81  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Magnr - World's First Bitcoin Savings Account on: June 19, 2015, 09:04:13 AM
Capco seems to be a company that does a lot with banking and the like, but I can't find any references to Btc.Sx or Magnr on their website. Strange.

They kindly have let us operate out of their space by their BoldRocket CEO.

We are open to visits if you email us in our support centre. Lets make this happen Smiley

*edit* the remit of BoldRocket is to revolutionise the banking industry. They are essentially the innovation arm of Capco.
82  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Magnr - World's First Bitcoin Savings Account on: June 17, 2015, 02:29:45 PM
Yes. As stated for the third time, the interest comes from the trading fees Cheesy
Well, it's not explicitly stated in the OP that you use trading fees, just that the interest rate differs based on the activity of your exchange, so I kinda get the confusion. It is explicitly stated on your website, but not everything reads that.

Anyway, this seems pretty cool and I might give it a shot.

Hi its Joe here, founder of BTC.sx.

Our intention is to make this as transparent as possible. On-blockchain calculations for deposit and interest calculations are part of the way we are doing this.

By offering this service our goal is to build more reputable financial services for Bitcoin. My hope is that this is just the beginning of a much wider movement.
83  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 01, 2015, 10:23:50 AM
why don't you just give up? it's easier for all of us. let it go. you don't need to go through all this pain. dismiss btc and you will get back your life. you have been wrong - but it's never too late to correct a mistake. you are a precious human being. you deserve love. SELL NOW

Rofl...

Back on OP: There hasn't been much macro economic news that would drive price movement lately. Mondays are the big press days if a bitcoin company can get into the mainstream media. Without any big named coverage, price will continue to stagnate.
84  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Coinbase Trading Volume on: February 12, 2015, 12:15:05 PM
Hey BitcoinTalk,

To get a comparison of market size, I've always used BitcoinCharts to compare how well the exchanges are doing as well as the wider market. Being new to the game, coin base is not yet listed.

http://bitcoincharts.com/markets/currency/USD.html

Does anyone have a daily breakdown of how much trading volume they do in comparison to the other exchanges? To me it roughly looks like they're currently #3 behind Bitfinex and Bitstamp and quickly rising. Would be good to get some solid figures to back this up though.

Isn't asking for upvotes against the rules?

Yes it is, for self promoting your own specific targeted posts. I'm making a case for our community who are advocates of bitcoin to upvote bitcoin related content for the purpose of helping the crypto space gain more visibility.

To that merit, what are people's own 'upvote' policies?
86  Other / Off-topic / Re: Any HackerNews [HN] visitors on the forum? on: November 21, 2014, 05:19:06 PM
I read it fairly regularly but don't vote/comment there a lot. I do more on the /r/bitcoin sub-reddit. That said, I like HN better in a lot of cases.

Casual upvotes always help the cause!
87  Other / Off-topic / Any HackerNews [HN] visitors on the forum? on: November 21, 2014, 03:32:59 PM
Hello Bitcointalk,

I wanted to ask the community if there are any Hacker News visitors on the forum.

See:
http://hackerne.ws/
or
https://news.ycombinator.com/

For those who don't know what Hacker News is, "Hacker News is a social news website that caters to programmers and entrepreneurs, delivering content related to computer science and entrepreneurship." (shamelessly copied from wikipedia) It was created by Paul Graham, one of the founders of Y Combinator, one of the most successful startup incubators in the valley.

I'd like to ask the community here that if you frequent hacker news, to upvote anything that mentions Cryptocurrencies or Bitcoin.

Why? Ultimately we all have the aligned interest in helping the adoption of cryptocurrencies and anything we can do to increase its visibility amongst the tech devs, entrepreneurs and VC investors is going to help!

88  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: ---> BTC.sx <--- Bitcoin Trading Platform on: November 11, 2014, 09:36:43 PM
Is Seal still the operator of this site?
Yes he is still co-founder and CEO.

Could you get him to post here just to clear this up? Thanks! Is this account the official representative for btc.sx now?
Yes I have just sent Joe a message on Skype.  He is not in the office right now (it is late here in the UK), so he may not post until the morning.

This is the official account for BTC.sx now.  As we have grown, it is no longer practical to continue to ask Joe (Seal) to post things from his personal account.  It is much easier and professional to use one company-wide account that is accessible to everyone on the team.

Hi marcotheminer and everyone else, I'm here! Yes I can verify that BTC.sx on Bitcointalk is an official account!

I'd like to first acknowledge the community as our startup's growth has skyrocketed since its original launch was announced on Bitcointalk. We then ran one of the longest running signature campaigns on the forum which gave me the chance to give bitcoins to new members of the community looking to get their first bitcoins though signature advertising schemes. Although the schemes have now ended, I'm proud to have had the chance to give back.

In reality, this forum is a resource which is incredibly valuable to me especially when I was considering what Bitcoin startup to create. Through these posts I'd like to keep the community informed of our progress as we work towards improving Bitcoin's growing ecosystem and share our startup's journey along the way.

P.s. A lot of people still ask me about the trading bots I used to run which are covered on Coindesk's article here: http://www.coindesk.com/how-to-trade-bitcoins-bot-software-sleep/
FYI, I learned a lot of the techniques from the contents of this forum and even shared some of its inner workings on here too Smiley. I no longer run them but I'm happy to answer questions about them for the curious.

94  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: compare to laketrader and btc.sx on: October 07, 2014, 02:50:38 PM
To answer your question, Btc.sx is a bitcoin only trading platform. You can go long and short with leverage with a bitcoin deposit. This is built to be the equivalent of an FX trading platform such as E-Trade.

LakeTrader on the other hand is an exchange. Send fiat, buy bitcoins. Send bitcoins, buy USD.

Trading view is a charting provider.

Hope that helps. Happy trading!

*Disclosure: I work for Btc.sx*
95  Economy / Service Announcements / Btc.sx - Introducing our Revenue Sharing Referrals Scheme on: October 07, 2014, 02:36:59 PM
Hi Bitcointalk,

Over the past few months we've had a very welcomed response from the community. At the conferences we've been to, our customers talk about recommending our trading platform to their friends. We're both encouraged and motivated by this as not only does it help us grow as a company but it helps from a marketing perspective.

Because of this we developed a referrals system so that anybody recommending their friends or family would be rewarded generously for doing so. This is our way of saying thanks.

To find out more, check below:
https://support.btc.sx/hc/en-gb/articles/201468412-Earn-Bitcoin-Rewards-Referrals-System

From our user dashboard:

20% of all revenues generated by traders referred will be paid directly back to the referrer.

96  Economy / Services / Re: Btc.sx Affiliate Scheme on: September 09, 2014, 09:10:56 AM
Hi seal i might join up too but would a member like me successful :Huh

Sure give it a go. Note that this is not a formal 'signature scheme' like the others but instead depends on referrals. If forum members are asking about trading platforms and you recommend us, make sure you recommend us using your referral link and you will get paid!

I believe this does not conflict with other schemes who ask for exclusivity when displaying only one 'paid signature'.

And once again, as I can't emphasise this enough, if your username is seal. Your link should look like this: https://btc.sx/?r=bct_seal. That way I can track referrals accurately and make sure everybody is paid their fair share!
97  Economy / Services / Re: Btc.sx Affiliate Scheme on: September 09, 2014, 09:07:34 AM
With every referral will receive a referral award or sentence that I will discuss in ?
Any one can help ?
Try to contact OP he will guide you about this very good send him pm about your requirement

Hey there btc_investment, with every active referral (i.e. they have to sign up and have placed a trade), I will pay out.

As a wider announcement, can everybody make sure that they have the correct url. I've already seen referral signups under the username/url: https://btc.sx/?r=bct_USERNAME. If that is you, I have no way of attributing the referral to your bitcointalk username.
98  Economy / Services / Re: [BTC.sx] Get paid for your signature on: September 08, 2014, 03:44:48 PM
For those of you who took part in our paid signature scheme in the past, I'd like to draw your attention to our new affiliate scheme:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=774795.0

Happy posting.
99  Economy / Services / Btc.sx Affiliate Scheme on: September 08, 2014, 03:43:44 PM
Hi Bitcointalk, back in 2013 I ran one of the forums longest running paid signature schemes which ended up paying out $8,000.(check it out here). We're back with a new affiliate scheme.

For those of you who would like to help promote bitcoin trading at Btc.sx:

For each user you refer to Btc.sx that places a trade, we'll reward you with $5

To take part please leave a comment confirming your attendance along with your bitcoin address.

Referral URLs will be as follows, please add your username following the format below:

https://btc.sx/?r=bct_USERNAME

So my url for example would be, https://btc.sx/?r=bct_seal

We will be able to track sign-ups and trades through these custom URL's so make sure you use them correctly... i.e., don't put someone elses name on it if you want to be paid! If a user clicks on that link and registers a couple of days later, it'll still remember you as the referrer (through a cookie), this remains valid for 2 weeks. Its time for you as a community to get creative. I'm hoping to be able to pay out as generously as before for those who help promote our site. I'll be posting weekly stats so check back.

Terms
  • Users with a minimum of 50 posts.
  • Please don't troll our link out.
  • Payouts will be made on a weekly basis in Bitcoin.
  • Members with a negative trust are not allowed to take part.
  • I reserve the right to withhold payments from users who are seen to exploit the scheme.

For those of you who advertised with us before and would like to use your signature to promote the Btc.sx affiliate scheme, feel free to use one of our pre-made signatures. Don't forget to put your username in the url field.

100  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading with Bitcoin on: September 08, 2014, 10:25:13 AM
Btc.sx is an FX style trading platform that we run. It runs from a broker model and executes orders out to market via BitStamp for settlement. It allows leveraged trading without the complexity of margin trading and the management of margin.
It sounds a lot like you are just using the bitstamp API to send orders to bitstamp. Why couldn't your customers work directly with bitstamp?

Thats pretty much what we do. The main offering over sending customers directly to bitstamp is leverage. Second of all we allow people to go Long with bitcoin instead of requiring USD (and the associated delay and hassle of getting it onto the exchange)
