81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Pro on-chain scaling on: August 07, 2017, 04:46:56 AM
Interesting question... What effect will there be on Bitcoin if Bitcoin Cash shares the same history, yet is 10x faster to sync with much faster transaction times?

More useful like 'Cash?'

Transaction times are the same assuming you pay the appropriate fee (10min per block, 6 confirmation recommendation - maybe higher for BCH due to low realitive hash rate for a SHA256 network), it has lower fees but not by much and that gap will close further with segwit. Basically neither are practical as "cash", thats where things like alt coins and side chains will come in.
82  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WARNING DeepOnion is a SCAM, proof inside! on: August 07, 2017, 03:15:46 AM
Such a coincidence that most people defending the DeepOnion coin have a DeepOnion signature Huh

I get that you're trying to imply people are only supporting the coin because they have a vested interest in it but lets be logical here, even if you didn't know about the coin before seeing the scam accusations before voicing your opinion for or against it you would have probably (or at least should have) looked into the coin and its details, if after that you believe you want to voice your support for the coin theres a pretty good chance you would also want to claim some free coins.

Sure there might be some who think its a scam but want to cash in by pumping it with fake support but I think for the majorty its far more likely they just want access to the coins of a project they support, to me it seems strange to want to show support for a project and then turn around and say "but na... I dont want any of its coins".

Personally I'm on the fence, the premise seems great but there are some valid concerns so I'll collect my free coins and over the next 40ish weeks of the campaign I'll see how things shake out and how the dev handles himself before investing monetarily. I'm not ready to voice an opinion for or against the project yet but I also dislike seeing people use logical fallacies to try and invalidate others opinions.
83  Economy / Reputation / Re: Can a default trust member (Lauda) arbitrary destroy other people's reputation?? on: August 06, 2017, 10:35:14 PM
IMO what I see here basically invalidates the trust rating in my eyes, even if there was something a bit more solid to support Laudas feedback 3 negative feedbacks in 5 days is just an attack, I dont know how the default trust network is determined but if this were my forum and I had control over it Lauda would be imediately removed from said network.
1) This thread has nothing to do with the trust ratings that I've left on the user nor could any of my posts *invalidate* those ratings.
2) There is no attack. For it to be an attack, the coin/developer would have to be important enough for someone to have an reason to attack them. This shitcoin is worth zero, and I would not have acted differently towards any developer of any other coin (provided that the course of actions was exactly the same).
3) You don't know how the trust network works, yet you make claims on what should or should not be? Definitely smart. Roll Eyes

1) I dont know what you're reading but this thread is litterally about those trust ratings and their implications. The fact IMO they cannot be trusted invalidates them in my eyes. I.e. I used to see the red numbers next to a persons profile and steer clear now I will just ignore them because I know they cant be trusted.

2) Why not just leave one negative trust rating if you feel so strongly that this is a scam, spamming the trust rating seems like an attack to me and further feeds into why I would no longer trust the trust system here, to me this seems like an abuse of the system. If it were just the one, even though I wouldnt necessarily agree with it, I wouldn't have bothered posting here.

3) Even though I dont know how the default trust network works I know how the trust system in general works and IMO if the people at the "top" of the trust system cant be trusted in my view the whole system cant be trusted.

IMO both sides have some questionable things, crypto-rainbow using the context of an airdrop for a campain and yourself for attacking him with the trust system, there is the miss step of him asking for positive feedback but I see that as an honest mistake trying to ask for help with a broken system when he should have posted here or contacted a mod. It all just seems like something that could have been resolved with an open discourse before jumping stright in with scam accusations and neagtive trust ratings.

At the end of the day this is just my opinion and I cant do anything more than express it in the hopes it will improve things in the future as a trust system that isnt abused could be a great feature but as it stands I feel it can do just as much harm as good.

I hate to say it but to me it seems like children playing games instead of adults trying to build a safe community.

Bittrex was doing over 20000 BTC Volume on Bitcoin Cash (BCC) in a day... When does Bittrex ever do that? Not often. But, who does that kind of thing regularly and this time missed out...? "Poloniex.com

By not supporting the BCC credit upon fork, Poloniex allowed themselves and their exchange to minimize unusual trading disruption between Bitcoin and other Alts (traded in code away from cold wallets).

Basically, Poloniex minimized the distraction of the BCC fork, and probably lowered the amount of traders moving back into BTC on their systems during the fork... saving them in volume of BCC credits being created.

Interesting move... But at the cost of 20k BTC daily trading fee revenue?

But yes. On or about 14 August 2017, Poloniex wants some of the pie. It is the right thing to do for their traders (members) too.

Coinbase is just questionable. Has Coinbase provided a press release demonstrating a duty of care and responsibility to their customers regarding BCC credits, or is Coinbase just helping themselves to the BCC credit/fork money?

Coinbase said they would credit their customers by the 1st of Janurary 2018 lol

If I'm reading things right, the next block and the block after will both have difficulty adjustments.

I'm curious, does anyone know why the mempool doesn't empty after some blocks even though there is still a ton of space left in them? Do some miners ignore transactions when the fees are too low or something?
87  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BLOCKCHAIN BITCOIN PAYMENT DELAYED NOW FOR OVER 4 DAYS on: August 05, 2017, 11:16:32 PM
More info would help but I cant help but think you've done something wrong because in that period the mempool was basically empty, I even saw a Tx with a 1 sato fee go through.
88  Economy / Reputation / Re: Can a default trust member (Lauda) arbitrary destroy other people's reputation?? on: August 05, 2017, 08:24:15 PM
I wanted to wait and see how things shook out with regards to DeepOnion which is why I havn't posted anything for or against it yet and view this topic as seperate to the coin itself. I also have had no relationship with or even past knowledge of the dealings of the people inviolved other than the small amount I have read recently in these posts so with that out of the way...

Totally just sitting here with a big ass grin on my face  Grin

Its probably a bit steep to hold for long though.

I always wondered how or why the block increase to 8mb in BCC/BCH would be a good thing @blueshoe?

Because Bitcoin Core 1MB was failing at keeping up with transactions and it transaction fees were skyrocketing which cause many vendors to drop it.
Just because there is a momentary lag in transaction backlog on bitcoin core, does not mean bitcoin core fixed anything.
The majority of transactions just moved to litecoin and Eth.

Bitcoin Cash is the Fix to the Core's failures and the next backlog on core, it will be apparent to all of the naysayers and core religious fanatics.
CA$H is Superior to Core and Value will reflect that within the year.

╥Aztek

Well if the block size increase to 8MB will enable better handling of transactions in respect to the accommodating ratio per block then i wonder why bitcoin devs refused to implement it! Its not such an easy task to knock off the king of Crypto.
But i thought the whole Segwit implementation was/is to make Bitcoin more robust though!

I believe it has to do with the time to download, verify and construct a new block after one has been mined, with large blocks this takes longer giving the mining pool who found the last block an advantage over others because it already knows what transactions are in the current block and can move straight on to starting to mine the next. The idea behind segwit is it increases capacity of a block (on average roughly 2 times depending on the trasactions that make up the block I think) without increasing block size and in turn verification time, if I understand correctly.
91  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Pro on-chain scaling on: August 04, 2017, 07:59:32 PM
why there is price difference in different exchanges.

Transfers are so slow theres basically no arbirtage once the difficulty settles (and miners stop dropping off) the prices will equalise (and probably tank).
dump the coin on exchange where price is higher
buy xrp from same exchange
send xrp to cheaper exchange
xrp funds arrive in 10sec  Wink
sell xrp and buy cheaper bcc  Wink
make sense? lol

Doing it once, especially when BCH is on a down trend, doesn't make much sense to me, you still have a many hour wait to get that BCH back to the exchange thats trading at a higher value and at that point it'll probably be lower than your buy in price.
obvs theres times to do it and times not to, all depends on your situation and what you want.
Even while its downtrending, it doesnt go straight down,
catch a bcc knive and sprint to the other exchange with xrp , has been very gd for me, when done right  Smiley

It doesn't go straight down but you have a 20 hour wait to transfer your BCH which is why things aren't equalising yet, arbitrage really isn't a good option at the moment you might as well just get your coins on the highest value exchange, sell and either short or wait for things to bottom out at which point transfers will probably be running quicker and all the exchanges will be back to much the same price.

bitcoin now status yes for segwit : where transactions can quickly settle off blockchain meaning not all transactions will have to go through the public ledger
bitcoin cash status no for segwit, What have been the main focus for the future?

Segwit changes the data format so transactions can take up less space in a block, you are thinking of the lightning network I think whcich setles transactions off chain.

We've got our first block on https://bcc.suprnova.cc :

Interesting...
wondering how profitable is it now?
BCH not listed on WhatToMine yet!

https://cash.coin.dance/blocks

I dont know how accurite this is but right now it says its 2.63 times more profitable to be mining BTC instead of BCH.
96  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BitcoinCashClassic [XBS] - A true alternative to BTC & BCH! 6Mb Blocks & PoS! on: August 04, 2017, 03:21:30 PM
...Collect users BTC private Keys...

Am I missunderstanding or are you crazy? In what world would users willingly give their private keys to a third party?

Obviously people have to follow the same exact procedure as of Bitcoin cash to keep their coins safe. Transfer the actual funds of the BTC address of which you will use the private key to redeem XBS to another fresh BTC address before using it to redeem BitcoinCashClassic will ensure that your BTC can't be stolen or used.
BitcoinCashClassic is taking balances valid until Bitcoin block 479000 (25 blocks ago).

Ahh that makes more sense, I didn't realise you were taking the blockchain snapshot at a point before launch instead of at launch Smiley

Also would you consider moving the snapshot block and pre-announcing it? After the BTC/BCH fork settled I moved a bunch of coins back onto exchanges that I doubt I'll be able to get private keys for and I'm sure I wont be the only one.

Nice to see ZCL moving in the right direction again, and the market in general for that matter, a bit of money starting to free up now the BCH claims have been made Wink
