81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: SRBMiner Cryptonight AMD GPU Miner V1.7.4 - native algo switching on: December 30, 2018, 08:57:28 PM

Same problem reported here since v1.7.1 or more the vega rig became unstable.  My rx580 rig have no problems with v1.7.4.
Vega 64 rig with v 1.7.4 get ramdom restarts, and i increase the mv in all gpus, lower intensity , and same problem!!

Driver version, algo, config file?

Does the miner restart, and work ok after that, or system freezes?
Can you describe ? Maybe i can find out what is happening

It was all ok on 1.7.0 ?

Also how often is this happening?
Is there any specific case you maybe noticed?

For me I get some card hashing speed at 0h/s ( sometimes all together ), then miners restart by itself but failed to start , the system freeze ( restart needed) . I get that error more often after 1.7.0.
I post the log just above.
Windows 10 , Xmr ( V8) , 1.6.1.
PS : I tried to increase mV and lower clock speed and mem speed a lot but I still get this error since srb 1.7.1 on all rigs.
( No computing error before the crash , 1/24h for some)

Same problem here. exactly. Sometimes some card have 0 hash/s or all together. And now one have a strange pump in hashes. Tried to lower clocks an d increase all mv and intensity and same problem.

[2018-12-30 14:35:34] Starting reboot script reboot-windows.bat...

Sometimes when restart its ok, but when freezes i have to locally restart the rig..

In v 1.7.0 its ok.

Dok see what i highlight in bold in the log. Its strange.
Gpu 8 jump to 1949 h/S, almost impossible in my vega 64 mining bittube.

Hi,

For me, yes all same version, algo and config only change version. Occured when i migrate from v1.7.0 to v1.7.2, v1.7.3 and v1.7.4.
For me occurs 4-6 hours. System freezes.

I notice that in v1.7.0 the auto intensity is set to 60 in my vega 64 setup, in version 1.7.4 the auto set to 56.
If i put 56 or 60 in v1.7.0 all ok, no crashes for days.. Smiley

Regards

For now I'm using your miners since month , but after 1.7.0 I cannot get my miners stable . All are running on 1.7.0 and crashing around once a week. I'm far from the best hashrate average 1920 h/s for all the rigs. I try to get the best hashrate but I do not know best setting for reference cards.
I post in the other thread too to get more chance to get help:-) latest version or srb and crashing and same for TRM..

This is the log at the crash ( same for all miners)

I Was monitoring and gpu is always in 50-55 C. What could have happened?

Can you put in your to-do-list the temp in log ?

Thanks

You left out an important part from the log where the gpu is turned back on, because if it really reached 85c then it would need some time to cool down to 70c to turn back on, but if it was a false temperature reading for a moment then it would turn it back on in a few seconds.

The temp in log will be in the next version.

Hi Dok,

After that the system freeze, and i have no log after that,
with log will be more easy to see the problem. Smiley

Thanks

Thanks for new version.

When could we see support for a more recent amd drivers?

Thanks

What do you mean?
It works with the latest drivers also

hmm ok nice..

As i seen recommend 18.6.1. did not want to risk.

1 - Can i install it and mine normally without change anything in my config_?

2 - Other question dok, i notice that auto intensity from version 1.7.0 was [56] and now is [60] ,for vega 64, why such increase? is safe to maintain that?

3 - In my rigs i use winver v1709 and disable all updates. I want to use in my desktop pc one vega 64, its ok to install last winver and amd drivers with no lose in performance? Smiley in rigs im not updating anything, only for new drives if you say is safe Smiley Cool

4 - Its possible to put in log the gpu temps?

Many thanks for help    Cool

1. Can you change the miner version without config change? Hard to tell, depends which version are you using, if it is 170+ you can swap, config is same.
2. auto intensity is there just as a start point, you should set intensity by hand, at least if you want max performance
3. I think the recommended drivers work best, miner will work with the latest drivers but i think performance will be lower than on recommended.
4. possible, i will add it on the wishlist

Thanks for anwser doc Smiley

1- what i was asking is if change from recomended drivers for new one require anychange in the config miner file Smiley  ?
2- thanks
3- ok, i will stick to that
4- i think is a must have Smiley

V1.7.3
- Bringing back support for GCN1 cards [pitcairn, tahiti ...]
- Heavy_mode 2 is now an improved 3 with a little less hash and less errors than 3
- Small OCL optimisations for Vegas
- Added parameter 'off_temperature' to gpu_conf, to protect GPU from overheating
- Added parameter 'old_mode' to gpu_conf, which creates the kernel with the old method
- Added new algo 'Hycon'
- Added new algo 'Upx'
- Added new algo 'Stellitev8'
- Renamed algo 'freehaven' to 'swap'

+ Even if unintentionally, but SRB became slower and slower on old GCN1 cards because optimisations that were good for newer gpu's were a kill for those oldes.
I managed to borrow a tahiti card (280x) for a few days, and create a new kernel that is now working OK with these oldies. Speeds should be acceptable now Smiley

+ As you know there are 3 heavy modes available. This is how it goes now :
1. Slowest but shouldn't produce any compute errors
2. Faster than 1, it is a re-worked 3, a little bit slower than 3, but with less errors
3. The fastest but it can produce the most compute errors

I think 2 could be the winner here because my tests of 12hr show :
1. 0 errors
2. 1 error
3. 4 errors

Of course the default one is still 1, because it is the most stable mode.

+ Added a gpu_conf only parameter 'off_temperature'. I think this will be very useful. What it does is it turns off that one particular overheated GPU until it cools down by 15c, then it's turned back on.
Default is 85c, so that means if a GPU reaches 85c, miner turns it off automatically (while the other GPU's are still working), and it waits until it cools down by 15c, in this case that is 70c.
When temperature is < 70c the GPU is automatically turned back on and it continues to work.
The '15c' difference can't be changed.

+ Added a gpu_conf only parameter 'old_mode'. With the changes i made in 1.7.2, that allow the creation of kernels on drivers newer than 18.6.1, algos that use a scratchpad <=1MB (litev7, mox, dark, upx) suffer from a hashrate drop on Vegas (maybe others too, i didn't test). So if you set this parameter to true, it will create kernel the old way, and the speed on these algos should be back.
Don't forget, if you use old_mode : true, and compile the kernel on a driver newer than 18.6.1, you probably won't be finding any shares!

+ Added 3 new algos :

- upx [ https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5058404.0 ]
- hycon [ https://hycon.io ]
- stellitev8 [ https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2813261.0 ]

Stellitev8 will be active when stellite forks.

Hi again doktor,

I use srbminer from months with no problem in my 9 vega 64 rig.

I use v1.6x - v1.7.0 weeks with no restart or hang.

But version 1.7.2, after 8 hours or so hangs.

In log i got this:

https://justpaste.it/4rctv

Any ideia what could be?

Looks like this gpu crashed so badly that even after miner restart it won't start , and it can't be initialised on miner startup.
Set a watchdog script to restart whole machine on crash, then on windows start set miner to start auto.

Hi doktor

Thanks for help,

I use the reboot_script_gpu_watchdog pointing to your reboot-windows batch file,  its ok like this ?

"reboot_script_gpu_watchdog"  : "reboot-windows.bat",

What im reporting is only crashes that wasn t before in vegas rigs .

All my 3 rigs crashed badly with 1.7.2 version. Even my standalone vega 64 and 56 on my two desktop pc had one appcarsh ->  https://justpaste.it/7jrik

In my rx580 rig all ok with a crazy performance boost  Cool

Thanks

Hi doktor,

Notice that my system of 10 gpu is consuming more 5% power. Why consume differ  from  version 1.70 to 1.72 with same configs? Smiley  Changes in coding? Cool

I have more 10% hashing too Smiley

Thanks
