81  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: KYE (Know Your Exchange): BitFloor on: August 02, 2012, 01:51:08 PM
Shtylman, what is your relationship with Bruce Wagner? Does Bruce Wagner have any vested interest in Bitfloor Inc.?

If you believe the leaked emails, Mr Tihan Seale is the one who suggests using customers’ deposits for company’s expenses in the first place.

Mr Tihan Seale, do you collect Chinese relics?

Hmm.... I was under the impression that Intersango or Bitcoin Consultancy LLC was only a shareholder of Bitcoinica?

Honestly, it all sounds like Intersango got scammed!!!

According to the exchange of shares and interest agreement leaked which was leaked, Amir, Patrick and Donald obtained a combined interest of 25% in Bitcoinica LP in exchange for Wendon receiving 250 shares (out of 1000 uncalled shares which were issued as part of the deal) in Intersango.  We don't know whether they contributed any capital to the partnership, but general partners very often don't or contribute only a token amount.

LOL, so not only did Bitcoin Consultancy LLC get scammed they also lost 250 shares of Intersango Ltd? Did they at least get a reach around?  Cheesy

This whole mess is even more interesting than the Tradehill-Dwolla fraud.

86  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitparking Litecoin Exchange on: August 01, 2012, 03:17:37 PM
Can we use out BTC balance on the Namecoin exchange for trades on the Litecoin exchange? or are these 2 completely separate accounts and would need to transfer BTCs back and forth?

Chase & Wells Fargo? very nice!
88  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitparking Litecoin Exchange on: July 31, 2012, 11:54:03 PM
I've never considered messing around with Litecoins but now I'm getting interested, mostly because I like the BitParking Namecoin Exchange. Great customer service from DoubleC, my only complaint is that the NMC/BTC instead of BTC/NMC quote makes it a little confusing for dummies like me.  Smiley

LMAO!!! These guys are hilarious!

Some comments about the BTC-e hack:

"Fairly certain that bitcoin supporters would view the vaguest hint of competence as a sure sign that the exchange is run by the "system" and cannot be trusted. Surely better to trust hopeless morons that do not have the faintest idea what they're doing, that way you can be sure the gov'nment is not trying to get in on the precious bitcoin racket. " - NtotheTC Jul 31, 2012 08:52 Post

"I was a bit surprised to see that people were pumping bitcoins into an exchange that was actively being hacked right now, but clearly I shouldn't have been. There seem to be no depths of stupidity that these people won't stoop to. " - Qwertycoatl Jul 31, 2012 08:05 Post

and the Bitcoinica hack:

"If Zhou posts a picture of the hacker, and it's just himself with a huge fake moustache, he might become my favourite internet person ever. " - Dex    Jul 30, 2012 00:25 Post

Hmm... I'm still a bit confused.
All that noise and only 4500 BTC were stolen?!  Cheesy
I'm guessing LTC and NMC withdrawals were capped as well?

91  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BTC-e Hacked by Russians!! Price hits $60/BTC!!! on: July 31, 2012, 05:08:16 AM
I believe the U.S. Secret Service only gets involved when the physical paper currencies are involved. So say, someone is printing counterfeit Greenbacks in their basement, stuffing them into envelopes and mailing them out to purchase bitcoins from unsuspecting forum users.

Eventually, those counterfeits will provide the agents a nice collection of fingerprints and DNA to start busting down doors.
92  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: HOLY SHIT BTC-E.COM hit $40 per BTC! on: July 31, 2012, 04:36:25 AM
Has anyone been thinking.. That MAYBE this is REAL? Think about it, It is possible someone threw a million dollars onto btc-e from LR and fucked up the market. MAYBE YOU COULD SELL YOUR COINS FOR $60 RIGHT NOW.

Not a remote chance imo because:
1. Millionaires don't become millionaires by paying 5x-10x more than something is worth.
2. A millionaire wouldn't use any unknown random site hosted on a cloud to handle his/her finances.
3. There are way better methods to launder money without making a scene.

 Cheesy
93  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: HOLY SHIT BTC-E.COM hit $40 per BTC! on: July 31, 2012, 03:33:27 AM
Which payment processors and exchanges accept BTC-e codes?
94  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: HOLY SHIT BTC-E.COM hit $40 per BTC! on: July 31, 2012, 02:33:11 AM
Assuming the chat image pasted earlier was the real hacker comments, then the entire database is going to get purged. So if BTC-e didn't back up regularly, this is going to burn a ton of people.

95  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: HOLY SHIT BTC-E.COM hit $40 per BTC! on: July 31, 2012, 01:35:44 AM
... a hacker found a way to fill sell orders without actually having any USD..

This is a very good possibility.

Hopefully, none of the GLBSE companies have their funds at BTC-e.
96  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: HOLY SHIT BTC-E.COM hit $40 per BTC! on: July 31, 2012, 01:02:43 AM

BUY ALERT!!!
Those who sold @ 40 now have $$$ and are going to want to buy a TON OF BTC now to get their money out of the exchange easier

Can we then conclude that these massive amounts of BTC will then make their way to other exchanges for the cash out, thus causing those prices to fall?

I would say, yes (mixing service first though).

This is not going to end well for BTC-e.  Sad
97  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: HOLY SHIT BTC-E.COM hit $40 per BTC! on: July 31, 2012, 12:53:49 AM
I just deposited 20BTC to sell at these ridiculous prices. I think the strategy here is to deposit no more than you're willing to lose!

Good luck getting USD out of there.  Wink

LOL! "Volume: 1561830 USD / 51159.8 BTC"

Might be a good idea to withdraw your funds before the lockdown!!! Just saying...
99  Other / Off-topic / Re: So I've got this bridge to sell on: July 30, 2012, 12:08:02 AM
A question;

what is the annual maintenance cost on that Brooklyn bridge you have for sale?
It's really nothing compared to the amount it brings in. Besides, we've finished the $508 million project to rehabilitate the approach ramps to the Brooklyn Bridge, so you're really getting an amazing deal at $420M.

How much does this bridge have in annual revenues? The exact number isn't necessary because we wouldn't want you to reveal trade secrets but are revenues comparable to the Holland Tunnel?

By the way, will you accept PayPal?

I'm more concerned how long the Bitcoin itself (and the its core development team) can survive serving two masters. I see a quite clear split in the community of Bitcoin users into the pro-law and pro-anarchy camps.

I can see the clear split as well but both camps can use bitcoin as-is in perfect harmony. I believe the money exchangers can't serve both camps though and ,as with any other business, the bottom line may force them decide. As time goes by, the two models will probably be
  • Compliant, High volume, Small profit margins, Large business
  • Incompliant, Low volume, Large profit margins, Small business

Btw, what is your relationship and/or vested interest in Camp BX?
