotten in touch with Cryptsy and they confirm they have no connections either. I think this coin may be actually dead at this point. I will wait for 24 hours to see if the developer does anything and, if not, I will be decommissioning my pool and probably recommending that Cryptsy.com delist it.

Your assuming you would not get a refund prior to shipment?  This is not BFL.

I agree. We may not be getting these as quickly as we wished. But I believe that if you request a refund BEFORE the shipping starts, ssinc will get you taken care of. Seems to be a stand-up guy.

Just a quick comment on compensation. I used every coin I had to buy the 6 Furies that I ordered. If compensation involves a discount on a future order, that is absolutely worthless to me. I will not be able to order stuff in the future until I get more coins.

The only compensation I would be ok with is a refund of half of the coins I spent on this. Or at the very least, for every 2 I ordered, get a 3rd one free, so my order changes from a total of 6 to 9.

I do not like the idea that compensation will not be announced until AFTER things have shipped out to us. We all paid to get miners in the first or second week of Oct. We all grumbled, but accepted the delay in PCBs for an additional week. And we all (most) were calmed a bit by an announcement of a compensation plan. After all that, the soonest anyone will see them is end of the fourth week of Oct, maybe even 1st week of Nov.

I know this delay is caused by forces out of anyone's control, but since a deal was made and (unintentionally) broken, I think we are at least entitled to know what form and quantity of compensation we are getting. If that information cannot be forthcoming or, if in my case, if it turns out to be worthless, then please cancel my order and refund my 5.3 BTC.

And, just so we do end up having another BFL refund fiasco here...

We were quoted 2 prices, 1 for users paying cash and 1 for users paying in BTC. I chose BTC. We were quoted BTC, paid in BTC, and want to get refunded the BTC that we paid. Not the current value in cash. If we wanted to deal in cash, we would have paid cash.

So are the shipments TO THE BUYERS (Us, not to the distributor or any other middleman/woman), going to be labeled and in the mail/shipping  system before Close of Business tomorrow, 2013-10-25 or not?

This is nothing personal to ssinc or BeastlyMac. These guys know what they are doing and I respect them for their endeavors, but like it has been said before (several times) "Business is business". When you offer an item, receive payment, and then any circumstances make your original deal unobtainable, you need to give the options for others to remove themselves from the deal.

(Sorry... Guess it was not a quick comment, more of a grumpy, frustrated rant. But true nonetheless)

Shares were getting entered into the database, but there was a block that did not coincide with any known share ID and that cause the cron designed to update user balance to stop. Fixed the errant block and the issue is fixing itself now. Everyone mining continues to receive valid shares and the payouts should start back up in a few minutes.

hello ssinc. Question for you....

Is this a guaranteed delivery of 1st week of October, and is there any chance that this group buy could get cancelled and all payments refunded??

The chance exists but is HIGHLY unlikely. BPMC will manufacturer all of the the orders on demand starting next week and begin delivery the following week (first week of October). If for any reason BPMC cannot deliver I will refund everyone's orders.

If these do not ship by Friday I would like to request a refund. 1st week of Oct turned into 2nd week, now we are into the 3rd week

Drillbit thumbs are shipping @ BTC.65
And the nanofurys ship soon @ BTC.58

As much as I regret not getting them, I have to agree with bitterdog. And I think starting the 22nd we are actually into the 4th week of Oct. I REALLY hope these ship by Friday, I have my RPi all setup and just waiting for some Furies.  Strangely enough I also just got my tracking number for my BFL order. Never thought I was going to see that thing anytime soon.

Come On, Beastly!! Show us the Furies! Smiley

Just received my tracking number today. I get charged $.08/KWH here. I would have to be charged $3.54/KWH to make it unprofitable at TODAY'S value and difficulty. <muted>hooray</muted>

So I need to ask ... is Nibble/Nybble still a viable currency? I have had a pool running for quite a while but unless I am mining it, I do not see any activity on the blockchain. I am considering closing it and making room for more active coins.

Thoughts anyone?
90  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: finding blocks when mining in a pool on: October 10, 2013, 09:52:30 PM
Easiest way to think about it is this...

Pooled mining = Share the work, share the reward (even if someone else finds the block)

Solo mining = Get really lucky and find a block yourself, keep the whole thing. (Good luck with that as far as BTC goes)
91  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: What else can you do with an Asic USB Miner? on: October 10, 2013, 09:48:10 PM
Modern chainmail (EruptorMail) armor or the newest trend in earring fashions.

Seriously though I will probably tuck mine away in a corner somewhere and rely on pure luck to find a solo mine block.
92  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: POLL - Why are you mining? on: October 10, 2013, 09:33:44 PM
I was originally doing it just for fun, but as time went on, I was doing fairly well and set myself the goal of getting a new computer and maybe some mining hardware out of the deal. Been mining since Feb and just completed my goals yesterday with the arrival of the last of my computers parts (still waiting of mining hardware, guess who I bought from Wink ), so I will call it a (mostly) win.

Sucks a great deal. I had just gotten a nice procedure down for USD depositing into my Dwolla account. And now it's ending Sad
94  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The Regret Thread on: October 10, 2013, 08:15:42 PM
My regret was not quite as painful as yours, but was almost identical.  Heard about mining, mined 3 blocks @ 50BTC each, heard about 10,000BTC pizzas, gave up mining, reformatted computer without backing up wallet. Fast forward 3 years and started kicking myself.

So since there is a lot of shipping going between locations, I would like to clarify something. An October 15 shipping date is which shipment? Fabrication to BeastlyMac? BeastlyMac to you? You to Us? Because if they are not going to ship the Blue Fury to BeastlyMac until the 15th, doesn't that mean it might be more like the 22nd or later before we see them?

I am not criticizing, I just trying to nail down an approximate date when we will start actually receiving the miners.

When I just looked, it seems that http://btb.ltcoin.net is at block #6443. The block explorer at http://btb.cryptocoinexplorer.com/ is at block #26166. Which is the correct one? Because I am pretty sure more than 6443 blocks have been mined since May 01, 2013. It also looks like http://btb.ltcoin.net has mined ALL of the blocks on their chain.

UPDATE:  Looking closer at the blockchain, it appears that the blocks http://btb.ltcoin.net is solving now, were actually solved back in May.

Look at the info for block 6443 at this Explorer link.  http://btb.cryptocoinexplorer.com/address/BDkaH1mPfYsGSgYLuxzPsHiCgiMBeqJeD2

Waiting on Beastlymac to say he's ready to accept my order and I have a few pending customers that need to submit payment.

He's busy getting everything ramped up for production at the moment but I'm sure he will announce publicly the timeline for delivering.

Just to clarify this, but he is already in production, correct? You just meant he is INCREASING production quantity. The way you worded it, it sounds like he has not actually started producing these yet. I hope I just misinterpreted that statement Smiley
