I don't know MikeSpax, but I did purchase from him successfully without escrow.
82  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Launching the Antminer L3+, World's Most Powerful and Efficient Litecoin Miner on: December 27, 2017, 06:19:39 AM
I was just speaking with someone who purchased 29 of the 1st March 2018 batch L3+ and he received $500 coupons for each one. Anyone else get these coupons? I'm curious as to why some people got them when others did not for purchasing from the same batch.

I realized that Bitmain changed the price twice on the first March batch. They gave out coupons to those who purchased at the higher prices in accordance to how much more they paid. I suppose that would make up for the price spike if you already intended on ordering more in the future.
83  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: December 26, 2017, 04:44:03 PM
Just an FYI I got notification that my January order has been shipped today

1 of our 4 January 21-31 orders shipped today. Still no word on our December 21-30 order. I suspect that Bitmain has more than 1 manufacturing facility for the S9 and one of them is outperforming the other. I also noticed that the product page for the December 21-30 batch has been updated with "(HK)" at the end of the heading, which I assume means Hong Kong. The product page for the January 21-31 batch does not have this. Perhaps the "(HK)" denotes which facility the order is being handled by. I've noticed that my previous orders updated to show "(HK)" were shipped later than my shipments for orders the came from product pages that didn't show "(HK)". "(HK)" was definitely not present during the purchasing process, so there still isn't a way to know ahead of time which manufacturing center your order is going to.

Does your order page actually change to "shipped" or does it remain "shipping"? My PSU's still say shipping even though I have them, and I could swear at one point the tracking info was on my order page but then disappeared. It's as if Bitmain doesn't realize that I already have them.

The single January 21-31 batch that shipped actually shows the tracking number on the order page and says shipped. The other orders do not.

85  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: More cost effective to operate Antminer APW at 110V (1200W) v 220V (1600W)? on: December 24, 2017, 01:20:09 AM
Thanks for the clarification! I knew it sounded off and too good to be true.  Cheesy

I did a test between 120v and 240v and found a 50w difference. On 240v, all of the APW series power supplies use only 750W for an L3+, as apposed to 800W when using 120v. Here's a link to the video that includes the test:

86  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: December 24, 2017, 01:00:28 AM
There is no Antminer S9 version with 90 pieces BM1387 ASIC chips.

Makes me wonder if it is a typo. I have seen it on another site

for example:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MCZVPFE/?tag=cryptoguide-20

The description is at the bottom of the page.

Product description
Size:13.5 TH/s

*POWER SUPPLY IS NOT INCLUDED*
If you have 220v-264v power, then Bitmain recommends using the APW3++ power supply.
If you have 110v-120v power (standard power outlets in the US), then the following power supplies have been confirmed to work well:
-Bitmain's APW5 -EVGA's SuperNova 1600G2

AntMiner S9 Specifications:
1. Hash Rate: 13.5 TH/s ±5%
2. Power Consumption: 1323W ±10% (at the wall, with APW3++, 93% efficiency, 25C ambient temp)
3. Power Efficiency: 0.098 W/GH ±7%(at the wall, with APW3++, 93% efficiency, 25°C ambient temp)
4. Rated Voltage: 11.60 ~13.00V
5. ASIC Chip: 90 x BM1387
6. Dimensions: 350mm(L)*135mm(W)*158mm(H)
7. Cooling: 2x 12038 fans
8. Operating Temperature: 0 °C to 40 °C
9. Network Connection: Ethernet (network cable not included)
10. Default Frequency: 650M

Typo confirmed. It should be updated soon.
87  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon 8 official specs released on: December 23, 2017, 03:32:52 AM

I expect the 821 to end up being ballpark $3000, possibly as LOW as $2500, based on current S9 pricing.
Caanan/Avalon has always had a price premium compared to whatever Bitmain product they're closest too, unless they were a TON lower on hashrate, and I don't see them pricing the 821 much if ANY lower than S9 since they're fairly close on hashrate and efficiency.
They might MATCH the price of the S9 due to the hashrate difference, but they won't go lower - Bitmain will tolerate "same price" most likely because they can point at the higher hashrate AND slightly better efficiency, but a lower price would probably prompt a price war.

I mean they told us how they were formulating the price in the press release.  When I plug "my opinion of the numbers" into their "formula" (which by the way their formula makes perfect business sense) I come up with a ballpark of $3500 USD at the retail/disty level.  I see maybe 3k/3.25k for bulk 60 unit pallets.

If coin price doesn't shrink to much farther, from what I am reading in their release that number makes sense.  And honestly it will sell out FAST even at $3500, just look at the comments in some of the threads and how the newbs will pay "anything for them".  If we believe they have a 10x supply/demand problem, coin price stabilizes high, they consider spot pricing of gear then $3500 would be my starting point!

We're talking about millions of dollars in sales if these companies are not employing professional sales people they are making a huge mistake.  If they are the price is well thought out and internal numbers are analyzed and extrapolated to project a multitude of scenarios.  This information will give them the best possible chance to maximize profits.  When a professional sales exec has a 10x supply/demand ratio skew he is having a wet dream, trust me!  He/She will make the most of it if he/she is any fucking good!

If coin price stays high expect 3k to be the best possible scenario.  If coin prices go up whoa watch out, 4k will sound cheap. IMO

I think your assessment is spot on. I, too, expect to see prices between $3k and $4k per unit.

Not bad, but not good enough. I suppose I should reserve judgement until we know pricing though.
89  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: December 19, 2017, 07:57:11 PM
When are we likely to see an upgrade to the S9 which is starting to feel a bit antiquated?...

I'm guessing that Bitmain is waiting for another competitor to show off a rival to the S9. Bitmain will assess the situation and immediately start pre-sales for their S9 successor (S11 perhaps). The pricing will be just good enough to still go with Bitmain. I suspect they will sell out within a few minutes regardless of specs or pricing.
90  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: December 19, 2017, 06:07:23 PM
S9s are showing as Sold out already on Bitmain...

They came back in stock a couple moments later. This often happens right before they actually go out of stock.
91  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer D3 - "Socket Connection Failed" on: December 05, 2017, 09:55:28 PM
I'm setting up a large number of D3s (I know, let's not have that conversation) and a large portion of them from one batch constantly reads Hardware:  Cannot Connect: Socket Connection Failed on the Status | Overview page.

It doesn't go away after FW reboots, replacing FW with Blissz, hours of running, multiple reboots, etc. I've tried APW++ PSUs on 110v, 208v and 240v - none work. I've increased and otherwise tweaked board voltage via Blissz FW. Nada. It's not uncommon to get this error for a few minutes on a new miner, but this never goes away.

Has anyone else encountered this? Any tips? I've tried everything on the Bitmain support page (not much) and it doesn't fix it. They haven't gotten back to my support requests yet...

99% of the time, the "Cannot Connect: Socket Connection Failed" message is due to incorrect pool configuration. Would you be willing to share your pool configuration info with us?

My Nov 20th to 30th batch will be here tomorrow  Grin Along with 40 of my PSU's that I ordered. I've been waiting on the PSU's forever and they finally shipped.

Thanks for the confirmation jchi2210

Hey guys,

I don't know if you guys care much about the AntMiner D3, but we compared mining X11 through ZPool.com, NiceHash.com, and ProHashing.com with the winner coming out to be ZPool. We have no affiliation with ZPool and just picked it because we saw another independent review claiming it was one of the best. Here's the video with the results if anyone's interested:

I just want to add I'm pretty impressed with the numbers these miners are turning out even as all these miners hit their destinations earnings still holding strong, projected ~$120 in one day

Video link below if anyone's interested, and I've gotta say clever routing of your antminer d3 exhaust in your video CryptoCrane!

Excellent video VoskCoin, keep up the good work! We just finished one as well:

Finally finished our video here. It was a rush job, but I'm happy with how it turned out. I'll need to do a follow up with the 3 pools again since ZPool came out so far ahead. I feel like a 72-hour test would yield closer results.

I just made a D3 purchase from cryptocrane on the amazon store. Just in case anything goes wrong, and since I was on amazon already I also bought a clean pair of underwear. I'll post back here with updates when it arrives. Great video!

Thanks Mellonballer, we appreciate the accountability. We look forward to shipping to you as soon as your payment clears Amazon's system.

On an unrelated note, our initial 18-hour mining comparison is showing zpool.ca in the lead ahead of nicehash and prohashing.
