81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PI] piCoin - The Math Cryptocurrency - Just Launched, Now on 3 Exchanges on: March 17, 2014, 02:42:32 AM
You forgot to answer main question. What would I gain from a fork fo the software? An update wouldn't effect mining, feel free to confute me about this.
You forgot to confute my math too.

P.s. "KGW did it's job. Do the math." I did it, maybe it's wrong but I did it, you also quoted it. I can't see your calculations though. I hope they're more accurate than your 100 Ghs network extimate cause it means 100 active pools at 1ghs each  Wink

Even developer admitted few threads ago difficulty is maybe broken, only you think it's ok, and yet you didn't confute my absolutely simple math. (my count started at public launch (block 751), it excludes premine, now more hours passed, and larger time amount helped them to confirm if it's broken, (hint: we should find 275 blocks every 24 hours according to the specs, we found 335 since public launch (10 in first 2 minutes) instead of theoretical 700+

Feel free to exclude first 8 hours you spoke about, sadly nothing changes. And by the way last block (http://cryptexplorer.com/chain/PiCoin?count=500&hi=1087 1086th) took 2 hours 39 minutes and 14 seconds (blocktarget=314seconds), probably a new record!
But that's normal, true? I'm only a "pool owner pissed off because I don't understand how KGW works" what may I know..

What would you gain from a fork?

Hmm... let's look at this.

Forking a coin could change a number of  variables... such as difficulty, profitability, value on the markets... etc.

Seeing as some dumbshits decided to pump and dump their pi-coin for 0.0000400, which would have been a fair price considering the difficulty... forking at that point alone would be a good idea... but only given a few weeks' notice, unlike a certain someone else who decided to run off his own fork and fuck people over, regardless of his warning, he never paid back the unconfirmed pi that people mined before he ran his fork.

Honestly... with the current block times... I think it's actually quite a good idea to leave them AS IS. Here's my reasoning behind that.
It prevents pump-n-dump miners looking for a quick profit. Those who come in and start on a pool at the beginning of a new block, take over in hashing power, and take the majority of the block reward, cutting out the other miners who had been there previously. Reasoning is, a pump-n-dump miner isn't going to sit around and wait that long for a block to mature.

Now, I'm usually impatient myself... but I see much potential in this coin as it is right now. However, if the DEV feels he wants to fork, then he shall fork. I'm not going to argue.

The value to you as a pool owner, however, would be greater return. More miners = more fees = more pi = more profit.

Being a pool owner these days is nothing more than creating a forum for miners to gather, and charge them to hash on your network, and make a profit doing so.

Sure, there are those pool owners out there who are simply willing to run a pool at zero profit... but even I wouldn't do that unless it was a private pool.

The profit change you would see... is a faster return on the block rewards, therefore a faster return on the fees you collect, to toss the coins into a market, sell them, and pay for server costs, and make a profit. But that's just my view of it.

I'm sure you probably have much better intentions... and if I jumped the gun with throwing a baseless accusation at you, then I do apologize, however, the fact still remains... it is up to the DEV as to whether there should be a fork or not.

I think there should be a vote as to whether or not there should be a fork, and I think that vote should be done on the picoin forum, not here where there are a bunch of trolls jumping in and out bashing the coin like a bunch of assholes on ritalin and whiskey.

I'm asking dev to fix the problem since 13 hours ago, time someone pointed out the problem.
Forking the coin, implementing kgw, cause no interruption on mining side, all we need to do is download and run an updated wallet version so exactly what are you insinuating?
Would I gain miners from it? Would I gain fees from it?

I lost 80% of my miners since I keep telling there is a problem on difficulty retarget but I keep doing it cause I want the coin to succed.
Seriously I do not understand your accusations, but it's probably my fault, please explain me as if I'm a kid.

My second question not as much important as first one of course, and "not for trolling Wink" :
Why you keep saying there is no difficulty adjustement issue? I would be glad if you want to confute my calculations. Maybe I did my math wrong.
Here it is again:
18 hours are gone: we should find over 11 blocks in an hour, 206 in 18 hours. We found 99 in 18 hours (10 in first 8 minutes from the launch, 89 in remaining 17 hours and 3/4)
X-Pools owner is less optimistic than me, he said 23 minutes for a block. He probably didn't exagerate too much because mine is an average which includes first hour and blocks found by solominers in first seconds/minutes.
Dev feel free to confute me you too, of course.

P.s. Miners do not complain much...  if they see a dev doesn't care about his coin issue, they simply leave not to waste electricity bill. I myself am not mining this coin at this current screwed difficulty though I won't close the pool till a single loyal person keep mining with us.

First... I stand by my difficulty readjustment claim.

The reason the difficulty spiked so damn high on launch, is because of how tremendously STRONG the network got during those few blocks it happened on.

What you fail to realize, is that KGW, or any variation of it... is meant to DRIVE DIFFICULTY UP when it seems like the network is being FLOODED with hashing power... guess what... it showed just how well it works on launch night. The network went from a few MH/s to over 100GH/s in under an hour... what did you expect would happen?

KGW is designed to keep multipools from hogging all the profit, designed to keep pool-hoppers from making any quick profit... and in all reality... pissing off pool owners who don't seem to understand how it works... is just priceless. Wink

"Miners do not complain much" (lies) Grin

It's plain and simple though... as far as my accusation goes...

You are a hosting company owner... and it costs you money to run a machine... so you don't turn on a machine unless you can make a profit... it's business right?

Well... you planned on pi-coin being a larger success than it was, and didn't anticipate problems at launch... and guess what... difficulty skyrocketed and it took a minute for the network to catch up... leaving everyone out on profit for the first ~8 hours... including you.

Seeing that you're an IT guy, and probably well-versed in coding... you could easily make your own coin, if you have the skill... yet you bitch at the DEV to make a fork... before the coin is even 24hrs old... and keep going... and the coin isn't even a week old.

When is the last time a coin has forked in the first week? I haven't seen it... if it happened, I missed it... but it shouldn't NEED to happen.

KGW did it's job. Do the math.

And before you say something about the blocks before block 779... block 777 had 158.81557773 diff... block 778 had 639.33454098 diff, and 779 had    2573.73161268 diff... everything before those blocks were the first few minutes of launch and before that was pre-mine. Your argument is invalid.

There is no such thing as DDOS protection.

Sometimes I do think the pool ops care more about a coin then the devs.

Dev has 230 MILLION coins, think he gives a shit really? He'll pump&dump it in no time. His giveaways are a big smokescreen, as always with gigantic premines.

+1

Also, too many coins (Billions). 1 coin equals (at most) 0.00000001 BTC per coin now. And that is at the very most. The Dev will have a rebuttal like "but there trading at .00000200". Those exchanges look real shady...

You guys are both RETARDED.

DEV used those pre-mined coins in giveaways...

Also, the number you came up with... 230,000,000... you're full of shit.
87  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PI] piCoin - The Math Cryptocurrency - Just Launched at 3:14 UTC on: March 14, 2014, 11:27:19 PM
So I was about to leave my computer mining piCoin but now the pool I was using is down due to a ddos attack?  Another pool I was on tried running an alternate block chain... Nope, not trying another pool for this coin right now, how do I know a competitor didn't knock hashing.at out?? and that 314 price for cashing out is too high, anyway I've got 1600 piCoins in my wallet, I don't know how many more unconfirmed I've got while the server is down.. I'm back to mining Lottocoin and I'll see how this is all going after I get some sleep..  Shocked

also @renegadepcsolutions yeah I'm here mining at under 400 kH but I'd rather dump money into coins on cryptsy then buy more computer parts, get over yourself  Roll Eyes

read the 30 pages of yelling SCAM AND COINSTEALERS SUMPOOL!!!!

This is becoming overly annoying. I'm trying to get an idea on the community and if there is something going on or not with this coin but the thread is just unreadable.
And I almost lost of night when this launched.

READ THIS. IT SUMS IT UP

I got 40k in 13 hours mining @ 1.5 mh/s, is that right? Seems exceptionally low to me.

Block target time = 314 seconds.   (imagine its 360seconds, 10 blocks an hour, 240 blocks in 24hours)

Do your math, we're taking ages to solve a block and difficulty retargets every block according to number of shares used to solve the block before. It's broken.

Good news, it's very easy to fix as soon as Dev admit we're correct about it.

pfft, math. I haven't got time for that, I am busy holding this couch down.

Thanks to all that answered.

18 hours are gone: we should find over 11 blocks in an hour, 206 in 18 hours. We found 99 in 18 hours (10 in first 8 minutes from the launch, 89 in remaining 17 hours and 3/4)

And yes, if you're wondering situation is going slightly worst lately, some rig rentals are over, and network dropped a lot from launch time.

Positive side of the story, no one can complain about instamine  Grin

Is there an update about the coin's dysfunctional difficulty algorithm?

Really hoping to see blocks produced at the expected rate. Waiting until KGW kicks in will kill this coin before it has a chance to fly.

+1

DEV PLEASE PREPARE THE FORK

Tell me this userpackman1....

Why is it that YOU are the ONLY pool owner asking for a fork?

Better yet... why do I only see a POOL OWNER asking for a fork, and not a ton of miners?

I'll tell you why... because the launch did not go the way you wanted it to... and you were left ass-out because your pool didn't get as many miners as you thought you would... and you also didn't find as many blocks as you wanted... therefore you didn't make enough profit.

Code:
Top 25 Blockfinder
Rank Username Blocks Coins Generated
1 anonymous 1 314,159
2 klyuev15 1 314,159
3 sglaze 1 314,159
4 pc555 1 314,159
5 771696 1 314,159

He is also a hosting company owner...

I'm just saying man... you're the ONLY one asking for a fork.

I'm not trying to troll, I'm raising suspicion where it is due.... it's kinda funny that nobody else is screaming FORK FORK FORK as loud as you.

17 miners, barely 9MH/s... I could see why you want a fork.

Since released I've recieved 70k coins from Bondni and another 16 from X-pool (which is under DDOS attack)

Bondni seems stable but there's only 10 or so hashers to waiting for a release takes for ever.

So.. I've got about 86 coins on 2.3mh/s from release. Does this sound right, or really off the mark ------ do I need to find a new, more popular pool?

You need to find another pool until the pool owner of Bondni gets off his ass and fixes his payout bug.

You should be making over 150,000 pi per day @ 2.3MH/s... not a measly 82.

Sorry, where is source code?
