81  Other / Off-topic / Re: Merit System Upgrade on: January 26, 2018, 03:03:51 PM
I don’t have much Merit to give but I’m going to give it up until it’s all gone. I’m not sure if this is the right section for this thread because I’m not really selling anything. It’s about accounts so I’ll just leave it here until someone decides to move it. I don’t know if this is wrong to do. I don’t care if I get negative trust for doing this because I don’t buy anything here, sell anything here, join signature campaigns or post routinely in threads that even show the trust rating. Essentially I don’t make money here so I don’t use trust anyway.

I felt sorry for SOME of the members that posted in the merit thread. They seemed to be fairly articulate, fairly knowledgeable, rational and really trying to be members of this group of dreamers (community).

Here’s how it’s going to work. You’re not just going to beg for merit and I give it. Do not PM me and offer to pay me for merit points. Your money means nothing to me. I have given away more bitcoin than you will likely earn while on this forum (just ask Gleb Gamow if you don’t believe me). I will report you to a mod that will give you negative trust for being a potential scammer. You will ask me to research your post history and direct me to 10-20 posts that you believe show you have a deep desire to learn about, use, and support bitcoin. I will then ask you a couple of questions about how bitcoin works and you will answer them. I don’t care if you take some time to research the answer if you come up with the correct answer. That just means I’ve made you learn more about bitcoin than you knew previously.

Bitcoin does not mean altcoin. I know altcoins are more popular on this forum than bitcoin. I don’t care. I will only help bitcoiners level up. If most of your post history is in altcoin threads I won’t help you. I do not consider Bitcoin Cash to be bitcoin. If you don’t know what the real bitcoin is then you haven’t been here long enough for me to help you. Which leads me to the group I’m willing to help.

Rank                  Required activity            Required merit
Brand new                    0                            0
Newbie                         1                            0
Jr Member                   30                            0
Member                       60                           10
Full Member                120                           100
Sr. Member                 240                           250
Hero Member              480                           500

New members, Newbies, Jr Members and Members don’t need any merit. They don’t have enough post history to judge so I won’t be helping them.

Full members, Sr. Members and Hero Members really got screwed with the merit system. Some of them were really close to leveling up and now have to wait until they’ve impressed the right person to probably get only one merit point from them. The most extreme case of this is Hero Member. They may need hundreds of merit points to level up which could take a very long time to get.

You will be working for 20 merit points. Good luck to all. I will announce when they’re gone and lock the thread.

If you don't care about the things i care about, just go away..
Wow! How..er..um..Legendary?
Sheesh.

2.Soon there maybe a merit farming.
This is very possible to happen and also some guys here will sale their merit to earn money.
This is actually unlikely, at least over the long run.

Accounts do not have any way to automatically gain merit points unless they are a merit source. Also you can only give out 1/2 the merit points you get.

I am a merit source...how much per merit you guys offering?  Tongue Tongue  Time will tell how this makes a difference for the spammers. My guess is that it slows the farmers down a lot and that will help as the copy/paste guys gets bans...
I don't think it would be appropriate for a merit source to sell merit points (how do you know you are a merit source anyway), and seriously trying to do so would probably result in this being taken away.

With the above being said, I would not personally sell merit points, however I don't have a major issue with it as long as you are not a merit source. Your merit points are ultimately earned via your good posts, so I don't see why you can't do what you want with them. Also, if merit points are not being done in the open, it will only create a false sense of security because they would likely be done in secret if there was serious pushback against these kinds of trades.

I would hope that you all are kidding,Right?
Surely it must be against the rules to sell merits.
If not, we have just opened the door for those that have the resources to become the new chiefs.
83  Other / Meta / Re: MERIT - A DEFINITION OF, RICH PEOPLE BECOME RICHER, POOR PEOPLE MAINTAIN POOR on: January 26, 2018, 01:07:04 PM
I have to say, initially i was 100% against this new system, i too thought it was a case of the rich get richer.
However, after reading through a ton of posts and a HUGE mess of complaining, i'm not quite 100% anymore.
While there still is a potential for abuse/hoarding, indifference to 'newbie' members, and overlooked quality posts, I have seen a couple of higher ranking members be quite generous awarding merits.
While this system is by no means perfect, i say shut up the whining and make better quality posts.
I would encourage the higher ranking members to reward the lower ranking members instead of each other(you're already there, why not hi-five in a DM and then reward a lower member)

84  Other / Meta / Re: Merit - A definition of, Rich people maintain Rich, POOR people will be POOR on: January 26, 2018, 01:47:38 AM
A couple of my concerns would be, are enuff 'source' members in the altcoin section to grant(dang the word) merits?
Is there enough 'source' members in the forum, period?
What is to stop people from awarding merits to they homies?
I seen it posted somewhere in here, and i agree, it would have been better just to reset everyone to 0 and let the quality rise from there.
2 pennies.
85  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: January 26, 2018, 12:43:49 AM
May be I don't fully understand the system, but it seems to me that if you have a limited number of merit (note: I don't have any) it will be very difficult to reward who deserve it.
And who have plenty of merits to give will have a lot of power, in many senses.
I can't grasp all the implications, we'll see in the next period.
All I can see is that Legendaries are very happy, and the other aren't.
And I don't think it's just about "quality post improvement"

Btw, I'm here from a very short time, so I can't judge anything. Just accept the situation, we'll see.

You summed it up pretty well there with the exception of losing merits.
You will not lose any merits by giving someone a merit.
For every merit you have you also have 1 to give..
The rest of your post is spot on!
86  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: January 25, 2018, 10:39:08 PM
I came here to see what in the hell was this new merit thing, to find that there is already a +50 pages thread about it Cheesy hilarious...

Why you people care so much about "ranking"? AFAIK it's only useful for scamming noobs. (I'm genuinely asking)

Only used to scam noobs?
I could not help but notice that nice 'apple-like pear' that your rank allows and mine does not..
87  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: January 25, 2018, 10:30:10 PM
honestly, this makes me very sad, even if i understand why this merit system is implemented for.

i am like 3-4 weeks away from my sr.member rank and this fucks me really up Sad

i'm sad, angry and shocked together X_x". now i have to collect like 150 merits in a short time but how Oo", i dont think that people will freely start to like everything i post... since humans are not generous, infact, they can be very harsh to others, being anonymous on the internet...
I have to agree with this..For the most part people tend to lord any kind of power over those that have none.
I see a path to abuse here(merit for crypto perhaps?)
Seems it should/could have been rolled out in a more balanced way.
88  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: January 25, 2018, 09:25:33 PM
Does it mean that when someone doesn't get merit from people for a period of time, their ranks powers down or it doesn't matter whether one gets merit or not. Also will merits now be used as a new means of achieving new rank? Also does it  mean if no one gives you merit, you will remain in the same rank?
Yes, from Jr. Member on you will need to have a certain # of Merit points to advance in rank
89  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: January 25, 2018, 08:57:54 PM
So....I was ready to move up to member on Tuesday, now due to this i have to wait until i receive merit points..Garsh
90  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN IS BETTER THAN WESTERN UNION ? on: January 25, 2018, 02:32:10 PM
woah  Shocked this post was way back 2015 and it is good to see that most of these users are now high-ranked. Hero and Legendary
going to the question, Western union or other similar services usually take 1–5% for a transfer of money while by Bitcoin the usual transaction fee is a couple of cents and you can even pay less if you’re not in a hurry. so I think bitcoin transfer is better

Who are you transferring btc with? "a couple of cents".
You may get someone new to buy in with that story but, the txn fees are astronomical and you know it.
91  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Giving up on: January 24, 2018, 10:47:29 PM
Guys I tried everything to find my account , I can't even fund my account . It's just too hard for Americans to buy cryptocurrency . I can't even send money into any of my accounts to buy bitcoin and it looks like no one on this forum wants to help except for someone that wants me to send money to them to open an account for me . I'm not that stupid

The easiest way is to open a Coinbase acct. you can fund it with USD

Can someone give me a suggestion to how long will I have to hold onto this coin? I'm holding it since I bought .03 cents. Any advise would be appreciated.

I bought @ .06cents, no plans to sell anytime soon.

The Stelar team produced a small report for the last year. This, indeed, is one of the most successful coins of recent times (both in terms of technology and in terms of growth in capitalization).  Cool

One of these days they should publish a road map for 2018.

It will be out on Thursday, i THINK
