HOLLY CRAP !!!
I just switched the miner I won over to my normal ( PINGSTER ACCOUNT )
and it found a BLOCK !!!
I'm glad it helped the pool !

I wish I knew how to take a screen shot of it on a windows laptop so you all could see.

With Kano's news I hope this is appropriate.
I received the AVA4 contest miner today and I can't get it to hash. I did change the IP address and can contact the miner. I have pools set up, but still nothing.    Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not sure what I did but it's hashing now!

I set up another account called ava4winner you can check it out on the stats page.

I will let it run there for awhile. Then move it to my account.

Again Kano, I'm sorry about your brother.

I won a Avalon from Kano's pool. I can't get it set up. When I go to network settings my only choice is  LAN network settings but no WAN network.
Is there something I'm missing?

Thanks in advance

91  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BITMAIN announces Antpool: Pushing forward Decentralization on: February 07, 2015, 05:04:52 AM
I agree in that it most likely didn't work as they planned.

You are right on the money with that.

I have finally had a skype text chat with the main Chinese Bitmain software engineers and unfortunately it's precisely as I predicted. In principle they wanted to help decentralise and saw p2pool as the obvious way to get involved and would be good publicity for them. Unfortunately they spent a lot of time fixing their regular pool first and just left this announcement up almost as a "preorder for a better p2pool". However they misunderstood the issues with p2pool and thought that all it needed was more coding expertise and manpower contributed to development to fix it and have only just started investigating it now.  While they can clearly improve on the existing code - and probably will unless the project gets canned - after I queried them about what solutions they had for the intrinsic p2pool protocol limitations/problems, they had precisely zero valid solutions for them.
I see the Chinese as the greatest threat to Bitcoin. They have cheap power, cheap hardware and because of decentralization they can take advantage of the markets around the world. They have smashed the home miner. They took advantaged of the home miner on hardware to build mines. Home miners have built most of the  Chinese mega mines. I have a hard time buying a miner from bitmain now because I know they will just use the profit to build a bigger mine.

If the Chinese had to  trade  with  each other Bitcoin would be 1.10 usd

Hey guys what's the best payout protocol for the antminer pool with only 3 TH/s. I'm just connecting now with the normal stratum+tcp://stratum.antpool.com:3333 method which is PPNLS shares. Is it more effecient to try the solo method? What the biggest difference? You're still getting a cut of the shares from one single block anyway. I'm not sure with only 3 TH/s p2p even on a different node would work very well would it?

I like to use ckpool, http://www.kano.is .  Great pool, honest operator, and can get very lucky at times. Smiley
I would never mine anywhere else.

I've updated the pool hash rate to 2700 since the top miner has sent their hashes somewhere else and I've no idea if they will return.
They used to drop and come back, but seems they've gone elsewhere now.

Lets just CRACK this block!!   I have added an extra 100T to help.

Damn, I got a bad rental on MRR. Waiting for a refund.

Got a refund, now a extra 150t pointed here.  I don't understand why MMR won't check renter rigs?
It's about 1 out of 10 rentals are a scam.

Congratulations to  magnusmining.
I will try and post a review on the new Avalon but Philipma you are a review pro and I may embarrass myself.
I have no equipment to check noise or watts.  I can tell you how it compares to a S1, S2, S3, or a Sp20.

I'll try ........

Thanks everyone for the Congrats!

Heh yeah I just spent 10 minutes going through the old posts trying to find your name (coz forum search doesn't work)
OK, if you come to IRC we can put you in touch with Avalon direct, otherwise I'll talk via PM here to sort it out

PM will work.
Oh, wow, I just checked!
You were actually the very first user to sign up to the pool.
I knew you were early on, but checking in the DB, I've realised you were actually the first username, after me.
Very deserving of a prize Cheesy

It's my first block for the pool and it was with a rental ! Shocked

Block at last! Waiting for confirm.

https://blockchain.info/block/000000000000000013fe7dae3fba84a72cf8d81fc20b9dbf516b9fa0e6845746

Found by pingster! Which means if it's confirmed, he gets the first AVA4!

EDIT: Confirmed! We have a winner.
No confirm required - orphans win also Smiley
But yes it was confirmed anyway. As was the 2nd block.

Wow!! I just woke up and checked pool stats and was happy to see we had found a couple of blocks.
Then checked the blocks and see it was me (pingster) and I won a new miner! Grin Grin Grin
Thank You Thank you Thank you. I have been with this pool since the early days and it's the best run pool.
I can't wait to point the new AVA4 at CKPOOL.  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

I was transferring a bunch of rented miners over. Did that have something to do with it?
