81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Pool][Profit-Switch][Optional Auto-Exchange per Coin][Vardiff] ~ Hashcows on: December 24, 2013, 08:56:26 PM
Just throwing this out there; HC has had a steady 2-3GH/s for the last little while; using an average of 2.5GH/s yield an average profitability of about 40,000$ USD per day for the pool (I'd say this is conservative).

2% of that + 0.4% (autotrading at Cryptsy is 0.1% so HC takes 0.4% on the autotrades) = 2.4% * 40,000 = $960 per day take home for the cows. There are other costs to run the servers sure, but because the profit estimate was conservative, I'd be willing to bet this is roughly the take-home pay for the cows.

Thus, the breach cost them roughly 26 days of profit, something they should absolutely refund.

To the cows: This refund is about a month of earnings to you... you have 2 options:
1) Refund the ~40BTC to your miners, solidify trust, and make the amount back within the next month, plus more (probably)! To the MOOOOn!
2) Lose your miners, and either operate a tiny pool or close it down altogether. You'll save the $25k but lose out on any future potential earnings. Remember, you are still in the growth phase, and your potential earnings are much higher than they are now. I wouldn't be surprised if by this time next year you're making $25k per day.
3) Other creative but immoral actions: eg: be scumbags and change your identities and open up another pool under a new name and start from scratch a completely new 'brand' if you will...

Just my $0.02.

How the hell is this possible...

I think that number is based on shares submitted over the last 5 minutes. Probably had a lot of hardware, and also got very lucky and found a lot of shares over a short period of time.

No dude, it's been like that all day!

To anyone asking questions about anything to do with estimated or unexchanged earnings:

Wait till 11pm EST after mining for 24h with the cows, see what you get, then come and ask questions. Everything else until the payout time is frankly meaningless as there is a lot of back-end to it that is variable.

I must say though, 2.5% is high for a pool with unreliabilities and somewhat unstable payouts. I think you guys should lower it by 1% at the least because just the coin switching alone takes ~5% off of our mining earnings already. That, or hurry up and get the second stratum server up (and announce it and describe how to use for those that are new so to avoid complaints/questions).

Btw, whereabouts are you guys located geographically? Need any help with anything?

FYI I was getting 5-10% rejects with the cows, had to switch over for the time being. Might want to do something about coins which we have a high reject rate with, otherwise communicate it that 'even though there are a lot of rejects, it's still more profitable' type of thing..

Hey!
What happened to this? It looks like it's mostly euro-based, and I see a trading fee..?

Got excited when I read the first post, but then I did realize it was 2 years old..

Greed took over?

Yeah the issue is the maturity may take quite some time =\

Let's take a poll on it, I have another miner coming and I'm seeing more profitability at other pools, but I can, and want to totally see hashcows working. Also, you guys need to do a smoother transition when you start mining another coin - start up the other server in parallel and do a proper hand-off so we don't all disconnect and then reconnect.. wasted 30sec every 20min of the day or so, adds up...

Okay so finally decided to make an account here and ask this..

Why not trade the coins after each round? These coins are so volatile that by the time it gets to 11pm EST, the 'most profitable coin' is only the one we are mining at THAT time, the rest are completely random, usually less on average.. What's the point of an auto-switching auto-trading pool if it's really 'auto-traded ONCE'? You're better off just stashing each coin till it becomes profitable again THEN sell/dump it..

Is that not how it works, or at least should work? Otherwise this profit-switching thing makes no sense.. I'm fine with a one-time a day payout, but you should be trading these while they're still profitable!

TL;DR:
1) Trade these coins at the 'profitable' times, after each round..
2) Stash a days' worth of coins. Then as you build up inventory, sell them the NEXT time they are profitable (I realise this may upset some miners, but it would reward the dedicated ones - in fact, this will discourage hopping as well).

If you make any error (like password needs to be longer than 8 characters), you can no longer register with the username you just tried. It just tells you 'You just registered 45sec ago', which I didn't, and logging in or waiting did not help. Had to use a diff username.

Also as I just tried to post something here, it said 'Your last post was less than 360 sec ago'.

What's going on here? ...
