81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How will this change the world of mining?? GTX 1080 / 1070 on: July 20, 2016, 08:31:06 AM
Gtx 1060 incoming Smiley .

only good for cheap budget rig, it's not that impressive because it's very akin to a 970 in term of hashpower(10% more?)

i know that people love cheap gpu, but chep gpu = bad density, bad density = more money to invest in components that are not gpu...

Where can we find the specs and ethereum mining performance of  GTX 10-80/70/60 ?

1070 33 with heavy OC 1060 probably 20MH at 90 or 24MH at 120w

1080 is just bad at ethereum, but remember that none will work for now because of a drivers issue on win 10

and an impossibility to port the fix to win 7, at least genoil said so...
Neoscrypt fix for Pascal on win 8.1/7 is the same as possible fix for Eth - so it just takes time to fix (or time and desire..)
82  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GTX 1060 Announced, July 19th on: July 19, 2016, 09:07:57 PM
Nvidia gtx 1060 founders edition is up for sale on nvidias official site . They are selling 1060 for 300$ with free shipping.

No thanks. They themselves just dishonored the price for an inferior reference model.

I would wait for the ASUS STRIX rx 480 instead with the 8-pin connector or for one of the other GTX 1060 cards

Yes it was released today!

Wondering who will be able to give us some ETH mining speeds
its 20 stock, 22 oc - for eth - move along... its 120w founders edition and around 140-150w custom OC editions
on eth its 92w for founders edition

Where did you get this from. Do you have it?
I have founders edition... For others - read the reviews (power draw - custom editions draw more as its designed for OC in mind with more power phases and draw more..)

I want to buy one could you buy one for me and ship it to me?
Sorry, i didnt buy it - i got it for testing...

85  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia GPU Miner on: July 12, 2016, 12:18:33 PM
Hey,

I got bored with ETH  Grin and decided to give this a spin. Forked the SIA GPU Miner written in C and added a few things:

- MSVC project files for those who want to hack on it using Windows.
- pool support using -Q parameter (works similar to Go Miner)
- took the cl kernel from the GO miner to improve performance (roughly +18% on a 7950)
- x64 Windows binaries zipped up in the bin folder.

Planning to improve nvidia opencl performance using some inline PTX asm. This should bring performance close(r) to the native CUDA miners around.
Perhaps improve the CL performance a bit, but that's a crowded market these days.

If you like poking around in CL, there's an undocumented command line parameter (-k filename) that allows you to provide a custom CL kernel.

https://github.com/Genoil/Sia-GPU-Miner

Have fun!

[edit]

it looks like the optimized kernel using uitn2 needs some work. the client reports found blocks, but my hashrate doesn't show any longer on nanopool. I'll wait a little while, may need to revert back and pay closer attention to what results it gives. stay tuned.

is cuda that unfriendly to code with, that it's better to go with opencl first?

No quite the opposite. But I don't have any CUDA GPUs at the moment. Sold my 970 for a good price just before RX 480 hit the market, with the idea of exchanging it for a 1070. But now with 1060 coming, I'll wait for that as I'm only really interested in the architecture, not the performance.

With ethash I learned that some inline PTX assembly in OpenCL can do a lot to match Nvidia OpenCL with CUDA. It means a whole lot of host and device code less to maintain.
How about dual eth+sia on NVIDIA?
What do you think of it?

I've decided to give you some insight to what perf looks like on stock 1060

and what about power consumption?

1060 vs 1070 TPD is 120W vs 150W
so it seems 1070 may looks better in efficiency...
92w at 20mhs eth and up to 120w on other algos

Excellent job on your commit today for Neoscrypt, its working great!

Can you point to the version you are using - want to check 1070 - can you give the link?
89  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CCminer(SP-MOD) Modded NVIDIA Maxwell kernels. on: July 07, 2016, 01:50:35 PM
it can not be done for win 7, win 7 is doomed, new pascal does not work there, on win 10 it work already so dunno why you are complaining there, same for lyra2v2 it work good(41MH with a 1070 is almost 90% more than a 970)

the only problem is neos, which i can not expain since ethereum is working, and neo is still there broken(win 10 also) when it is even less memory intensity

the neoscrypt game is all about how the memory is accessed.
latest djm34 version is highly optimised in that regard.
the 1070 must have some differences in memory access which is triggering the slower behavior.
a 1070 should come to my door tomorrow or monday, then I will make some tests on linux.
On linux its good ~900 for 1070 - and i think i saw 900khs on windows - but i cant reproduce it
90  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ethminer-0.9.41-genoil-1.1 on: July 07, 2016, 01:46:54 PM
Its not wddm - ist just how win 10 vs 7/8 are dealing with memory(maxwell doesnt win from wddm 2.1 - for maxwell it will be lower than win7/8) - for neoscrypt it needs optimizations on win 10 ppwpddm 2.1 as well as 7/8
91  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ethminer-0.9.41-genoil-1.1 on: July 07, 2016, 12:26:00 PM
are you saying the new driver itsself doesn't fix the issue?  Does the tech preview + new driver fix windows 10 hashing?

All pascal gpus (10xx) are good to go over 2gb
And today there is 368.69 driver availible which enables to mine eth at full speed for 10xx series in win 10 insider preview - just install this driver and go

but what is the limit ?

There is no cliff drop as with maxwell - its gradual drop after 4.2gb for 1070/1080
As for eth and wddm - its wddm 2.1 change on win 10 rs1 (release on 2nd of august, availible today with insider preview to everyone) and just a driver change (no wddm) for 368.69 - but needs work from developers to enable linux/win10 performance for eth
The new driver fix win 10 insider preview by itself and needs work on win7/8 (its os specific - devs need work on win7/8 kernel)

Anybody tested these gpus if or when the TLB starts to trash and bottleneck the gpu??

eg. all 9xx nvidia gpus start to tlb trash at 2GB despite having 4 GB+.

Are the 10xx gpus limited in the same way?

Can anyone run Genoils testprogram to verfiy that?
(would also be neat to run it on a RX 480)

Wait for couple of days - card is nice (true 120w )
But on the perf side for eth its memory limited - for other algos its a bit faster then 970
in eth at stock its 92w at 20 mhs sharp (further is memory OC)
I dont know the price exactly - soon it will be revealed
I have final sample and will retest today and post back what I found
In gaming its a gem - beats 480 just a tad slower of 980
95  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Radeon released RX 480. (Card is Released) on: June 30, 2016, 03:15:39 PM

27 MHz at 105W on the wall, is very similar to the R9 Nano. However, 480 is less than half price of Nano, it is still good.

but you are writing about 1070, not 480 Smiley
All I'm saying is that 6 1070 is more hash and power is the same as 4 480
Again it is possible to OC both - but I it needs to be tested for 24/7 stable results
96  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Radeon released RX 480. (Card is Released) on: June 30, 2016, 11:11:39 AM
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EObu3zhEBKE&t=53m22s

Here you can see 4 stock 480 are doing 710w per system - even if you count 80w for the system - its 158w per card!
So its nowhere near 112W GPU-Z is showing for eth mining - apparently its just ASIC (GPU) only and the rest 55W is board and memory - but its not showing it GPUz
Sure you are hoping for BIOS mods and undervolting - but that to be seen what hash and power draw could be achieved
so it should be 1028 W per 6 gpu system (will be a bit more with risers added and psu efficiency loss) - I got 630 for 6 1080 at 23mhs each and I get 730 with 6 1070 at 27mhs each for the whole system... (that includes 21W for the 3 noctua 140mm 3000rpm fans in the system)

did you managed to push the 1070 to the same hash as linux, on windows or still not possible? i see that the last drivers on win 10 are already wddm 2.1

Not yet - should be available next week, but yes - its easy to get over 30mhs with oc in Win 10 - but thats too much on memory - it will not hold/will get the board damaged
I prefer 27 at 105w Smiley

Just FYI - the problem with reference 480 is that it stresses pcie power
just for comparison - 480 draws 80w in stock (up to 100w OC) from pcie connector (290x - 32w, 380x - 48w) this is 24/7 it will stress your motherboard 12v or USB/Ribbon riser power - so it might a good idea to wait and see what happens to reference/custom design in this regard
now - its 80w minimum per card - so 6 should draw at least 480W through risers - and even with molex splitting up in 2 separate 12V lines in PSU might burn you risers/card slots (some use molex to sata - which is much worse)
Just be really careful with multiple 480 rigs!

for comparison with 290x and 380x read here under Update 6 https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/4qfwd4/rx480_fails_pcie_specification/
99  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Radeon released RX 480. (Card is going to be released ) on: June 29, 2016, 08:30:40 AM
On the ethereum forum someone already has the 480. It hashes at 24MH/s using Claymore and uses 200watts from the wall.

well that is really bad, i don't know what is all the deal with this 480 when a 1070 is vastly better seriously

but it's ok less demand on the 1070 i guess
I didnt measure with power meter but i dont think its 200w - if its total system consumption still should be a bit less but depends on the system and power supply - is it with claymore single eth or with decred?
100  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ethminer-0.9.41-genoil-1.1 on: June 26, 2016, 12:52:49 AM

Thank you for a well informed and informational post.

Does that mean developers need to tweak some stuff for it to work in W7/8?

Epsolyn does some work on CCminer, he might be interested. SP as well, but he is 'retired'.

Check: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=770064.0

Also not sure how much this will influence Lyra2v2, but check Nanashi's thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1519266

Yes, devs need to modify the way algo access memory to improve things on memory dependent algos (eth and neoscrypt to my knowledge)
Pascal is 4k pte by default in win 7/8 (where maxwell is 128kb) but can be 2m pte (full memory coverage)
On win 10 current - pascal and maxwell on new drivers are 64kb but pascal will be 2m by default with next driver AND win 10 insider preview and further win 10 july update (which didnt help neoscrypt for some reason - i think i saw 900khs but couldnt repro it - maybe I missed some build or setting i was using)
