81  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Apple Approves Bitcoin Wallets on: June 03, 2014, 03:53:25 AM
anyone who still uses Apple after all that Bolshevist crap, needs brain surgery  Angry

a device should do what the owner wants it to do, independent from any regulation, at the end of the day it's the owner and not the lawmakers that paid for the device. apples arrogance is breathtaking.

this is like selling a car that is hard coded not to go faster than the current speed limit  Cheesy

What you don't get is maybe some want a car that can not go above the speed limit.

Move on and quit trying to impose your will on others. OK?

hah!, i just wanted to create this thread Grin.
I still confuse about which wallet should i use, but when i looked at Electrum features, they got this Instant on: Your client does not download the blockchain. It uses a network of specialized servers that index the blockchain.

It save my internet quota Smiley

Multibit only downloads a very small portion of the blockchain somehow, they way I understand it.

I settled on Multibit.

anyone holding over 10 bitcoin today will probably have 1 million USD (in today's purchasing power) in 10-20 years.
most of the fiat pundits who mock bitcoin today will be eating their hat when the USD finally implodes.
be glad you are lucky enough to be here in this moment in time when bitcoin is first invented, it will be quite a story to tell...

HA. Jokes on you. A million dollars today is not what it used to be.

HA, ha. In 10 to 20 years a million dollars will be nothing.

Especially since the US dollar imploded as you say.

<shaking head>

I recently went through the same thing you are going through, only a few steps ahead. Also, I came here to learn, not give advice. But, I will give you my thoughts.

I have 3 wallets.

One is an online wallet/account at an exchange. I use this for a place to buy, and maybe one day sell, BTC. I DO NOT keep much if anything in this account. The reason is I do not control the private keys and worry about the site being hacked. I immediately transfer all BTC to a wallet (Multibit) on my home computer, where they are safe.

Like I said I used Multibit as my main wallet.

I then created a Blockchain wallet where I keep a few BTC so that I always have access to them when away from my home computer, when at work or traveling. I use Blockchain because, I am told, I control my private keys and feel they are safer there. But like I said I only keep a small amount of BTC there.

HTH

I am with the thumbs down crowd. I WOULD NOT WANT A CASHLESS SOCIETY.

Everything from an extended, major power and/or internet outage to privacy concerns scare me.

Hell, recently I lost my ATM and had to call the bank. I sat there with the banker and she told me which Starbucks I stopped at on the way to work. Where I had lunch, stopped for gas and which grocery store I stopped at on the way home, etc.

I certainly am not infatuated with bitcoin, like some, where I want to see it take over. It is an good alternative, but hell no.

You tell me why you want a cashless society?

I think you should team up with these ideas, currently active threads right here:

"Sending coins for neighborhoods to be more silent"

"Market based energy distribution system using Bitcoin and Solar Roadways"

Out of curiosity I finally tried to view his youtube link, it is marked as private and does not work.

Now i'm one of those people who has never really liked apple. Nor for their products or services or for their "Safari security flaws"

But i had 2 apple iPhones (iPhone 5 / 4s) and i thought of myself , i think it's time for me to make an adjustment to having a closed source phone to having a open source phone (YAY BLACK PHONE / ANDROID)

So i thought i would post a video of myself destroying both of these iPhones , And i hope that you guys deeply enjoy it...because i did.

Not a chance. I do take pleasure in the fact that you destroyed two phones that, unless they were already broken, could have been worth in excess of $200, and then come around begging for money.

So, in my opinion I would not waste anything on you because you do not seem like a very smart guy.
89  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: macbook crash and multibit wallet on: May 20, 2014, 10:52:13 PM
I haven't used multibit, but I imagine it's just like other wallets so you can put any wallet.dat file in and synch it up and your coins will still be there no problems. Always make sure to back up your wallets though.

Multibit uses the .wallet extension
90  Economy / Economics / Re: Why the fuck do we still use cash? on: May 17, 2014, 01:24:29 PM
You tell me if you need transfer fees to transfer your cash from one person to another.

NO. Simply hand it to them.
91  Economy / Economics / Re: Why the fuck do we still use cash? on: May 17, 2014, 01:21:01 PM
when we already have crypto currencies, master cards, paypal and other shit, why do we use cash?

Cash is still the simplest means to exchange money anonymously and securely without Big Brother watching.

Exactly. I recently lost my ATM card. Called the bank and we had to got through each and every recent transaction. She told me that I stopped at Starbucks first thing in the morning, where I had lunch, which grocery store I stopped at in the afternoon, where I then got gas, etc.

I wonder if the OP even gets my point.
92  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wallet Emergency! on: May 16, 2014, 07:35:15 PM
it had found the DOS/Stoned

HA! Really? Stoned was the first, and only, virus I have ever had. That was back in about 1992.

94  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Question about paper wallet from new guy on: May 13, 2014, 11:42:18 PM
Which wallet do you use?

I use Multibit, and keep a small amount of BTC at Blockchain.info.

I found that dealing with paper wallets and Multibit is a bit difficult, or so it seems so far.

I did make a paper wallet for a very small amount and was able to import it into Blockchain.

I have installed Electrum, but have found Multibit more to my liking, so far.

95  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Question about paper wallet from new guy on: May 13, 2014, 06:29:20 PM
Oh. Do you have any input on how to do that? Not sure I know where to start to send the excess?

You basically create a transaction sending the coins from the paper wallet to two addresses. One of the address is your hot wallet for everyday use and the other address is the new paper wallet.

I will look into the two address option. Never tried that before.
Thank you,
BBJ

When you redeem the balance, you'll generally be sweeping the entire amount - then send any excess to a new paper wallet.

Oh. Do you have any input on how to do that? Not sure I know where to start to send the excess?

Thanks,
97  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Question about paper wallet from new guy on: May 13, 2014, 05:35:31 PM
Don't spend it, the purpose is to keep it offline and by spending it you're putting your private key out there.  I wouldn't re-use a paper wallet either, just make another one.

Yes, I understand all that. But, at some point in time it will need to come out and be used. Actually in this specific case I am giving my Nephew a paper wallet load with a little BTC for his birthday in hopes of getting him involved. Who knows how long he will be able to sit and look at it, unspent.

Thanks,
98  Other / Beginners & Help / Question about paper wallet from new guy on: May 13, 2014, 05:26:14 PM
I have a question about paper wallets.

While looking into paper wallets I think I have come across conflicting info and now am a bit confused.

At first I was under the impression that when you go to "spend" from the paper wallet you should sweep the entire amount out. Then I started seeing suggestions that when you set it up one should test it to make sure all is good by spending a small amount.

Anybody want to help straighten me out here?

99  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Will It Have The Same Fate As E-gold? on: May 13, 2014, 04:10:45 AM
This has been covered and is being covered ad nauseam.

Look up the protocol and the countless other threads covering this

How about this? Mark as read, ignore and move on while some of us discuss this, learn a little?

IN OTHER WORDS STFU?
100  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it neccessary to 'test' new cold storage? Is there such thing as invalid key? on: May 12, 2014, 03:06:51 PM
OK, now I am confused, again.

Paper wallets. I was under the impression that when you spend from a paper wallet you should empty the it, sweep the entire amount out. This is because of "change" problems.

Now I see where some recommend spending a small amount as a test.

Could somebody clear this up for me?

BBJ
