I don't really understand how they can say that. Just because it isn't issued by a central bank doesn't make it less valid as a currency or payment medium. If people are using it to buy and sell things, then it's a currency. And I think stamps are considered legal tender in some places.

look @ bitstamp... doesn´t their logo look like a stamp?? than you might know how they got this idea... and yes one could say it is a collectible asset....

No. No one is buying up large amounts of BTC right now. Look at the order books of the major exchanges. That is why the demand is low. If someone starts hoarding BTC in significant amounts, then the price will quickly rise.

or they could just be buying in small orders... without buying up the bid

... yes, bitcoin is a collectible. Possibly they could be further classified as "curios" or even "manufactured collectibles" ... manufactured curios?
