BTC is Myspace..XC is Facebook, Better get used to it, Or get a day job.

if XC fails, what are you going to do with your life if you can't shill for it 24/7?
82  Other / Off-topic / Re: I just donated to Wikipedia. Using Bitcoin. on: August 11, 2014, 02:05:25 AM
Is it so hard for them to put a single bitcoin address to the bottom of their homapage  Huh

It would be a big win-win for both wikipedia and bitcoin.

This is an accounting issue. They can't speculate themselves, because of the structure of the wikimedia foundation. So they need to sell for USD immediately. Same with stocks.

I didn't say that i have a problem with them selling bitcoins for USD. I would just like the bitcoin option to be more visible.

Sure, that would be awesome, but it is not possible,

Another issue someone from wikipedia gave was that each donation is taxdeductible and they need to be able to point each donation to a certain person. Also not more than X % can be donated anonymously before becoming an issue.

https://bter.com/voting

you can vote for NODE on bter, NOW!

You don't get listed on bter through voting.....

Let the devs contact BTER and pay them off, it is not expensive...

you can vote on BTER but you need to be a fiat trader in order to gain points to get with.

But that doesn't matter, you can't catch the top coins

If everybody doesn't give a fuck about it, of course it doesn't matter. There are ~40 of 50 votes are mine. Looks like I'm the only person who is interested in it. If 100 people voted for Node with me we'd have 4000 votes within a couple of days.

Not everyone has so many votes per hour, if you cashout for example they  take your BTR, so you need to spend them on votes.

Also you will need >25000 to get added, that could take a month...
84  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Anonymity so important to you? on: August 11, 2014, 02:02:32 AM
Anonymity is important if you want to kidnap or assassinate someone and get paid without consequence.

I never thought about that, cryptocurrency is really awesome for ransom!

I discover a new way to use BTC each day. Amazing.
So far, BTC is not anonymous. You'll need to use something else.

Still, if you provide a single empty deposit address, you are in complete possesion of the ransom money and they have no way of finding out who you are through that wallet. Your next steps need to be very careful, but I bet if you play it right, you can mix/flip those BTC without ever getting caught.
85  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wikipedia Raises 237 BTC Through Donations In One Week on: August 11, 2014, 02:00:42 AM
^ wikileaks went on to accept bitcoin.. and bitcoin is still obviously going strong. so i'd say that despite his genius, satoshi was wrong in this instance. i think he was right to disappear though.

But I thought they didn't accept bitcoin until way later?
86  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wikipedia Raises 237 BTC Through Donations In One Week on: August 11, 2014, 02:00:14 AM
And they still have the bitcoin donation option burried somewhere in their site...

That doesn't matter much. So are all the other "alternative" options.

How much money did wikipedia make last week? From all the other alternative methods together  Tongue

140000*5/4 because the news sites reported about 18% of all donations were BTC in that week.
87  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alternative cryptocurrency is dead on: August 11, 2014, 01:59:25 AM
oh and what do you know - no new suckers .

volume on the buy side looks awfully thin.

welcome to the free market.

enjoy your stay, coffee will be served somewhere below $100. (if the fiat economy does not go into full implode)

Yeah lets all buy quark!

88  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you really believe that Bitcoin will hit 1,000,000 on: August 11, 2014, 01:56:40 AM
Lets assume that BTC doesn't gain in "value". Only rises because of inflation.

Today 580

Year XXXX = 1,000,000

Inflation = 4%

580*1,04^x = 1,000,000
1,04^x=1724
x= ~190 years

So in 190 years we will see a price of 1,000,000 USD even if BTC doesn't gain in purchasing power Wink

So BTC will hit $1,000,000 USD but none of us will be alive to see it happen.  Grin

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Medicine is so innovative and innovations coming in big heaps! Who knows, maybe in 30 years with stemcells you will be able to heal nearly every injury and every aspect of getting older. Scientists are predicting that the first human to reach 200 years old, is already born. Spooky!
If history is any guide this is not the case. Medicine has been able to increase the average lifespan of the population by not by this large of a percentage. Additionally as people get older they start to develop more advanced problems that cannot be fixed with medicine/medical technology.

The thing is, medicine innovation is increasing exponentially. So if you make a logarithmic growth and take history as an indicator, you will still come out with the numbers I proposed.

Not saying this will hold true, but I very well might.
89  Economy / Economics / Re: Would u pay in bitcoin? on: August 11, 2014, 01:55:03 AM
Even if that holds true, this is changing everyday. I don't know when you started getting into bitcoin, but basically years ago it  was 100 times harder to get btc.

The biggest improvement in my opinion has been localbitcoins. Gox was the orginial "easy" way to get BTC and for people into Bitcoin it was good compared to p2p paypal or cash in the mail. But hopefully things continue to get better as time goes on.

I don't think localbitcoins is particular easy to use.

Companies like coinbase and circle will be the real improvement.
90  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to earn 52000 BTC on: August 11, 2014, 01:52:34 AM
One does not simply earn that much money.

what if he sold a pizza for bitcoin in 2009?

he earned it Cheesy

Sell 10 pizzas.

HuhHuh

91  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stop using Kraken on: August 11, 2014, 01:48:28 AM
IIRC they are changing the feestructure and increase the fees. They would be dumb  to steal some few thousand euros.

93  Other / Off-topic / Re: What would you do if you received 20 bitcoins? on: August 11, 2014, 01:46:38 AM
Hold the majority of the coins.

Maybe buy some AM shares or play some dice on PD3

Solid strategy! Hodl
94  Economy / Speculation / Re: Am I the only one who wants bitcoin to tank? on: August 11, 2014, 01:45:27 AM
I want bitcoin to remain at its current value indefinitely. Not one cent should change; governments should back this up with a mandate.

Then Bitcoin would fail. Because the current market cap is way to small to handle big transactions...

96  Other / Off-topic / Re: karma on: August 11, 2014, 01:41:02 AM
I don't think it's real in RL but on reddit it's fucking real.

On reddit everything is "real".

I think karma is a nice way to maipulate yourself, but if it improves a person, why not?
97  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wikipedia Raises 237 BTC Through Donations In One Week on: August 11, 2014, 01:38:54 AM
@question authority: Wikimedia needs to sell those coins. Like they need to sell stock donated to them. Even if they'd love to hold them, they can't because of the structure of their foundation. Read it up..

I don't believe for one second that they bought Bitcoin for pennies and sold it later for a huge profit. If that were true why not just start accepting Bitcoin donations several years ago when they were first approached? Also, where did they exchange them? Do they have an address that can be checked? That's total BS. They finally know an easy way to get cash for them so they accept them now.
Wikileaks is still a very controversial enterprise and many payment processors does not want anything to do with them. Wikileaks would need to open an account on an exchange and open a bank account to receive the money to. Both the exchange and bank would become magnet for possible regulatory action/investigations that are unrelated to their dealings with wikileaks.

They also tried to start accepting BTC donations in the early days of BTC, but satoshi asked they not accept BTC donations because it would attract too much attention to BTC when BTC was too young.

Source?

finally found it.. it was on page 3. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1735.msg26999#msg26999

Basically, bring it on.  Let's encourage Wikileaks to use Bitcoins and I'm willing to face any risk or fallout from that act.
No, don't "bring it on".

The project needs to grow gradually so the software can be strengthened along the way.

I make this appeal to WikiLeaks not to try to use Bitcoin.  Bitcoin is a small beta community in its infancy.  You would not stand to get more than pocket change, and the heat you would bring would likely destroy us at this stage.

Nice find. He was right after all Wink
98  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: August 11, 2014, 01:37:47 AM
Just FYI, we escrowed an additional 5 BTC to dooglus, waiting for his post on forum and signed for verification. Will update our thread when he does Smiley Thats a total of 10 BTC now in escrow.

regards!
lets hope that this campaign lasts a long time unlike most other campaigns have.
I am really surprised less then 10 days and they have all spots full all 100 members enter in this new campaign good competitor for PD

We will have to wait till the first payment goes through, although they have 10 BTC in escrow. Smiley

They would be seriously retarded to not pay. They have >2000 BTC in investments on their site and after 2 weeks already over 3000 BTC volume. On average they will net 1 BTC per 1000 BTC wagered, so scamming on a signature campaign for <50 BTC would be ....
99  Economy / Services / Re: who can help my friend, whose coins are stolen by hacker,1 BTC bounty on: August 11, 2014, 01:36:31 AM
Sorry for your loss, but its gone, and there is a very good chance you wont see them again.

Like 99.99%. Cryptoworld is a bitch when it comes to scams.

They changed it and now if you trade anything on their site you get BTR. But that doesn't matter, you can't catch the top coins, you need to pursue the BTER team to add the coin. Money is a good way to go about it.
