No. No one is buying up large amounts of BTC right now. Look at the order books of the major exchanges. That is why the demand is low. If someone starts hoarding BTC in significant amounts, then the price will quickly rise.

look @ bitstamp... doesn´t their logo look like a stamp?? than you might know how they got this idea... and yes one could say it is a collectible asset....

Recent drop in Bitcoin prices is due to the Chinese Bitcoin exchanges receiving notifications from their respective banks saying that they must close their accounts. However, it is important to note that the PBOC has yet to make an official statement.

As for now, one thing is clear: Bitcoin is not banned in China.

World's first?  There was one I saw several months ago in the Los Angeles area that took them so probably not.
