81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Kingdom - 1991 Retro Virtual World(City) on: April 12, 2015, 07:44:37 PM
The Ancient Fellowship of the Knights of the Round Table has met, with the following decisions:

We decided to buy 36 q of land in the 5-N Chapelry (2 "prestige lots" from the Town) for 800 million total, for the building of The Round Table House. The Royal Architects were commissioned to make the plans.

No cost nor sqm totals are yet available, but the main features in the finished building (it will be built in stages):

- 56x56 m base, 50x50 m body completely closed square with inner elevated courtyard.
- height from street to top of the towers 37 m, 7 floors max
- Knights access with carriage via passage to the courtyard, then 11 m high halls and galleries to the Table Room
- Table room round domed, d=22 m, h=9-15 m, spectator seating in higher level, table diameter 14 m to seat 50 Knights
- Main staircase 12 m ascent, 3 m wide, 21 m high
- Grand Ballroom 48x9x9 m, Small Ballroom 24x9x9 m
- Chapel 13x9x11 m
- 50-70 offices for Knights (15-100+ sqm), 20-30 commercial properties all in street level to let
- 3-story public section (Museum or similar)
- Crypt and treasury
- Courtyard garden, terraces, balconies and roof gardens
- Nearly all rooms incl offices high-arched because they are so big that it is necessary
- Extensive supports and buttresses throughout, inside and outside
- Very much light because the width of the building is only 8-11 m excl the domed part.

This is amazing. As one of the 10 Knights of the Round Table, Lord Noms gives the new design his full support and pledges 200k stone to help with the initial phase 1 build.

Meanwhile a nice looking game Full Metal Wars is doing something similar than us, from the crypto-crowdfunding perspective.

It looks like it's real time so not for people in my age, but check it out Smiley

What's the betting Altcoin wave two is caused by alts linked to unique non financial services like online games? quite high IMO.

It wouldn't surprise me. I've been thinking about this a lot. For example, take the Average Joe who might hear about Bitcoin and decide to give it a try. Maybe he is buying a video game at his local game shop, and quite honestly, doesn't care if anybody knows that he did. He sees that they accept Bitcoin, and sees it as just another payment method. It allows him to translate his hard-earned money into a video game. He doesn't really care if it's cash, Visa, or Bitcoin.

Enter these non-financial services, like online games. Now, the only way to play this game is to send Monero into it. He may not even care at all about the currency or the fact that it has privacy built-in. He just wants to try this new game his mate told him about. He joins the game, likes it, and ends up learning a bit about cryptocurrencies in the process. IMO, this is the demographic that we want to go after-people who don't even know what crypto is, but support the ecosystem built around it.

There is only so much trading that crypto people can do amongst themselves until some become rich, some become poor, and many become jaded. We need new blood, and I think online games involving crypto have a very good chance of attracting that group.

I started a draft of a quickstart guide for new players to give them all of the pertinent information in once place. This is a living document and will be edited and added to often.

Excellent start! I believe this could be the start of the "Ingame Rulebook", which is an expandable hypertext (wiki-style) document. Only two things are needed:

- The easy to access sections are somewhat readable and linked to each other intelligently. Ie. structure - think what is important and make that part very concise and clear
- All information is correct.

It does not need to be complete yet. "Grand Hotel's role in the 1488 decision to move the Great Heap of Stone from the Central Square East to its current place in Citadel (where it still is) by the Centenary of the Kingdom" can be added later.

Can I have write access?

I've added you as an editor Smiley

*edit*

This has been disabled until we can come up with a better prize distribution.

After looking around at the destruction that had lay waste to many buildings in the Kingdom, Lord noms took stock of his land and decided that there would need to be much rebuilding. There were some locations that were so damaged, the owners might be interested in just starting anew!  He thought about it, and decided that to help with the Reconstruction, he would like to host a raffle to give lucky winners a free parcel of land.

Once I have the bot in place (hopefully in about 6 hours, but at longest Sunday) you can start playing.

Land Raffle Rules

There will be an up-front cost of 5m (or 10 gold, also accepted) per chance. Pay for your ticket first, then roll. Each ticket gives you a D30 roll (random roll between 1-30). If the number you guessed is the one that the bot gives you, you have won!  At that point, a random land will be selected from the list below and you will immediately be transferred that lot in the game database. Some are only 1q, but there are a few that are 2, and even 4q! There are also two lands in Borough 2 that are especially big. N4 is 12q, and N9 is a huge 20q.  So, for 5m you have a chance of getting 20q of land. Step right up.

I will be using a bot to do the actual die rolls, so that it will be logged in IRC.  You choose the number you wish to roll for directly before rolling so it will be fair. This will be implemented by monoeromooo with a provably fair hash displayed afterwards.  A typicall roll will go like this:

Quote
<bettor> I want to roll for a 7
<bettor> !roll
<SirTippero> You got a 7! Good job, you win!

Upon a winning roll, You will then roll for one of my lands. Here is the breakdown of all lands I currently own. As people win them, this graphic will be updated with crossed off lands that are unavailable to win.

Good luck, and let's start betting! Note: this betting will only be allowed when Sphericon is in IRC and has been notified that you wish to play.

There have been talks in the past about the ability to simply append the payment ID to the address when sending a transaction. If that can be done in the future, then the merchant/receiver just needs to generate a unique payment ID of their own and append it to the receiving address they display to the user.

Thinking about this, why wouldn't a merchant like polo simply make payment ID a required field?  I don't think it is necessarily monero's problem if they offer multiple ways to pay (anonymous or not) and the merchant simply decides to not require the portion that makes the transaction trackable?  For a centralized exchange that needs exact accounting of all transactions, this seems like bad implementation on their part (and everyone else's part who needs to keep track of user transactions).

Looks like a giant sell off, perhaps this denotes that the peak has past.

For now...

I put a buy order in at 0.00302 just in case. But I'm not counting on it. That giant sell order doesn't seem to reflect general sentiment. I think the only thing most xmr holders are feeling at the moment is vindication, not opportunistic. I could be wrong though, what do you guys think, are you feeling like taking some profit?

General sentiment is definitely not wanting to sell.  I believe the sells we saw were inspired by the dumper (catalyst), as people thought XMR may have "peaked." I assume they are hoping to get back in cheaper. This may happen, but in my experience timing the XMR market is difficult at best.

Strong hands haven't sold and will not sell for at least another order of magnitude of price increase, if not two.
98  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Kingdom - 1991 Retro Virtual World(City) on: April 03, 2015, 05:45:33 PM
Noms surveyed the damage and was noticed that a number of buildings
had been damaged. He was glad to see that only 1-2% of all buildings were damaged! Initially, it looked like nobody had been hurt during the quake, as most had prepared prudently.

The noble palace has been leveled. That was a hard pill to swallow. He had recently attended a meeting there and was enjoying his time immensely. Perhaps the new Round Table building would serve the purpose of that which the Noble Palace had.

Noms was glad to see that the King's Palace and the Obelisk were safe. Those two would be a terrible loss if they were damaged or destroyed.

He walked to borough 4, climbed into his carriage, and drove back to witness more of the destruction.

Mother Nature is a powerful beast...

IMO, Poloniex has done nothing wrong. They have enough trouble keeping up with everything that it takes to run an exchange. You have no right to call it the poloniex scam, as they didn't ask users to send those funds. They offered a service, and they are the best exchange for trading XMR. You have a lot of anger in your words, and on top of your red trust rating, I'm not inclined to believe you are doing this for the benefit of anyone.

Should polo tell people they need to use a payment ID? yes. However, I just looked at my polo balance screen and saw this:

Quote
Deposit: You MUST send your deposit using the unique Payment ID below. Failure to do so may result in the loss of your deposit.

It would seem that they are doing what they can do warn users that they must use a payment ID. If the users are not worried enough to contact polo about their funds, why must polo spend hundreds of hours (paid to the employees, no less) tracking down people who didn't follow instructions and don't care enough to go after the funds?

Furthermore, fluffy is right. There is no reason the funds should go back to the developers. The funds should be returned to the people who sent them if there is a way to link them back. If not, polo should be able to keep them. I would like to thank polo for giving us a good platform to trade XMR upon, including using XMR as a base pair. Their platform is better in responsiveness than cryptsy, and the features are better than bittrex.  If it weren't for them, it is possible that XMR wouldn't have as much exposure as it does now.

El Roble looks appealing Smiley am also in the market for a French press if you'd recommend one. I lost mine  Huh

I'd completely forgotten about this offer, since nobody was interested at the time. As luck would have it though, I just picked up some beans today and I have 1 fresh bag of El Roble available. I'll inquire on a price for a French press and get back to you tomorrow.

I might be interested in purchasing some beans as well. Do you ship to EU?
