I've been waiting to see some concrete name-recognition numbers. This is very useful.
I'd be interested to see how much that number kicks up if you select out the elderly population respondents. Never free a mind and all that...
The most important number in all of this: 0.6% That equates to 1.9 million US bitcoin users.
Unfortunately the sample size is too small here as that means that just 6 respondents out of the 1000 polled had used bitcoin. It could be way off the true number.

Good news but is there anyone else than Mt Gox that offer an API?
There´s a site where the Mt Gox market depth is presented live - but I lost the bookmark. Any one have it?
mtgoxlive.com or bitcoinity.org show the dynamic orderbook, bitcoincharts.com has smaller snapshots too. On a related note. It would be in everyone's interest to push for a Global Best Bid or Offer system ala (NBBO in the US). This is where your chosen bitcoin exchange would silently route your order to another exchange if it would get you a better price. It would require lines of credit between exchanges but thanks to bitcoin, settlement would be near-instant. Exchanges would compete more on service and the community would benefit immensely.

I'm not 100% sure what you're asking. Use the date the article was published, put it at the beginning of the thread title so it's formated like YYYY-MM-DD <publication> - <article title> If you forgot, you can always click the edit button on the right hand side then fix the title. Thanks for helping to maintain the press section. Edit: I get what you are asking now. I believe using a date format that sorts alphabetically is best. See my thread here for one example of what is possible when we do this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=189611.0

http://portforwardpodcast.com/show-31-bitcoin-2013/Warning: This is long; the intro section alone runs for like 8 minutes. Plus some non-family friendly language at times, just FYI. Still only half way through this, so might extend the below later. - The impatient can skip to 08m10s for kick-off (some over-excited users of the Lamassu bitcoin ATM).
- 14m00s - Some fun anecdotes about random bitcoin generosity and the author driving Forbes reporter Kashmir Hill to the conference.
- Drifts back and forth a long while between bitcoin and general geek topics (ruby on rails, raid levels, COW file systems, bug bounties etc.)
- Wonder what the 4am bitcoin-conference stoner-economics talk was like? Skip to 1h07m and find out.

Wow, 8% Conversion fee! That's a cup of cold water on what should be one of bitcoin's core advantages; (that of avoiding credit card fees). He's more of a business man than a programmer all right!

Looks like we bagged the weekend magazine front page.

Geez, that was really long. Bitcoin doesn't usually get serious column inches like that. I wonder if it's destined for tomorrows weekend print edition.

It was quite a well paced intro to how bitcoin works, but it did have some major omissions:
A) The supply is predictable and capped. (21M was not mentioned at any point). B) It's been the best alternative investment on the planet for the last few years. (That's kind of crucial point when doing a news story on a new currency, no?) C) No mention of its global nature, A viewer could be forgiven for thinking that this new money only applies to the UK.
Paraphrasing their summary of its value: "It fluctuates wildly and could collapse at any time". Talk about one sided.
Still, no such thing as bad press. I'd air it daily if I was in charge.
