81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XRP] Ripple Speculation on: January 06, 2018, 08:47:23 PM
I would like to hear people's opinion on XRP/Ripple.  News, Trends, Concepts, Technical Issues... anything pro or con that might be indicative of it's survival or growth opportunities in actual real world use cases.   Or things that indicate it's failure.

Here is my two cents to start it off, starting with a Disclaimer.
Disclaimer: I have weighted portfolio of Bitcoin (5 - 10%), Ethereum (70 - 80%), XRP/Ripple (10 - 25%). I'm a HODLer, not a Day Trader,a nd reportionments are done rarely based on trends.  My purpose of this post is to try and determine whether a repportionment of Ripple is appropriate.  And I am currently of an equal mind.  33% to lower stake.  33% says stay hte course.  33% says increase shares.  So real certainty here I tell ya!  LOL    Hoping someone will say something here to un-jam my mental logs.

My current facts as "I" see them....

CURRENT PRICE:  Ripple is doing absolutely nothing.  No real motion in any direction except sideways.  Only recent facto that may be contributor is the court case that allowed prior founder (McCaleb) to unload his billions of XRP at a current rate of "0.5% of average daily volume for each day of the week, including weekends and holidays".  So hardly anything of much substance, however, the fact that the price hasn't gone down means that there are at least enough buyers to keep the price even.

NEWS: I keep a very steady eye on Ripple, constantly trolling news, webs, boards for info.  Again - nothing.  Almost a total black hole of current news.  The only recent "news" are name dropping tidbits about SBI Holdings in Asia wanting to use Ripple.  Microsoft Azure being open to Ripple blockchains.  R3CEV hinting at Hyperledger open to Ripple use cases.  Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) running a Ripple Blockchain Trial.  Press Releases about 42% savings to banks using Ripple.   And vague references to Interledger, which is sort of analogous to Hyperledger or Lightening network in a way..... talk, no real world scenarios yet though.  And all of this very hypy-vague.   Just little tidbit trickles of "News", "non-News" actually, that basically says, "Hey, we're alive."

GENERAL THOUGHTS:  I think Ripple/XRP IS still alive, and due to the nature of its business model, is in "secret development" mode.  I mean, you won't see news, until you see news, but whe that news does come - it may be a hard break.  My opinion is that will most likely be up (obviously - I DO own it), but I guess it could be down, or it might even be just a really really slow up if the news is not dramatic enough that other coins (Bitcoin/Ethereum etc) aren't also releasing big news, and thereby suck up all the investment money that might go into Ripple/XRP - thereby blunting the reaction.  However, it could go the other way,a nd we could get good news out of Ripple / bad out of Ethereum/Bitcoin, and the pressure could be exacerbated up.   Also- the whole "premined" aspect doesn't bother me that much.  With all my crypto investments I am looking primarily at actual eventual use case scenarios to determine value.  The 2nd tier money coins (Lite, Dash, Monero etc) are of no interest, and even the Utility coins (Emercoin, Maidsafe, etc) seem a bit too spiky/dodgy and subject to market manipulation/risk to me.

Ripple is obviously a top tier player, but a little lacking in discussion at present.  Thought I'd fire up a topic.

Peace,
- david

82  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: TRX's Valuation on: January 05, 2018, 06:41:54 PM
I wanted to figure out what is the correct evaluation of the market for TRX or any crypto for that matter. TRX is currently valued ~10B$ which seems a lot but given the fact we seem to be just starting with this Cryptomania would like to see what  you think.

Do we really bother about valuations or just get in at less price and get the hell out at a higher price?

Thanks

very Hyped token... my advice stay away ..

Please stay secure out there. The spectre vulns are NOT going to be fun, especially if you have keys on your computer.

Read this thread on Twitter, in the discussion there are many links of utility.

Please post something on this thread in orderto keep it alive in the timeline and help the Ethereum/tokens users and community on Bitcointalk:

84  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: You should NOT be buying altcoins now! on: January 05, 2018, 06:32:58 PM
I'm about to give you some hardcore advice, for FREE! Waoooo! (I promise, I won't shill a coin or promote anything, aren't those posts annoying?)
Take it seriously:

I see a lot of posts lately about what is the next big altcoin or what altcoin should I invest in? etc. etc.
About two months ago, the altcoin board was flooded with "what ICO should I invest in?" and now it's flooded with altcoin inquiries.
This matches the movement of the market as tons of money is being pumped into alts, particularly lower priced ones or coins that have been artificially pumped by youtubers, pump and dump groups, or Mr. Mcafee.

I understand the desire to find "the next big thing".  I understand the feeling that you have "missed the chance" on bitcoin or other alts.  I went through these myself.
But if you join the herd, you will either lose money or gain very little return on your investments.
Here is the advice:

When others sell, you buy.  When others buy, you sell.

Those who made tons of money the last 2 weeks are those who bought alts 2 months ago when btc was pumping like crazy because of the forks.
While everyone was scrambling to get more btc so they could get a shitcoin (btc gold) then segwit (which got canceled but looks like might go through anyways?) the price of almost all where at bargain prices.  Now, btc has been stable around 14 to 16k, while other alts have pumped like crazy.  It is the absolute worst time to buy alts, especially the overinflated ones like ripple, cardano, and tron.  Now is the time to buy btc.

Thinking that btc has reached is peak don't realize that other bubble economies have reached trillion dollar marketcaps, crypto still has more bull runs ahead of it and btc leads the way.

So why am I taking the time to post this? Because a good friend of mine put 10k usd into ripple this morning . . .
yeah, please don't do that, what a horrible price to buy xrp at.

thanks man

So, the most awaiting is over now. ETH Touched the golden 1k USD Mark. And, The pumping growth is incredible now. So, what do you think ETH in February? Can ETH Cross 2k$ in February?

everything is possible in this industry

87  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Token economics on: January 05, 2018, 06:27:48 PM
Most of the tokens have no real concept and are issued just for profit of the issuer or as a fundraiser for the startup. The value of tokens are entirely upto how the initial investors would be able to fool the new investors.

This is huge challenge as the smart people are still not involved to build the right economy of token
88  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the worst ICO of 2017? on: January 05, 2018, 06:26:40 PM
The worst IСO of this year is Tezos. The project was very promising, everyone expected a profit of at least 10 times. As a result, the project team quarreled and we apparently lost all our money

The ICO that was in every website as the worst for 2017 ...
89  Economy / Economics / Re: Obvious insider trading by Intel CEO on: January 04, 2018, 06:22:00 PM
After these Intel exploits have been released (they have been there since 1995 apparently... a total fuck up, and the patch will make computers slower it seems... a nightmare for Intel) its CEO sold all of his shares except the minimum amount one must hold to be the CEO (250.000 shares)

http://www.businessinsider.com/intel-ceo-krzanich-sold-shares-after-company-was-informed-of-chip-flaw-2018-1

This is almost as obvious as Roger Ver's insider trading adventures. I wonder if he will end up in jail.

not surprising
90  Economy / Economics / Re: Should I stop Buying BTC? on: January 04, 2018, 06:16:44 PM

Bitjob and wicoin are the worst ico I have seen in this year where no progress from team even they used simple concept failed to show any progress they least concerned about investors.

somehow I can agree on that ...

94  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Would you recommend this method to earn? on: December 28, 2017, 01:55:45 PM
I presently use an exchange service, that has option to hold in Fiat money as well, such as USD

would this method work.

1. put some money into a crypto. e.g. ETHEREAL

2. wait for it to all go up, the rates to go up
3. withdraw all or just the gained earnings and put into Fiat account as holding
4. wait for Ethereum etc to go down again, to fall
5. reinvest and put in from Fiat account again,
6. wait for Cryptos to go back to green again.
7 repeat cycle

would you consider this as a decent way to make earnings in crypto?

might work, but you can also split and not cash out everything, better move the money to USDT so you will have fast access to buy back when price drops as in some cases the drop is fast that you wont even be able to transfer funds from bank to exchange

ETN,thousands of people who bought the pre-ico sales token got totally rekt after the ETN wallet problem started they hold the tokens for months while the price keeps decreasing day by day many investors lose their money.

A lot more to come, check Wax token ... huge dump after ICO
97  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Token economics on: December 22, 2017, 02:06:03 PM
For me i prefer projects with low supply abd profit sharing, other than that i like new technology projects like aion, cardano and universa etc.

Different strategies bring different results
98  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the worst ICO of 2017? on: December 22, 2017, 10:46:17 AM
I invested 10 ether in Opus ICO and after the completion of their in which they collected 5 Million dollar in ETH(when eth was 300USD) the CEO left all social channels immediately. For 6 months there was not word on the development of the project and now after 6 months they have started development. My 10 ETH are almost worth 2 ETh and there is absolutely no trading going on at exchanges.

Holy shit !!!! you should report that to the SEC !
99  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Token economics on: December 21, 2017, 12:53:16 PM
I think the arrangements and management that can make the economy takeen better, and that should be owned by the businessman is professionalism. because that will bring his business into success.

The problem not many people know this field and some just throw out some bad token economy while retail investors dont even know about it
100  Economy / Economics / Re: Beside Cryptocurrenices where would you invest? on: December 20, 2017, 04:18:09 PM
I'm a lazy potato which is why I just invested on a house I bought within a village surrounded by industrial companies. As of now no one live there but an old friend whom recently go married will and they will rent my house. The fee are the ones I will also pay for the mortgage. But I still take trading crypto to be my kind of business career.

LOL lazy Potato, check potatotoken.io then
