Good morning Bitcoinland.

Slept in a little later than I'd planned today but I see I didn't miss much.

No big blocks mined yet, minimal price movement... currently $2732USD (Bitcoinaverage).

The day is still young but this could be a big non-event. Then again, let's wait and see what happens when the first >1MB block is mined.

Hi Jimbo Smiley

So... nothing happened? Do I have Bitcoin C(r)ash in my Electrum wallet now?

Eh whatever.... I'm not gonna check bitcoin til next week.

Then we can all worry about the next uncertainty.... the Nov 2X hard fork + threats from miners moving to BCC if core doesn't HF  Cheesy

Michael Pento says metals will have broken all time highs by late 2018 and bitcoin useless:

https://youtu.be/U3qHMPgYy4c?t=1432

His quotes:
"That's the beauty about gold... it's extremely limited in supply" [as if bitcoin's aren't??]
"...and neither of those attributes [such as limited supply] can be said about ANY digital currency" WTF??

I happen to like Mike Pento, but he really needs to do some more research on Bitcoin before he makes such statements.

He's not stupid, he knows there's 900+ craptocurrencies and there's more incentive to create your own new pump and dump like Ethereum rather than be forced to buy someone else's already cornered scamcoin.  There will always be a market incentive to create new coins as well rather than people paying $5, $10, $100, or $1000 transaction fees.  The greater fool concept only works if people actually need what you have.

If Elwar corners all 21 million bitcoins, guess what?  It doesn't mean anything to me.  I can just ignore him and go on with life and use metals or create my own craptocurrency to bypass him.  If I corner all $40 billion or so of above ground silver, you don't get to bypass me since it's actually a non-virtual good that's used in lots of things.  A "virtual commodity" as a concept definitely ranks up there as one of the biggest economic scams of all time.

No, he's pretty stupid if he thinks gold will outperform bitcoin lol  Roll Eyes

The market cap of above ground silver and bitcoin is similar now.  Bitcoin is no longer some cheap penny stock.  The US gold vs debt chart with 92% correlation shows gold will hit at least $2200 in the next bull run, which would bring the GSR to 30:1 or lower ($73 silver).  Bitcoin would need to hit $12,000 to compete with that almost guaranteed silver upside in the near future.

But that's a very conservative number for just a stable market situation.  In a real crisis situation and rush to hard assets, gold would be more like $5000 and $166 silver or more.  Or a government metals revaluation of gold to $10k and silver to 1:15 ratio of astronomically high numbers like $600 silver.  Bitcoin would need to be able to hit $100k each to compete with that possible silver upside.  It will never happen.  Big corporations will just create their own scamcoins and try to force people into them and the crypto market cap will be divided up between 50 different coins (also due to poor scalability and high fees), unlike the metals market where you can't just "invent" a new gold or silver and are forced to buy the real thing.

So gold will hit $2200 based off the arbritarty gold vs debt chart, and silver is guaranteed at least $73 because of gold silver ratio... ok.

We have 1000s of scam coins today, they are not holding bitcoin back one bit... your last point falls apart from the evidence we've have been seeing since the first altcoin.

Bitcoin will hit $10K before gold or silver has another rally (IF they have another rally). Menials will prefer bitcoin over gold, it's much more useful and upside is much higher. Sorry you sold.

Are people actually getting 4-5% daily interest on lending BTC in polo??

Anyone try it? Is there a big risk of losing BTC?

There is a little risk, but you can lend for 2 or 60 days max. It ussually gaves 0.10% but because of speculation about aug 1st is giving like 4% daily return. there is no way to it to not be payed, because that money is used for margin trading.

I have been lending in poloniex for 2 months, it really works.

The lowest loan offer right now is 3.1%.

The risks to loaning on POLO are listed below.
a) A flash crash happens and the POLO program doesn't call the margin in time for the loan taker to pay you back.
b) Polo's program has an error and you do not get your funds back,
c)Your Polo account gets hacked, and someone manages to steal you coins when they are not on order.
d)Polo becomes insolvent due to coins getting hacked/embezzeled/seized.

Thanks guys

Can I lend 100 BTC and make 3BTC/day??  Grin Grin Grin

90  Economy / Speculation / Re: John McAfee: Bitcoin will go above 500k $ in 3 years on: July 23, 2017, 07:42:21 AM
He's talking about Jihan's bitcoin... which is essentially Bitcoin Cash
91  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 22, 2017, 10:21:56 PM
So does all of Jihan's/Antpool's hash power go BitcoinCash after Aug 1st?

If the parasites (Jihan, Ver, ViaBTC) all move their hash away from bitcoin... I hate to admit it but that makes BTC less secure overall but it's also nice to get rid of these clowns.

What's stopping Jihan, ViaBTC, and Ver to market dump their thousands of BTC after Aug 1 to plummet the price and freeze sales of BCC to artificially pump the price... making it appear as if BCC is the winning chain.

Gold + Silver = Dumb money

Bitcoin = Smart money

It's as simple as that. Let's see which one outperforms in 3 years... I know where I'm putting my money, such a tough choice   Roll Eyes
93  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Siacoin Epic Monster Moon on: July 22, 2017, 05:51:10 AM
Can anyone explain two things:

1. Why did Siacoin crash harder than the other alts, even though there is a strong backing from people in the business?
2. How is it an alt will always depend on BTC to stay up or down? Why can't alts, especially like Siacoin hold their own ups and downs?

I explain the reasons with my current knowledge gladly.

1. Siacoin is a pumped trash. So it's very normal losing its value while the real altcoins save their values.
2. Alts hold their own down and ups, but only the real alts. Not the ones like siacoin.

Lol good trolling. Now GTFO
94  Economy / Speculation / Re: Just DO. NOT. SELL. Bitcoin... we can ALL be rich! on: July 20, 2017, 06:12:47 PM
BUMP

Message still applies. Do not sell your bitcoin. Everyone HODL so we all get rich.. why pay capital gains when BTC will be accepted everywhere in a few years, by then each BTC will be worth a lot more than it is today.
95  Economy / Speculation / Re: YORK's price prediction topic. on: July 20, 2017, 06:10:58 PM

My dad has been interested in investing in bitcoin for a while. I told him to do it SOON before this Segwit drama is over... told him to hurry up and do it this weekend when we dipped to $1900... I knew it was a great opp thanks to noobs panicking. He was lazy about it and finally when I told him we were at $2600 he transfers me the $$ to put in bitcoin.

Now I'm not even sure.... hate buying bitcoin near ATH levels  ..... especially when my personal cost avg is $580 lmao!!  Roll Eyes

But what do you guys think, with segwit cleared is this the start of a new rally? I think it could be... but hate buying when we are at a high

100  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 18, 2017, 07:02:54 AM
And the price keeps creeping upward. $2300 before morning (EDT)?

Last week is beginning to look like an aberration. The almost 2-year-old uptrend seems to still be in order.

It's funny how a little panic-inspired dip of less than a week's duration had so many people talking about bursting bubbles, bear markets, and the death of Bitcoin.

It seems a certain honey badger had different ideas.

Sup? Wink

BTC barely mooned in this uptrend ($3K? pshh), lets at least get our moonshot before a bear market. That's gonna require some nice long weekly greens.

This bounce was strong, bears are gonna be fierce at the $2300 zone, but they getting nervous, segwit is just around the corner
