81  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why the Bank would no longer fit for the future? on: January 03, 2017, 02:45:22 PM
and yet core devs think LN hubs (bank2.0/paypal2.0) is the future of bitcoin

soon starbucks LN hub will be the bank of the future. requiring starbucks to authorise all transactions while starbucks hops the 'funds' to other entities

onchain should be the only solution. otherwise bitcoin is not solving anything, but just pushing fnd managers into commercial hands

Exactly like that. There isn't a single soundfull promise left from Bitcoin. It's neither decentralized (miningpools do control it) nor funny anonymous internet money (ask DreadPirateRoberts about that) nor fit for ecommerce on a grand scale (transaction wise). Even the Mining/Production has left the user's hands.
And now bank2.0/paypal2.0 incomming Undecided

Core does not centralize, it is what keeps us decentralized. Having a decentralized network where nodes are spread and everyone can run their nodes even from your mom's basement, is an expensive thing, this does not come at a price. Building on top of this decentralized network is the best thing we can do. If you are paranoid that LN is "centralized" you can always pay more and wait more to send a transaction directly through the blockchain, but stop dreaming with magical koolaids like Bitcoin Unlimited and other scams.

Venezuela can only free themselves by kicking Maduro's ass from the country once and for all and stablishing a new currency (ideally bitcoin)
83  Economy / Economics / Re: How many BTC will make you a fiat millionaire in 5 years? on: November 01, 2016, 06:27:52 PM
An investment of 10 dollars back in 2010 would make you a millonaire in 2016.
In 5 years an investment of 10.000 dollars will make you a millionaire. So I would say about 20 to 30 BTC is enough to be rich in 5 years. Things change faster than most people can perceive.
84  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What is the minimum amount to start as a trader? on: November 01, 2016, 06:23:35 PM
you can become a bitcoin trader with as low as 10.001 satoshi capital
thats right,10k is the minimal amount for Yobit exchange transaction
before tradding you got to read
read ALOT
but the key to success is practice, doesn't matter how much you know theorywise, there is a big difference between real trades and  demo accounts
bitcoin, unlike Forex, allows you to start with a very low amount and learn the ropes yourself

I would try to save more than 10k sats. At least 50 dollars is a decent amount to start. Sure the cool thing about crypto is that you can deal with small amounts since the fees are really slow, but I wouldn't bother with less than 50 dollars to be honest.
85  Economy / Economics / Re: Does the Price of Bitcoin Matter? on: November 01, 2016, 06:10:37 PM
Let's play the game, that is good for us because we know what the real action is. The price will rise even if that will not be manipulated because bitcoin is progressing and the adoption rate has increased, remember we have good increase this year alone..
The price is indeed increasing, I just checked it today and found that it has already crossed $730+ from yesterday's low of $695. I begin to predict that by December, the price may cross $1000 for sure. What a good time for those that invested heavilly in it. For an bitcoin investor, price always big matters.

The next test is 770-ish, so pay attention to that range. If we are able to cross it and we can be at 780 soon, it should be clear that we are going to aim for the moon, anywhere from 1500 and higher. The uptrend has been going on for a long time now and it keeps getting better.
86  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin accepted in over 10.000 Swiss locations on: November 01, 2016, 06:05:57 PM
https://www.sbb.ch/en/station-services/services/further-services/bitcoin.html

Did anyone see those news? I didn't see a thread here so im making it. It's pretty huge news, I think it went low on the radar because everyone is talking about 0.13.1 release and segwit, but this is also important. The fees are very low and you can go there with bitcoins in your pocket and enjoy shopping pretty much anywhere. What a nice country, too bad im too poor to be able to live there.
That's actually pretty insane to think about. Switzerland seems like such a nice country; neat weapons, lots of banking, pretty open to new technological idea, good currency, and so on.

Surprises me that they would open up 10k locations, but that isn't a bad thing. I'm happy with it.

Swiss is a known place for rich people to store their money because they don't want to pay the high taxes that their origin countries demand. They have a policy of respecting financial privacy, but as we have seen with the leaks, it's not a good idea.

Bitcoin can put at the hands of regular non rich people, a "swiss bank" in their pockets.
87  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: NEver keep all your coins on an exchange on: November 01, 2016, 06:00:05 PM
No matter how many times this is repeated, I keep hearing on forums on people are holding their coins on coinbase, or whatever exchange, simply because they are too lazy to do any research and realize how dumb that is.
This thread should be stickied or something, no matter how many times it's said, people don't learn.
88  Other / Politics & Society / Do you think the elections are rigged? on: November 01, 2016, 05:53:20 PM
I keep hearing people saying how the elections are rigged in order to make Hillary win. I just wonder if this is some sort of conspiracy theory or there is tangible evidence to support this claim?
89  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ALERT] Alert System Retirement on: November 01, 2016, 05:46:50 PM
It somehow feels wrong to undo Satoshi's master plan to inform users when major events happens, but I can see how some people might misuse

this system, if they cannot be properly removed. I was under the impression Gavin's key was removed and he could not access that system... or do

they mean that a rogue developer might try to sabotage Bitcoin whilst he or she still has the key? Well I hope there are a good replacement that can

be properly verified with a PGP key.  Roll Eyes

But like other people pointed at, it's just not a good idea anymore. Back in the day, there was barely no sites reporting bitcoin stuff, now you have millions of bitcoin sites with constant news, even bitcoin core has its own website, back then all there was was the bitcoin client really... so it was needed, today not so much.
90  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ALERT] Alert System Retirement on: November 01, 2016, 05:29:19 PM
That's interesting, it's good to know that the alert key being in the hands of a few is supporting centralization and indirectly affecting the entire network by spreading some form of news. Also, I was wondering why give out the Alert key to the public? Is there any benefit for us from it or is it being done just to support decentralization?
It's being done to support decentralization and to actually kill off the alert system. By releasing the key, the system is completely discredited.

I also thought about asking that very question. Does it make any sense to release the key beyond making the retired system completely "discredited"? Why would developers need to do that at all? What kind of pain in the ass makes them want to "discredit the system"? Are they seeking revenge on someone or what? If the system is dismantled completely, then giving out the public key is technically irrelevant, but if it is not and somehow it is still valid and active, it might wreak havoc.
The system will be sufficiently dead by the time that the key is released. A maximum sequence alert cannot be overridden. Bitcoin Core 0.14 will be constantly broadcasting that final alert so that all nodes receive it by the time the hey is released.

But what is the real purpose of giving out the key? I remember a time when the Linux iptables had a feature that allowed to send back the offending packets to the source (it was called MIRROR or something to that tune, if I'm not mistaken), but it got soon removed since that had been a silly idea right from the start. Why not just abandon this Alert system without making it look like a personal vendetta?

I guess they give out the key to demonstrate that the key is useless after they remove the alert system. What I don't get is... wouldn't the key will still be useful to trigger alerts in the pre 0.13 software??
91  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin make Banks disappear? on: November 01, 2016, 05:16:53 PM
If you are from the average bitcointalk user age range (so somewhere across the 20 to 40 year old age range, and im admittedly puling this statistic out my ass but I asume that is a reasonable range) then it's likely we will see the end of the banking industry as a whole, the whole concept of bank will change radically in the next decades because of bitcoin being able to be your own bank.
92  Economy / Economics / Re: How would you double $100,000 safely? on: August 30, 2016, 12:47:12 AM
Go all in on Bitcoin, pretty sure we will be above 1000 in a year, it's that easy to be honest.
93  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The DAO was a total failure, but a more robust one could emerge on: August 30, 2016, 12:28:15 AM
I believe ETC is going to eventually rise, and we will see people moving from ETC to ETH, at least during the pump. Im not sure about long term performance. I honestly don't like both anymore, but some dapps are really interesting.

Yeah. Dapps is perhaps the only thing that makes ETH and ETC good in my opinion. If we could do this with Bitcoin, then it will be a blast and so there would be no need for ETH/ETC. Rootstock is being actively developed and I hope that once it goes public, it will make Bitcoin a smart contract platform too. Imagine the number of dapps that could be developed on top of the Bitcoin protocol.  Smiley

Yep, I think next year we can see the first sidechains working. In 0.13.1 we will have segwit.
94  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IOTA ICO Price? on: August 30, 2016, 12:27:01 AM
So you are saying IOTA is a scam due the initial distribution of coins? well fuck this was one of the few interesting projects that seemed to have some foundation it.

What do you think of Tauchain/Agoras?
95  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Monero Rising And Will Rise - Best time To Invest Is Now on: August 30, 2016, 12:19:01 AM
buy the rumor sell the news? an oldie but a goldie but almost designed for this particular case. i'm curious to see what's gonna happen all the same.

Indeed. Im undecided about getting now at 150 and hope for a last pump on the "news", or don't get too deluded and watch it become stagnant for the next 3 months... thought gamble.
96  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Investing in ICO vs buying in the exchange on: August 30, 2016, 12:13:25 AM
What are the statistics on this? What is the best thing to do?

For example, at what price the NXT ICO was selling at? NXT has been on a perpetual downtrend since Poloniex added it. At what rate was NXT trading before Poloniex in smaller exchanges?

But ETH ICO was a great investment, same for Synereo and others.

Im not sure yet if its cheaper to wait for a exchange or buy at the ICO.
97  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does anyone care if ICO projects have real code and real teams behind them? on: August 30, 2016, 12:09:55 AM
the question is not that.....

the question is, are you an Ace, a Pro or a Rookie in this game?

This is like real life, a hard worker can gains prosperity if he is good enough, wealthier will be an advantage, dumb people will be dumb people as we see all around everyday....

so please stop the bullshit, this is scam, this is scam, this is scam because of your failure, put yourself togheter n improve your game.

the question is, are you an Ace, a Pro or a Rookie.. OR WHALE in this game?

Whale manipulator trumps all or hell even exchange owners or pool owners or coin devs.
You bottom feeders are on the lower end of the totem pole.

And you would have said that if you knew it. LOL

ICO = SCAM

You are right, most ICOs are very dull and scammish, but some projects are really interesting and have smart people doing hard work behind. Do you really not find Tauchain or Golem interesting? I think those ICOs are good.

99  Other / Off-topic / Re: how bitcoin is popular in your country ? on: August 29, 2016, 11:20:27 PM
Nobody knows about bitcoin in real life. If you could go and ask to 10 people, you would find out that 0 would know what bitcoin is. So its like 1 in 100 people maybe have heard of it.
100  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do people use so many Bitcoin wallets? on: August 29, 2016, 11:15:16 PM
I think having too many wallets creates some sort of mental stress due having several points of failure (assuming you keep different passes and different amount of coins).
Just make backups on a lot of places.
