hi without being participant of the ICO I can (and did already) easily follow steps 1-8, IRI 0.9.0 is up and running, but now with step 9, from where do I get the seed to enter into nostalgia.html? I assume only ICO participants have that seed? cheers write down a long (30+ chars) random sequence containing lowercase latin letters and the number "9". This is your seed. Keep it secret, keep it save. thanks, this works... ...until step 13, but no IOTA show up after refresh. A lot of things happen in the terminal what I do not understand. 1. Download latest JRE 2. Download IRI 3. Unzip IRI 4. Go to the unzipped folder and edit file 'configuration.iri', remove the last line, and save it 5. Open terminal inside the unzipped folder (hold shift down, press right mouse button->open terminal - for windows OS) 6. Check java version: "java -version" (add JRE to system path if needed) 7. Run: "java -jar IRI.jar" 8. Open "nostalgia.html" 9. Enter seed 10. Press Claim IOTAs 11. click OK to the first popup -> Wait for 2nd popup 'packet received' -> OK 12. Wait 10 minutes 13. Click button 'refresh page' (TIP: not the browser button or F5) 14. Check your IOTAs IT'S WORKING!!!! Good work @CfB  PS: Anyone can add if I forgotten something. at least it is obvious, first the coin was hyped with anon-features to a certain price level, then algo was improved to make the coin more profitable for mining.
Miners take profits and causing the sell pressure now.
It is all a bit shady, especially when you ask yourself who profits from the recent tech updates. But I blame nobody.
If this coin has a future? Time will tell after several rounds of halving.
Until then I have no significant hope for an upward price movement.
(sorry when I appear to be a troll but I am not, just a bit disentchanted)

We need visual comparison between the "so called" leaders of anonymity. Like an infographic or something. Let's spell it out - obviously it needs to be done those who do not understand know no better. Lets educate the wider Crypto Community. I agree with this. Even though DEV and some others who are active here understand what i2p is, most people don't. People hear i2p tossed around and they don't truly understand why or how it could possibly be more anonymous than TOR. Furthermore, when people hear that Anoncoin is on the i2p network they don't understand how Verge could possibly be more anonymous. I don't think people want to accept at face value that Verge is truly anonymous; they want to understand WHY it is a truly anonymous coin. This is something that could be illustrated in some kind of diagram or chart. I also agree. maybe we need to explain to people why their anonymous coin is actually not anonymous. and they have been sold a lie. What you need to understand about volume settling down is that it means the price is settling a bit. This is not necessarily a bad thing? We are up 4-5X where we were two weeks ago. If the prices just pumps hard for too long a crash is inevitable. Don't forget that volume goes up when there are lots of buys but volume goes up when there are lots of dumps too. What we want are surges as more money comes in and then for the prices to settle back down a bit. When it does try and ride the waves and increase your holdings. Until the next big move up.  this sounds simple when reading it. but how to detect that the next big move is about to start? |

When I start qt.exe I get a runaway exception with the error message:"Fatal error has occured..."
Exception: NSt8ios_base7failureE
CDataStream::read() : end of data
C:\Users\...
This happens to standard wallet and to Gaming wallet.
What is wrong? How can I solve this?

You cant just run 1.4.4.4 on 1.3.8 Blockchain Files. v1.4xxx is a total upgrade from old bitcoin core so you need to Download the Blockchain from Scratch. First backup your wallet.dat, then download the boostrap archive in OP, then delete everything in GenesysCoin folder in roaming even your Wallet.dat but make sure you backed it up first. then copy and unpack the boostrap.dat firl there, and then re-launch v1.4.4.4 qt.exe - It will import the blockchain from the boostrap instead of download it from the network which could take a lot of time. When you are full synced, you can delete the newly created "wallet.dat" and replace it with your Current wallet.dat from backup. I did as you described and everything goes smoothly and fine. Having already staked Thanks a lot for assistence. P.S. When reading your guidance I remembered reading it some pages before in this thread. I was too busy with work and girlfriend at that time to do it. P.S.S. keep up the good work |
