Thought id share my experience with both.
Overclocking in linux was far worse then in windows. Could only get 940mhz out of this 6850 on linux but windows its clocks to 975mhz just fine.
So obviously windows will be faster in this case. But just for the sake of it I compared the two at stock speeds.
Windows 7 averaged 201.xx mhash/s [fresh install and boot] Linux averaged 203.xx mhash/s [fresh install and boot]
Managed to get the windows running faster at 204.xx mhash by using task manager to close explorer and every process not needed and having the visual performance set to lowest settings so aero wasn't using any gpu.
Linux already had x-server closed and was running from shell and im no linux expert so didn't know any other ways to optimise it.

Other thing you can try is to flash bios with lower clocks. Or buy a new card same brand then return defective one.

Can I make a feature request. That it saves the info to a txt file when it finds a prefix but it keeps trying for other combination.

Worked for me. Thanks again.

Just watch temps when overvolting. It wont let you go higher enough that it explodes since the voltage control is limited to max of 1.3V but thats enough to get get the chip hot enough to damage it on air cooling.

Sounds like a bad bios flash. Have you tried blind flashing it with a stock bios.

Might work but youll probably get a lot of invaid/stales in the client. Not to mention blue screens if your using windows. Depending on the fault you might be able to fix it tho. Could be caused from bad cooler contact causing high temps or under clocking the memory or gpu could fix the errors.

Defiantly do something to get the temps down. 100C isnt good for a card. Id start by having a 120mm fan blowing on them or a desk fan. If that doesnt cool them then look at removing the coolers and re-applying thermal compound.

If its not to much trouble id really like one. bmgjet at orcon dot net dot nz
Thank you

Iv found 500mhz to be best for memory clock for gddr5 cards and 800mhz for gddr3 cards. Runs a bit hotter then 350 but is worth it imo.

manged to bump speed up to 121mhash/s by changing to phoenix using 3% faster mod (poclbm is faster on my 6850 tho) phoenix -u http://uname:pass@useast.btcguild.com:8332/ -k phatk DEVICE=0 PLATFORM=0 VECTORS AGGRESSION=13 BFI_INT worksize=128 FASTLOOP=false makes computer run slower tho. Chaning AGGRESSION to 9 makes pc useable but speed drops back to 119mhash/s Well, I hope you realize 2mh/s is 0.001 bitcoins per week at current difficulty in a pool. I wouldn't be too worried. It adds up tho. 2mhash/s on this computer, 4 more on my one, 2 more on my server. So thats 8 more i wouldnt of other wise had. You might not want to have a faster speed but if I had a lot of pcs it could really stack up.

Just needs GPU support then it will be real useful. Managed to add 1 address iv made to a wallet in virtual machine session.
So now to create 1bmgjet.............. which will take forever on cpu.

My 5670 overclocked can hash at about 110MH/s max. Since the 6670 have 80 SP more, its hash rate is probably between 120-135.
They're not the same SP's. Efficiency for mining for the 6xxx series is a bit lower IIRC. Even with the 3% bonus and such, a 900MHz (over 800MHz) 6670 won't push much past 110mhash/s Well mines getting 119mhash/s as we speak on 875mhz. Going to try another bios to see if I can get 900mhz stable so I can get the 127mhash/s with out vpu error.

All I can say is I wish I could trade places with you. Hasnt gotten above 5C here today and my PC is my only heater lol.

Replace thermal compound and lap the heatsink. Not all of them are made to the same standard and being mass produced you can easly improve on there distribution of thermal compound.

This SHOULD be included in the default client. Reason being, it is incredibly useful for people who know how to use it, and not all of us know how to use linux or feel like spending hours on Windows attempting to compile the source with all of the dependencies.
Discluding a feature like this from anyone who doesn't know how to compile c code would be a terrible thing.
+1 more. This is a very important feature, whether it's exposed to end users or not. Actually, I might have changed my mind (partly) Exporting of a key has a problem, doesn't it: the key is still in the source wallet. There's no way to remove it, is there? Even if there is, it's easy to screw up and people will wonder where their money went. The importing of a privkey is the part that is important for users (bitbill, import key generated with external tool like vanitygen) and this part, luckyly, poses no problems (that I can see), does it? So how about splitting this and putting importprivkey in default, but not dumpprivkey? I still disagree. I'd like to be able to export private keys from wallets, but really don't want to have to try to compile bitcoin again. That was a complete PITA. SgtSpike, are you on windows? Do you have a binary with this patch that you can provide? I've been looking for one for a while. +1 tried compiling it but mingw and vc10 dont seem to like it.
