81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why do people start up new cryptocurrencies? on: July 05, 2017, 01:14:25 AM
People created crypto currencies because they want to get rich with it, they want to have their own coin so they can control that coin and become famous and rich, they are inspired by the success of bitcoin so who knows they can have huge success, if they can make one success coin they can become very rich
There is two purpose of those who make their own coin and that is one. The other one is mainly for scamming, if they have taken a profit, they will leave that coin and will make another one and so on. That is how those shitcoin exist.

90 percent of new coins released don't really do anything useful, are a copy of an older coin, or is a blatant scam. But there are 10 percent of coins that have great ideas; we would have never gotten Ethereum, ZCASH or Tether, which are kind of vital at this point. I don't think that bitcoin would be as popular as it is today, if not for Ethereum. People trying to get in on bitcoin 2.0 brought into ETH; it turned out to be a decent investment.
82  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How/Where to Report Stolen Cryptocurrency? on: July 05, 2017, 12:30:27 AM
1.
exchanges need to stop having private keys as hot wallets.
2.
exchanges need to do better security in regards to withdrawal requests
3.
if the funds are on exchanges privkeys then exchanges need to take some accountability of funds
4.
can they show enough data to prove it was not an inside job done by poloniex employee's
5.
they should provide you with logs/data/information
--eg
how many login attempts were made on your account during the session the funds were lost
   was any 2FA requests made
what was the IP of user of the session
was the login attempt out of the ordinary EG real owner can be geolocated but thief was using proxies

if an exchange cannot provide this info then the exchange does not care about security, to even find ways to improve the system for general customers even if they may fail individual customers now and again.
smart businesses log everything and use scenarios of theft as a time to re-assess their own security, so having data available is not only handy for victims but for their business generally

If it is found that security was this LAX, then I feel that the exchange would at least be civilly liable for gross negligence. If they have poor record keeping, or refuse to comply with a request for evidence, either they suck so badly they probably shouldn't be doing this, or they are facilitating inside jobs.

I feel like they might be fractional deserving, or have a rogue employee. There have been a lot of Polo hacks all of a sudden, and it wasn't something I saw a lot before. Withdrawal issues as well, I had a friend that only got two of the three ETH he withdrew, according to him. Don't know how it resolved for him, I think it's still in progress Sad
83  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ADX]*NEW* AdEx Network - Decentralized Ad Exchange on: July 04, 2017, 11:42:17 PM
What is taking Bittrex so long to list this asset? They listed SNT within 24 hours of the ICO, and I know for a fact that the devs have contacted Bittrex at least twice. They may have even paid the spotlight fee; why do you think they are waiting to list the book?
It uses an ETH wallet, and Liqui.io has working wallets for ADX, so why doesn't Bittrex, after all this time?

I think they are buying it at liquio for under ICO, so they can stock the books with it when they open the market. They want the profits from the spike Wink
84  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: When will ico bubble burst? on: July 04, 2017, 08:57:59 PM
At now, I think the waves of ICOs just comeback and very stupid if want try scam in hot time ICOs as now. Maybe, in 2018 the bubble or some project not really from 2017 will died and replace by good project Smiley

Think about how much these crowd sales are centralizing the distribution of Ethereum and Bitcoin, especially Ethereum. People are pouring money into ETH token sales, and one goes on at least twice a week lately. The more ETH in the hands of single companies instead of individuals, means the ETH is tied up, or gets sold to convert to fiat for business costs. Less liquidity and selling pressure is usually a bad thing.
85  Economy / Economics / Re: Selling Bitcoin = Opportunity loss?! on: July 04, 2017, 08:02:19 PM
Inversely, there are benefits to holding fiat instead of crypto. You can't buy a car with crypto-currency, you would have to sell it first, deposit the cash, and use a check to purchase. Let's keep going, and say you use that car you purchased with bitcoin to go to a job. Even if you spent 5-10 bitcoin at the current price on the car, you could make back double that with a decent job in a year.

It's smart to go with whatever income stream has the most potential. It isn't always bitcoin.
86  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is working fine! No change needed! on: July 04, 2017, 07:07:40 PM
No, Bitcoin is not working fine. We need to figure out an adequate method to scale BTC so that there can be WAY more tps, therefore lowering fees which are currently killing any chance of going mainstream as fees are even higher than traditional fiat methods such as credit cards, etc. Once we figure that out, only then will it be smooth sailing.

Yes. Bitcoin IS working fine. Fees are much lower than traditional payment methods and there is no need to go mainstream (at least not more than it already is)

I don't know why some of you keep whining about the high fee. Seems you are not using Bitcoin these days. (or you doing it wrong)

If this is fine, then compared to Litecoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin, I'll take broke. It takes forever to confirm a transaction sometimes, even with a decent fee, and at this bitcoin price rate, the fee withdrawing from exchanges is worse than buying a money order with fiat.

It's better than driving to the bank, and its easier than going to the store to get a money order, but compared to other crypto-currencies, it isn't quite what it could be.

Let's hope for a faster network in the future.
87  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The "Satoshi Risk" on: July 04, 2017, 05:46:53 PM
Personally I doubt very much that satoshi would crash the market by cashing out. He is probably already a very rich man. A genius like satoshi would not have created such an amazing innovation and hand it over to mankind to set them free. Just so that he can pull the plug. This is his contribution to a better world. He more than likely is quite satisfied already with his accomplishments. He has also probably already taken his share of riches at some point. Some things are worth much much more than money. He will know exactly how much responsibility he has.

This. If those coins move, even to another wallet, the market will crash in anticipation if them going to an exchange and hitting an order book. So basically, I think that he can never touch those coins again without creating a panic. If that's obvious to me, I'm pretty sure it has occurred to him as the creator of bitcoin.

Moving those coins would be a killswitch for bitcoin. I don't think the creator would want to do that to his creation, especially if it started to take off as it is now.
88  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MOST COMMMON METHODS HACKERS AND SPAMMERS USE TO STEAL BITCOINS on: July 04, 2017, 05:30:02 PM
7.5BTC is more money than most Mexicans should have, much less one willing to scam.  Hopefully you're actually in Mexico and not the U.S.

This is funny and racist Smiley

7.5 BTC is like what, a little over 19 thousand bucks? That's more than I have LOL, hell, that's more than most of my friends have saved up. I live in the US, rent is a monster that will not die here.

I read something recently that said most US families said on a survey they would have a deal if a $600 unexpected expense came up. 19k is like that and a fat bag of chips. This would be a payday for anybody Smiley

Keep your own keys. And keep your machine free of malware, you have to stay on top of virus protection. It's a must here I see Smiley
89  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ADX]*NEW* AdEx Network - Decentralized Ad Exchange on: June 30, 2017, 10:58:59 PM
Hi,
i still haven't received my tokens. Is it normal?

Did your transaction into the contract confirm, and what wallet did you use to participate in the crowdsale?

you will most likely have to add a custom token to the wallet you are using, to see the ADX that are attached to the wallet. I used ImToken to purchase my ADX, I had to use myetherwallet to verify that the tokens actually made it to the wallet. They did Smiley

Thank you ADX team for a really smooth rollout. I attended the SNT crowdsale, this was not that Sad
90  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ADX]*NEW* AdEx Network - Decentralized Ad Exchange on: June 30, 2017, 10:29:15 PM
How long until it gets to Hitbtc and I can start dumping for $3 each?

It was on HitBTC as an IoU for a little while now. I can confirm that its currently trading on liqui.io. There has only been about 4 trades on the history so far, I cant give a valid representation of price.

Still not on Bittrex:( I wonder if we are killing the spike by having soft openings at various exchanges. Each price kind of stands alone, its .013 per ADX on HitBTC right now.  Shocked
91  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin reduces unemployment on: June 30, 2017, 09:47:16 PM
Bitcoin "could" help reduce unemployment, but not in its current state. For one, most people aren't even aware of bitcoin, even thought adoption has grown a lot its still not very popular. Everyone knows what PayPal is, maybe 1 out of 20 people have ever heard of bitcoin.

For that reason, secondly it's pretty hard to find jobs that pay in bitcoin. Unless the customers pay in bitcoin, the business owner would have to purchase bitcoin specifically for this. And if the rate moved before they paid their workers, they might have to spend additional money to cover the difference.

Until we adopt bitcoin as a society, or at least a lot more than this, bitcoin is too rare of a thing to assist with something as common as unemployment.
92  Economy / Economics / Re: The future of the paper money on: June 30, 2017, 09:39:12 PM
Yes the future of paper money seems to be at a dark phase, although the plastic money has taken some part of it but with the increasing trend of the cryptocurrency the paper money will lose its market, the paper money is expected to come to a very low level of use in the next one or two decades. As we can see people prefer credit card and debit card more than the cash now a days.

But paper money still serves a useful purpose for a lot of people. Cash is way more convenient and doesn't require a pin number, or an id card to use. Its a bearer instrument. If you have cash, people assume it belongs to you or at least you have permission to spend it Smiley

And if you ever want to buy anything that you might not want on your bank statement, you can always depend on cash. But it's a security risk for a lot of the same reasons, it feels way better to carry a thousand bucks on a card or check, instead of in your pocket Smiley
93  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Low Market Caps? on: June 30, 2017, 09:30:33 PM
For huge 100-1000x returns I was told to invest in a coin that has a low market cap.

What starting amount is considered to be a low market cap?

What about coins that had high ATH's (large market caps) before and now they settled down to low market caps. It is wise to invest in this?

The top 10 cryptos that contain the biggest market caps we won't see no more 100-1000x returns with them no more? What will happen to coins with low market caps if the top 10 markets caps are still growing fast to 100-1000x again and what environment is required to create this growth?

Which coins have low market caps and also have a total supply (preferably low supply) and offers real world usage?

You may get big returns, but on relatively small position. Low capitalization usually means poor liquidity in exchanges. you may score big investing in a small time alt, but if your position is too big relative to the books, it may take a long time to pull that value off the exchange. There simply wont be enough participants to fill your orders.

its really easy to buy a low cap altcoin, but sometimes you might get stuck with it for longer than you'd like Sad Time is money.
94  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple will be the new Paypal in the world on: June 30, 2017, 09:25:21 PM

Ripple is the most regulation friendly crypto (that just happens to have reversible transactions Wink) Of the cryptos that are viable right now and actually have a chance to be adopted by corporate America, it would be either Ripple or Ethereum. Ripple seems the most likely though; the gateways are points of centralization, something that traditional finance actually appreciates. It's easier to assign liability to a central point of failure Smiley Ripple, now that you have said it really does remind me of Paypal.

Well it's well on its way, it's already hated by a large majority of people. lol

Paypal is Voldemort Angry they held a lot of my money for a very long time.
95  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Afraid of August One? on: June 30, 2017, 08:37:17 PM

I think it will be a good day to buy up Bitcoin and also celebrate because we will be moving forward with better technology. Bitcoin is going to grow up and progress on August 1st.
To buy Bitcoin  on August 1st IMO wouldn't be a very good investment decision, because market would lack direction on that day on account of the uncertainty in the air. I think the best bet is to either be adventurous and buy some Bitcoin couple of days to the day and hope for the best or simply stay out of the market until the bubbles be over. However something I see amiss with the later is that it looks likely to lead to a regret.

There is a chance one of the chains could rally, but like you I feel that a bear market is far more likely. Whenever the bitcoin community loses confidence as a whole, we see really long downward trends, like Mt Gox for example. I think the floor is slightly over 2k, but we will see Wink

I hope it doesn't go down for an extended period of time, and I really hope it doesn't drag the rest of the markets down with it, like we are seeing right now. May be a time to get some discount coins Cheesy
96  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How/Where to Report Stolen Cryptocurrency? on: June 30, 2017, 08:29:57 PM
I've had my money stolen from Poloniex. Contacted poloniex- they said they can't do anything.
At this point I know there's no way to get it back, but I just want to report it somewhere within the legal system.
Can I report it to FBI or the local Police?
Any other places/people to report to?

Start off by contacting your local authorities. They may have a cybercrime division that they can hand your case directly to, if not, they will refer your case to the proper agency. You want to generate a police report; you can claim the theft as a capital loss if you don't get your money returned. But bitcoin is no longer new. Police actually have ways to research intrusions, and the blockchain isn't so mysterious to law enforcement anymore. They will ask Polo for evidence, so if it was an inside job, it may come to light.

I'm sorry for your loss. And Polo is having a lot of poor customer experiences right now, it seems.
97  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dash is safely scaling to 300+MB while Bitcoin can't even get to 2MB on: June 30, 2017, 07:09:43 PM
Why can't bitcoin even get to 2mB?

One word: Propaganda.

I have a different world for it, Politics. The argument for larger blocks has only faced opposition from the miners, not the users or devs. Users really don't care if miners lose income sue to a change in protocol; everyone that isn't a miner is pretty upset about the state of fees at the moment: (

The Politics of this are so bad, we have November looming ahead of us. We let this go so far that we are looking at a fork, rather than a compromise.
98  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BAT - Basic Attention Token ICO (31-5-17)- Worth Investing? on: June 30, 2017, 09:50:47 AM
What BAT is trying to do will have to ultimately be done!!! Advertising will change and probably look like something that BAT is doing.

SO investing in BAT is investing in that idea! weather they pull it off or not is a diff story.. But team looks solid and im sure they can raise money lol (now a days it aint that hard plus they prob sold the ico to the initial investors so they can have some control)

all they have to do is prove the concept with their browser and then call up Mozzilla and tell them to switch over Smiley

just buy some man its .18 cents lol

I was looking at Adex as a hedge against BAT because of this. BAT was the first mover, but supply greatly outstripped demand. I wish the had a more open architecture than a proprietary browser (people are particular about their favorite browsers, I am at least). Adex is cross platform by contrast, that will greatly facilitate adoption

I hope Brave makes that deal with Mozilla ASAP. There are now other entrants in the market; time may be an issue now.
99  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Dogecoin have a future? on: June 29, 2017, 11:51:46 PM
It won't have any future. Think about it: What does Dodge make better than other coins?

much faster transactions than bitcoin for example

Yeah sure, but there are plenty other coins that are as fast as dodge but have also other advantages, like Byteball or IOTA.

It's true, but those coins don't have the market cap that DOGE does. It's been within the top 20 for a long time now, I think the trust, speed and the ultra low fees (even a 5 DOGE withdrawal fee isn't that bad) will keep DOGE around for a while.

It just occurred to me that people must still mine DOGE, for the network to persist. that's hilarious to me Smiley
100  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ADX]*NEW* AdEx Network - Decentralized Ad Exchange on: June 29, 2017, 11:38:45 PM
I am very optimistic with this project. I think many people who join this project will succeed. Just wait.
this project indeed will succeed. it only requires 40000 eth to start and it will finish within an hour.
It will finish only in an hour!!!! The time is very less compaerd to other ICO which lasts for the whole month or some are also there which lasts for about two month, I believe that the tokens will also be released quiet quickly as compared to other ICO.

You think it will last an hour? Given the way ICOs have been going as of late, I expect a few things to happen:

1) Massive network congestion
2) An almost instantaneous sell out
3) a whale comes through and takes a substantial amount at once

Also curious what exchanges are going to list this, I think the token will become unlocked much quicker than expected, because it sells out much quicker than expected. I feel like liqui.IO or Bittrex, they are pretty quick about listing recent ICO token Smiley
