81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Marijuana cryptos on: September 05, 2017, 10:55:24 PM
I am very interested in buying only marijuana related cryptocurrencies.

I know of the following:

Potcoin - Market Cap - $20 Million - $0.0957
Dopecoin - $2.7 million - $0.025
Marijuanacoin - $80,000 - $0.06819
Cannabiscoin - $2.1 million - $0.028297
Cannacoin - $204,000 - $0.043592

I've also read of another called "Weedcoin" but can't seem to find anything about it.

My first question is - is there ONE exchange that offers all of these for buy/sell/hold?

It will be a lot easier to manage a single dashboard exchange for multiple marijuana cryptos.

I've seen Bittex.com suggested, although I'm not sure if they offer access to all of those various MMJ coins yet, but I've seen so many online exchanges fold up and everyone loses their coins, I'd really prefer to store these on my desktop/USB drive in a safe.

Secondly, I know Potcoin is the biggest and really the 1st of these types.  I know they had the Rodman/N. Korea controversy a few months ago and it seems the hype is fading and the price is coming down.

The question is - what company ISN'T into just hype and actually making strides in the legal cannabis industry to really take a foothold & be the standard?  Potcoin also seems to be misleading/lie about certain benchmarks within their roadmap - so can a company like this really be trusted?

People say that these marijuana cryptos fill a void in a non-banking industry and when the Feds legalize it, there will be no point in a marijuana crypto.

But if that were the case, then why do all other cryptos do well and have a large market, that have access to legal banking all over the world?

My point is, I think even with federal legalization, which is still years away more than likely, I still see the need for niche based cryptos in particular markets like marijuana.

Everyone argues why shouldn't the MMJ industry just adopt bitcoin?  Well I think the industry wants to carve out its own sector and brand within itself.

I also feel the only way any of these are going to really take off is to gain market share and sign up as many dispensaries and growers as possible to use this as an alternative, possible even with a discounted price for using MMJ cryptos.

So what company has the team and ability to gain physical market share to increase their value?

Thoughts?

So I think I'm going to go with Armory, do I need to download the normal client from bitcoin.org to work in conjunction with the Armory or does Armory act as it's own complete client?

Starting to become slim pickings at this level...

so mtgox & yubikey are the same as instawallet?

How does the Armory Cold Wallet/client compare to the bitcoin.org client?

I assume the bitcoin.org client is the most popular & is very secure?

Wow great info, I will look into both websites.

So these are smaller companies that have just emerged within this market?  Are you the sole owner/employee etc?  Just wondering how big these bitcoin to gold exchanges are.

Do you offer "normal" gold bullion not in the shape of a bitcoin?

Is the ordering/checkout/shipment process for both websites very secure & anonymous?

Once the order is placed with bitcoins how long before it's shipped & how is the bullion actually shipped?  (is it shipped insured?)

I've read something about possibly buying gold with Bitcoins, is this true?

Has anyone else done this & is it getting common?  What exchanges offer this kind of service?

Any more info on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, new to bitcoins but looking to get in on the madness.

A couple of questions, which is the best/more most preferred/securest way to keep/store your bitcoins?

A service such as instawallet or some client you download to your computer?

There are bitcoin hackings/thefts often & I assume this has to do with online wallets, so I would assume that keeping them secured in a client on your computer would be best?

But is it possible for anyone to access your wallet through the client on your computer other than targeting & hacking your & your computer specifically?

Are things such as instawallet more preferred in situations where you are just transferring bitcoins quickly & not actually keeping them stored there for long periods of time?

And which clients that reside on your computer are suggested for best GUI & security?

It would be nice to have a client that has a section that tells you the current real time bitcoin price.

Figuring that you'll get about 30MH/s from each card and a total of 60MH/s combined, you should get about .5 Bitcoins per week. Of course this depends on a variety of things like mining software used, mining pool being used, and luck. At worse you could run your setup for about 10 to 12 weeks, cash out, and use that money to get a better card to mine with.

Hmm, that's not too bad.

What amount of bitcoins are people getting per week that have banger ATI cards?

Nvidia card have much much less hashing power. Even with two of them, you're going to be running at a few hundred less Mh/s than most ATI cards.

Refer to this chart for various card's speeds: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison

Hmm these are the specs:

9800GT    30.36    0.289    105    1800    112

So I guess that's pretty low huh?

I'm new to the hashing power, so dont really know what it means.

Hi, new to Bitcoins, hoping to learn fast.  I should have gotten in a few months ago when I first heard about them.  But I figure it's still not too late if this could really revolutionize the internet.

This is my mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131277

This is my processor (I realize CPU doesnt affect things, but a bad ass CPU still allows your computer to work better): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115017

And I also have two dual Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT's

I realize ATI's are better for mining, but I already have 2 dual cards, so I figured it still might be ok.

What do you guys think, is it worth it for me?

I agree with you 100%

Is keeping in on a thumb drive a better idea?
93  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: looking for information on: June 17, 2011, 11:37:06 PM
I may sound like nagging but surely this is the bitcoin forum not the silk road forum, ey?

Silk Road is the biggest online marketplace using Bitcoins.
Gray and black markets are and will be the backbone of this currency, you like it or not.
You may just as well stop discussing Bitcoin and go back to fiat money if you don't like it.

Yes, this is huge for grey markets it seems.
