i dont or rarely use atx psu's anymore

my recent build

nice set up

so how do u power those cards i dont see cables? or am i just blind?

whats your PSU/Power set up?
82  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Burned PCIe to PSU connector on: March 09, 2017, 10:10:40 PM
mining scrypt in 2013 and melted a HD7990 with a PCIE power connection, card still works but yeah u can get arc's happening

was all under warranty so was ok

hope u get it working better
83  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v12.2 (Windows/Linux) on: March 06, 2017, 07:43:51 AM
anyone using HD7990's to mine with newer versions?

getting problems with my MSI cards, one chip does not hash on both cards that i have and other chip gets around 100h/s Sad

this is on win10 and win7, anyone else had similar problems? tried multiple drivers, the cards have NOT been modded

cheers gang

84  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU & CPU BENCHMARKS FOR ZCASH MINING! on: December 31, 2016, 09:02:37 AM
Hi, I've been around forum I haven't found a source where to find a list of zcash benchmarks. So in the same way I did for monero around 3 months ago (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1612690). I decided to create a website for GPU & CPU benchmarks for zcash mining.

Website: http://zcashbenchmarks.byethost16.com/

How to submit benchmarks?

To submit benchmarks, post your benchmark using these forms according your hardware:

CPU
CPU's MODEL NAME:
HASHRATE:
MINER SOFTWARE:
PARAMETERES:
OS:
TDP(OPTIONAL):
EXTRA CONFIG(OPTIONAL): SYSTEM'S RAM, temperature, overclocking, etc.

GPU
GPU's MODEL NAME:
VRAM:
CORE/MEMORY CLOCK:
HASHRATE:
MINER SOFTWARE:
OS:
TDP(OPTIONAL):

After posting benchmark on this topic,  I'll manually add it to website.

As usual suggestions & ideas are welcome  Cool In the meantime, I'll be finishing website.

UPDATE (December, 31. 2016)

Added another field for CPU form. Website updated.
12 Benchmarks (10 GPU + 2 CPU).
Website running but still under development.

would u like a free membership site/platform to use for this so people can add thier own?

why one fury card
stop hashing
and return incorrect data?
i try everything i can not fix it Huh Huh Huh Huh Huh

hope its in warranty dude

RMA it if so
86  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v9.2 (Windows/Linux) on: December 23, 2016, 08:45:31 PM
With 9.2 - 370 h/s. Thats cool.
Only one question remains - how? All is stock.

Most of shares will be rejected: GPU does not work properly. It must be drivers if you use stock clocks, try different drivers. In next update I will improve compatibility.

Thanks Claymore for everything and wishing u a great Xmas (if u celebrate it!)

lol next post after this quote was asking for ETA of next update..... wait till next year and give the programmer a break !!!!
87  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: HD 7990 zcash - 2 x 200 = 400 Sol (tempeture problem) on: December 20, 2016, 03:48:18 AM
as they will be out of warranty i would re-apply good quality thermal paste to the chips - at least min 10degrees cooler u will see

have they been used before for other intensive mining? what brand are they?

my MSI's 7990's get around 410-420 run around 70-80 at no more than 60% fan
88  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What temperature to keep the idle cards ? on: December 15, 2016, 03:32:02 AM
my storage experiences even in orig boxes, wrapped in anti statics was a little moisture effected the cooling fins with a little white residue

i would advise keep something that soaks up the mositure in each box, kinda like what they have in shoe boxes

my 2 cent from exp

oh yes and if out of warranty, i replace the thermal paste on the GPU chips with good quality paste and not some fancy mayo lol
89  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ZEC][ETH][XMR][EXP][GRS]Reliable DwarfPool- Anonymous, failover worldwide on: December 13, 2016, 07:39:18 AM
whats up with the ZEC pool on dwarfpool?

they seemed to be gathering steam with more miners but this could hurt them

was getting 3000+m/s, so switched back to flypool for a bit

90  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v9.1 on: December 13, 2016, 07:03:24 AM

V9.1 with my HD7990's i get 201H/S per chip (400-405 in total, MSI brand), really good increase!

That's it? I have a MSI 7950 heavy overclocked doing stable 220-225

Can't push the 7990s as hard due to twice the heat generation (almost) in the same space.

yes im on stock bios and settings too, these babies are my winter handwarmers!

used to overclock them years back on other algos and nearly paid the price of melted power PCI-E cables! (not riser)
91  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v9.1 on: December 13, 2016, 02:37:59 AM
i have a very old HD7790 cards
this piece of sheet Wink gives
Code:
ZEC: 12/13/16-02:29:46 - New job from zec-ru1.dwarfpool.com:3333
target: 0x001ffffc (diff: 2048H)
ZEC - Total Speed: 171.054 H/s, Total Shares: 10100, Rejected: 70, Time: 48:54
ZEC: GPU0 85.628 H/s, GPU1 85.425 H/s

works perfectly on miner v9.1, win7x64, for 2 days w/o any troubles....

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radeon_HD_7000_Series
1000mhz cpu, 1500 mhz memory and only 896 cpu units.
one card takes 40w and another one 60w. so i guess 200-250w per system with 2 this cards.
and you can compare power to rx480 with 1266 mhz cpu, 2250mhz memory and 2304 cpu units.

in all benchmarks (WPA (56/200mh/s), FAH (50/250 PPD) etc) each rx480 gives about 3.5-5pcs of hd7790.
if ETH i can't get the hashrate because my cards is 1 gb, but on the net there are digits like 5-6mh/sec, so its 31/6=5.1 times...
and only in ZEC each rx480 gives 200/85=2.3 pcs of hd7790.
so, this digit looks very sad, like theoretical 2304/896=2.57 pcs....
i don't know why hd7790 works so good to compare to rx480, may be a very good core code for hd7790, or may be a very bad code for rx480, or may be i'm totally wrong in all Smiley

Have to try my 6970. 7770 is doing 70 with v9

V9.1 with my HD7990's i get 201H/S per chip (400-405 in total, MSI brand), really good increase!
92  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v9.1 on: December 13, 2016, 02:35:45 AM
can any one tell me what does this red text means?

i think it means if the miner has not been active for a full hour or more and is an estimate

i may be wrong tho....
93  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v9.1 on: December 12, 2016, 10:57:49 PM
I got this on dwarfpool much today Sad ZEC:: No new jobs were received for 10 mins - something wrong with the pool, disconnect. What's wrong to many users or what? Think i gonna change again Sad

just make sure u got backup pools and your good to go mining even if the pool goes down for a minute or an hour or more!
94  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What is the best GPU card available versus hashing capacity for Farm Setups ? on: December 12, 2016, 07:06:47 AM
if u can find somewhere that you can have free leccy by contract (usually some greedy landlord!)

GO 4 it!
95  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I don't have to pay for electric on: December 12, 2016, 06:39:52 AM
I don't have to pay for electric, so I was thinking about getting into mining. I have about 2k USD to spend on equipment. But I could make it 3-4k but definitely not anymore than that. I would like the most compact miner too if possible. So I was thinking mining alt coins with graphics cards would be the best option. And I have 100% no idea what I am doing

was in the same boat 4-5 years ago

was not a lot of info about then and was  hard on the cards, have learned so much more than mining tho! it can be time consuming and as long as your mining room can stay cool and u want to give it a go i say go for it

who knows what other coins will become available for GPU mining and how profitable it will be

i had mine off due to no free leccy for a couple of years but now free leccy again means i can earn some new coins and from a few grand of equipment, happy to say making over $20 a day from a load of HD7990's, 290x and 280x's

if anything goes wrong hardware wise be sure to get a supplier with good RMA record as i have had PSUs and GPUs replaced more than a few times! (sometimes my user error too!)

have fun and wish u much success
96  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v9.1 on: December 12, 2016, 06:04:54 AM
when using dwarfpool for ZEC mining

how important is that port number for the difficulty/shares?

when i change it to say like 3334 instead of 3333 i seem to get errors from the client

i have 4 rigs one around 250, 480, 900 & 1.1k/hs

want to get the best out of them so should i do my best to set the right port number for the size of the rig?

Dwarfpool's vardiff (port 3333) works well. It adjusts the difficulty so that each worker is submitting approximately 200 shares per hour +/-10%.

Unless you have a more specific reason to prefer static difficulty, I'd suggest sticking with 3333 and forgetting about it.

nice, thanks for explaining Smiley

ohhh.... good to be back mining again after a long pause! roll of a super cold winter lol

The -resyn went on smoothly until it is stuck at 'Downloading headers.. 6 days behind'.  It has been 6 hours since it stuck there.  The debug log says:
Upload your debug.log file to mega or something so we can take a look at it.

Thanks for the offer to help.  I succeeded in restoring my wallet by deleting everything (but first backup the wallet) and then replace the newly generated wallet with my backup wallet. The blocks are newly downloaded.

will give this a go too
