81  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: best sites that gives free bitcoin ? on: December 17, 2014, 03:27:16 AM
hello is there a sites that a give a good amount of bitcoins for free ?

You can try faucets, but you don't really get much bang for your buck.  I've been using https://freebitco.in/ on and off since January, my balance is at 0.0063 bitcoins, you get the idea. When your membership level allows it, signature campaigns can give you a small compensation per post, but it still wont amount to a lot unless you spend a lot of time here and post a tonne. Which can run you into problems with getting banned if your post come across as spam, or posts that don't contain substance.

You can always try you luck at dice sites, like Pocket Dice.  You may get lucky, hard to say.  Nothing is free though.
82  Other / Off-topic / Re: Piratebay taken down on: December 16, 2014, 11:20:42 AM
IsoHunt which has had it's own issues with being taken down, is offering TPB some support.  Af first it looked to be just another mirror site, but they appear to be serving new contest. You can read the story here: http://venturebeat.com/2014/12/12/isohunt-unofficially-resurrects-the-pirate-bay/

Isohunt was running out of Canada for a long time but was shut down after various court appeals from what I know.  They were brought back to life by some anonymous group of people, no clue where it is ran out of now.  Former staff of the Canadian version claim they know nothing about the new site, even though it looks to be exactly the same.

I have been looking at the gaming websites to see what the reaction to the Microsoft news would be ... and it isn't good!

Have a look at IGN posters http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/12/11/you-can-now-pay-for-xbox-and-windows-content-with-bitcoin

Other forums have similar reactions. I think we have a lot of teaching to do.

I felt the same way before I actually learned about it. I just thought it was some digital token that you buy. I.e. nerd money. I didn't know anything about the Blockchain.

They're gamers, what did you expect?  Most of these people like to tell you how much of a whore your mom is, or how they can kick your as, or... you get the idea.  Gaming and flaming come hand in hand for a lot of gamers, LOL!  I bet a lot of them are young teens who have very little clue how fiat even works. Likely have had mommy and daddy buy most their stuff for them at this point.  Most likely cant grasp the big picture and only see bitcoin for what happened this year, which isn't all that good.

Give them time to learn and get educated from people who know a lot about it.  I think a lot of us thought the same way when were first heard about bitcoin and what it was.
84  Other / Off-topic / Re: What do you wish you could buy with btc ? on: December 16, 2014, 09:42:54 AM
I saw someone mention some things about wishing they could buy gas and food with btc ...
I agree with them both, food especially.

So what about you guys ?
Anything that you wish you could buy with btc ? (legal things of course LOL Cheesy)

Simple answer is anything and everything.  I want it to be an option right next to debit and credit.  I know this sin't going to happen anytime soon, but it sure looks more and more likely that it will be widely excepted.

The longer bitcoin is around, the less chance I see of government or whoever is against it, blocking its expansion.  I see more and more places in and around Vancouver that accept bitcoin. As well as ATM's popping up all over Canada.  Hopefully 2015 will be a better year for bitcoinas a whole, 2014 has been a rocky road with a lot of bad press.

I'm still using my trusty Blackberry Bold 9900 that I bought on a 3 year plan just over 3 years ago now.  Oddly enough, it has been one of the better phones I've ever owned.  It takes really good sound quality on videos, just wish the picture quality was better.  Gotta admit, the battery doesn't last nearly as much as it used to.  To get 3 years out of a cell phone these days seems rare.  I do have an otter box case on it.

Now that my contract is up, I'm looking at getting a new phone.  Waiting for the Blackberry Classic to come out. Then again, the Sony Xperia Z3 sure looks like a nice phone, I mainly want a phone for video recording and camera quality, and the Z3 looks awesome!  Not sure if I can give up the physical keyboard though.

86  Economy / Services / Re: Pocket Dice Signature Campaign is back again! on: December 16, 2014, 09:21:13 AM
Glad to see the Pocket Dice sig. campaign back up again.  It was a great campaign the first time around.  Flawless to sign up as long as you follow the instructions correctly, and payouts are paid out on time.

Enrolling once again. Now if only I could earn something from referrals, still at 0.  Sad
87  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] (Staff Only) Earn Bitcoins Simply By Posting on: December 12, 2014, 03:44:05 AM
I've completely missed out on this. Interesting deal indeed, the idea is great.
However I do not agree with the ones saying that Off-topic shouldn't be worth anything. If you really look at it, there sometimes tend to be great discussions of value in it. However, posts like in that thread where you only post a single image, or word games should be nullified.

Now that I realize it, off-topic is probably more valuable in terms of post quality than games and rounds. Off-topic has some pretty good discussions in it, but I see why they don't pay. Some have nothing to do with bitcoin, but games and rounds has things like giveaways, and sometimes are related to gambling so I see the logic there.

When I'm posting, a lot of my posts are in off topic and other type areas of the forum.  Since I don't know a great deal about bitcoin, I tend just to read the threads since I don't have a great deal to add to those discussions.  I do obviously ask the odd question, but questions tend to generally be short.

88  Other / Off-topic / Re: With Ebola striking in Texas on: November 14, 2014, 01:35:46 AM
Ebola is a disease not only Texas but also many other Africa.
As many people said, we have to fighting  with disease.

It is in a very small part of Africa. As for Texas, it is Ebola free, as is the rest of the USA.

As I said earlier in this thread, many were/are freaking out over nothing. Also, there are Ebola patients that have been cured now.  Only a matter of time before Ebola is gone for good.
89  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are house cats useful? on: November 10, 2014, 09:02:39 AM
Maybe.. They hunt rats right?

Hardly.  I used to own a cat years ago, it would catch mice out in the field, and bring them in the house to play with them. Nothing like waking up to a squeaking mouse in the middle of the night. Every once in a while he would choose to decapitate them and leave the head next to the body right outside my bedroom door.  Little bastard!
90  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Police officer JUST SHOT in Ferguson!! on: October 29, 2014, 01:19:22 AM

In conclusion, they're a useless waste of taxpayer dollars.

They willingly put their lives on the line every day, never knowing when some violent thug is going to attack them just 'cause he ran out of iced cream and was in a bad mood.
We're are a lucky society to have these heros around, protecting us.

If that was satire, you're doing it right
Police officers do put their life on the line every day. Without the police and law enforcement then there would be very little that would stop people from committing crimes against you and your family.

The issue with many police forces is that they are poorly trained (do not know enough of the law), and have bad policies in place

All the firearms in my safe say different.
91  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Police officer JUST SHOT in Ferguson!! on: October 27, 2014, 06:18:32 AM
The anger over the police shooting in Ferguson is totally justified.

Everyday cops kill innocent people for the most retarded of reasons in America and no one is ever held responsible for anything.

Multiple eyewitnesses said Mike Brown had his hands up and he said "Don't shoot" right before they killed him. That is murder.

Also, another thing they haven't mentioned in the media. A big reason new riots have started up in Ferguson lately is because someone torched the Mike Brown memorial that was in the street.

Yep that's right, in the middle of the night someone poured gas on the mike brown memorial and torched it.

Like that's not gonna piss some people off.

Mike Browns co-robbery friend was clearly the most coached lying witness I have ever heard speak.
A little black girl looking out her window did CONFIRM that the big man that was killed and later identified as Mike Brown WAS fighting the cop THROUGH the cops window.  There is NO way that the cop PULLED that big ass 300 pound Mike Brown IN his window to start a fight.

Why has nobody asked "Where is the evidence of a bullet hole INSIDE the cops car, OR ~not~ in the cops car?"
If the cop car has a bullet hole inside, that proves the cop story and disproves Mike Brown's co-robber friend story.
-----

I think the police department fucked up by not explaining why forensics left him in the street for 4 hours, and fucked up by not revealing the bullet hole (or lack of) in the cop car.

Forensics recently leaked by the Feds show shots were, in fact, fired inside the police cruiser where Michael Brown first attempted to murder the officer.
Also, 6 African American eye witnesses have come forward and admit Michael Brown was in the midst of bull rushing the officer when the fatal shots were fired. As a longtime resident of Ferguson (and lifelong resident of St. Louis), I am not looking forward to the (almost certain) rioting and looting that will commence as soon as the Grand Jury, in Clayton, votes to not file charges against the officer.

I feel bad for you bud, I get the feeling that this could make the LA riots over Rodney King look tame in comparison. Unfortunately, the Rodney King riot was somewhat justified. This one when it happens, not so much.

Just wanted to stop by and say thank you to Pocket Dice for the sig. campaign.  Sad to see it end for now, but it was a great run campaign. Thanks again.
93  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Looking for signature Campaigns on: October 22, 2014, 09:53:31 PM
I've been looking for some signature campaigns, but so far the ones I've found are either full or I don't qualify for yet. Anyone have any recommendations for good sig campaigns for Jr. Members?

I swear there used to be a thread that listed all the sig campaigns.  I cant seem to find it though.  It would appear this campain takes Jr. members: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=751691.0

You could always search "Signature Campaign" in the Services section, that's how I found the BitBiz.io campaign.

Finally found the thread, here it is: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=615953.0

It lists many of the signature campaigns and there requirements. By the looks of it, there are 3 campaigns that you can be part of.

Thanks! That list was really helpful and I found a great sig Campaign!

That is a really helpful list and I didn't know it existed! Thanks from here as well.

Looks like the list will come in handy now more than ever.  Pocket Dice has ended their campaign. Looks like we are gonna both be on the hunt for a new one.
94  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What will do Obama if Ebola will come to Whitehouse from foreign leaders staff on: October 22, 2014, 08:30:24 PM
What will think and do Obama if Ebola will come to Whitehouse - in any way - for example from foreign leaders staff members  Grin

Not exactly sure what you are trying to say, but I'll give it a go.  There is 0 chance a foreign leader gets close to Obama if there is any chance they make have Ebola.  People seem to forget, that Ebola isn't easy to transmit to other people.  The whole Ebola scare has been blown out of proportion.

Now, if it did happen, you can guarantee that Obama would get the best treatment possible.  With proper medical treatment early enough, Ebola isn't fatal.

No one knows how easy or hard it is to catch Ebola.  Some people have caught it even while exercising universal precautions while others have not shown any signs of catching it while living with people who are half dead with it.

Not buying that one bit.  You need to have direct contact with the bodily fluids to get Ebola.  I've seen some of thos universal precautions you mention.  They work if followed correctly.  I've seen a few pics of workers with their medical suites rolled up.  I've seen a story where the ambulance used to transport an Ebola patient wasn't sanitized for 2 days while it was left in service.

Ebola has got as big as it has (which isn't all that big compared to other diseases) because of laziness and stupidity.  We have people breaking their quarantine to go get food, we have workers not following protocol, etc.

Ebola will soon go away just like SARS did. Soon in time the media will grab onto another disease and seem to make it far more dangerous than it actually is.

Quote
Under South African law, he will have to serve at least one-sixth of his sentence -- 10 months -- before he can ask to be considered for parole.

What a joke.

http://edition.cnn.com/2014/10/21/world/africa/south-africa-pistorius-sentencing/index.html?hpt=hp_t1

Saw this earlier, absolutely disgusting.  I figured since it would be a South African prison, that the problem would take care of itself. They would love him in there and rip him apart.  After all, he doesn't have a leg to stand on.  I was reading earlier though that he will likely serve it in the hospital ward. The fact he may only serve 10 months is mind blowing.  Makes for an interesting precedent.  You can guarantee his fame led into the light sentence.

Not sure if you have heard of Jim Jefferies, but he has a pretty funny comedy bit concerning Oscar Pistorius: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMfRYF1cXgA

98  Other / Off-topic / Re: TV Series Recommendations... on: October 21, 2014, 11:41:09 PM
Just finished watching season 8 of trailer Park Boys on Netflix. Best season they have ever made.  Now that they are on Netflix and not cable TV they can do and get away with a lot more.  No more playing nice for cable, so there is no more censoring of language, and they can get a little darker with the storyline.

I believe I mentioned the series earlier in the thread, but now that I've seen season 8.  I'd say people need to watch the series even more now, even if it's just season 8. Can't wait for season 9 to come out.  Really hope they make more after season 9 though.  It sucked the first time it ended, it's gonna suck even more this time now that I've got back into it.

Haven't been around to post much as a friend came up from Boston. I've been playing tour guide for most of the last week. I've only managed to make 5 posts and I don't want to make a bunch just to get to the claim amount of 10.

Do the 5 posts I made rollover to next week, or do they just get ignored?
100  Other / Off-topic / Re: 3D Printed Gun on: October 21, 2014, 08:09:39 AM
3D printed guns are plastic. How can it withstand the heat generated from the gun powder? Not that I wanted to print one, I am doubting whether it can hit the target when fired.

I've seen a couple videos where they were able to fire off a couple shots and hit a target.  Obviously, you're not going to be able to fire off many before the gun malfunctions, and there is no way I'd ever fire one as I've seen what a misfire can do to a real gun.  Too much of a risk if you ask me, firearm blows up in your face, you're gonna have a very bad day.

I'll stick to firing my real firearms at the range.  But I can see how this technology can and likely will be used one day.  I believe that some printers can use metal as well to print with.  Only a matter of time before the average person can print reliable firearms with a 3D printer from home.

Maybe one day, a gun made from a 3D printer can be use as a real gun.

Didn't this already happen last year?

Yeah, I've seen the videos.

Found one of an actual metal firearm made, interesting.
