81  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do you continue to support r/bitcoin and bitcointalk.com on: September 14, 2015, 09:46:18 PM
I understand there is a lack of alternatives, and there is not a better place for up to date information.

But, in the light of Bitcoin and what it represents, neither of these platforms promote the same ideologies.

Unless you can find a forum that is decentralized I'm not sure how you could have one that promotes the same ideologies. Bitcointalk is currently the best place and its hardly run by nazis though people complain whenever their thread gets moved into the correct section. Personally I wouldn't change unless a clear superior forum came about.

I now have negative feedback due to this post. Apparently I am an account farmer, which is basically as far as you could get from reality.  In this post I suggested I have made multiple REDDIT accounts in the past, which now is reflecting upon my trust here negatively.  If you decide to look, you can also note that the account who has left the negative feedback is immune from negative feedback, I ask you to give it a shot.  visit the account that provided negative feedback due to misreading this post, and try to leave negative feedback, it brings you to an INVALID url.  It;s kind of ironic that after this post my account is now hindered with negative feedback, on a clearly flawed system that represents nothing but what I assume to be theymos. Whether it is or it isn't, the trust system here is botched, and so is the communication element for a decentralized system when theymos owns it.  It's too bad that you cannot voice an opinion without the friendly forum host here basically wrecking your account based on nothing. have a great day.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=261027 Suggests I am an account farmer. #1, no idea what that is. #2, probably not an account farmer as I have 1 account on here.  #3, he read my old post and suggested that I was farming accounts because he MISREAD that I stated I have a few reddit accounts. #4, this place is just as shitty as r/bitcoin clearly he is a. theymos or b. riding theymos c. I won't be back to this shit ass forum. It's ironic to wreck peoples trust for literally 0 reasoning behind it.  e. - Try to give that account negative feedback, it is somehow weirdly impossible because it is an invalid url.

Good to know about this. Or should I say "aboot"
No actually, it's "about" I've lived all my life in Canada and never once heard a single person say it that way. It's a fiction that some American made up and I don't know why, there's plenty of actual true things that Canadians do that they could make fun of.
Anyhizzle, I like that Voat sub. It gives me reason to join Voat. Thanks for pointing it oot  Grin

EH?

Haha thanks for the message, that was awesome.  Glad you joined Voat, it's a pretty cool place, although I think they have some upgrades still, the site is looking very awesome. I will do my best to keep a current circulation of up to date happenings in Canada.

Yes girls use Bitcoin. Vending machine selling tampons for Bitcoin.

/thread

This machine is working with bitcoin? or there are any machine like that can work with bitcoin? Can it be possible?

Yes it works with Bitcoin and no their were only women using it to buy vagina stuffers not their boyfriends. It was at porcfest.

Their, there and they're. C'mon man. You are legendary and can't the one right for the situation?  How many times a day do you use these words, and how can anyone take your comments seriously if you cannot figure 1 / 3 words probably used at least 10 times a day. Figure it out.

Cypherdoc? Is that you? No one wants to use your forum dude. Give it up.

Cypherdoc? Not I.  I actually run enjoybitcoins.com, and came here to post a question and gauge the communities response. But I enjoy that you fit right in with the people around here who can see through a computer... Pretty insane skill, seem tuned right in #LOL.  You might need a tune up boss.  Grin

But, in the light of Bitcoin and what it represents, neither of these platforms promote the same ideologies.

What do you think Bitcoin represents? It is impossible to understand your argument if you don't clarify this.

I have thought of leaving the forum because of the numerous garbage and troll posts that appeared in the last couple of years, but not because of ideological reasons.

Consensus, decentralization and innovation.  All of which rely on discussion and debate in an open unbias environment to produce effective results and work in a positive direction.

I have been a miner since 2011 and I find the Mining and Technical discussion sections very informative. This is why I continue to visit this forum. You can't find the wealth of information that you can find here elsewhere.

As for the Bitcoin Discussion section, to be honest, I consider it to be mostly chit-chat and not to be taken seriously anymore these days. For technical reasons, I am against BIP101, so maybe I am don't feel the alleged censorship as others who are for this BIP might.

Cool to note.  I can definitely see where you are coming from on those topics, not my forte, but seems like the right place to be learning.
88  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do you continue to support r/bitcoin and bitcointalk.com on: September 08, 2015, 02:07:48 AM
...

I'm OK w/ bitcointalk.org.  I don't like reddit, but that's just me.  I found my way here as a beginner back in the days when blockchain.info linked to threads here.  I wonder why they stopped that?

I like the format here too vs. reddit.  It's a little easier to explore topics at some length vs. reddit.

Fair enough, thanks for the reply!
89  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do you continue to support r/bitcoin and bitcointalk.com on: September 08, 2015, 02:06:18 AM
I believe that if we have 1 main forum, everyone will see no point in making another because they will loose all of their stats and posts.

But, if you don't like it, make your own forum. No one is stopping you.

My thread is clearly a question to hear others thoughts on the subject.  At what point in my post did I suggest I wasn't going to, wasn't capable of or had intention of creating one. Didn't simply asked for peoples feelings on the subject as you would do in a forum of discussion on a topic no? eat a dick.

What would it take? What are your favorite alternatives?  And 170,000 odd subscribers, what # do you estimates is multiple user accounts (I personally have about 8 of those) and active Bitcoiners?

They've been shitting on the altcoin section for years. I don't think anyone there likes the mods

Ok now it's going down, I've been a Bitcoin advocate for over 4 years and I and a lot of other enthusiasts aren't aloud to discuss Bitcoin on this forum any longer. The gold collapsing Bitcoin up thread has been moved to the altcoin section and subsequently locked. The argument from central control is we're debating about Altcoins.

This is an attempt to squish intellectual debate on the future of Bitcoin. Very sad that.

This thread was once posted on the Speculation board, right? Shit hits the fan. What's happening around the bitcoin ecosystem? Huh

Yes it was in Bitcoin/economics/speculation.

The discussion topical ot the relative board.

Ironically it was quit hostile to altcoins so funny to see it there.

Yes this is rather underhanded.

I see now why is this moved to altcoin, mainly because of the XT-posts on that thread. Majority of the last pages of the thread were about XT discusson. Mods and other users here regard XT as an altcoin that's why it was sent there.

XT is not an altcoin it's an an implementation of bitcoin and currently supports 10% of the bitcoin tragic, the discussion is not about XT per se, it's about support for the bitcoin network and all nodes that have the equivalent of BIP 101. just happens XT is the only implementation.

What is being censored is what we are discussing and that is the use of central control to mitigate the problems of central control that is threatening Bitcoin, XT is the only viable option to mitigate that at this time.

I agree they may have a branding problem with their client, not sure if it's intentional or not.

I haven't decided my stance on that whole discussion.  But the way it's been handled is biasing the debate, as well preventing innovation.  It's contradictory to everything that Bitcoin is about.

Oh Please, do not be a drama queen. State your case here, and we can discuss it. Why were you banned from the
r\Bitcoin  Huh
I have been banned from several sub-reddits before for promoting Bitcoin and I am still around doing my thing.
It's one thing promoting a concept, but there are general rules and if you do not adhere to it, you will get banned.

The Bitcoin XT people are flooding r\Bitcoin with their propaganda now and it's getting annoying now, so the mods most probably banned people who brigade the sub with Bitcoin XT stuff to make a point.

Speak your mind, but do not force yourself and your opinion onto other people. They will decide on their own, which client they want to run.

Who's being forced?  Posted a thread with my opinion, feel free to comment again and bump it, glad to speak my mind.

Reddit is a cultural Marxist community, what did you expect?  It's the same thing as Twitter and Facebook, corporate/globalist, new world order, yada yada crap.  The second you see groups like Fox and CNN promoting a piece of technology, you know it's going to be compromised, or designed for population control or spying.

Umm, the same guy who is filtering r/bitcoin is the one who owns this place =)  So, I feel in some cases, that comment is kind of hypocritical.
This is truth. Theymos is the admin of bitcointalk and also a main mod on r/bitcoin. Let me guess, you were banned for discussing bitcoin core vs. bitcoin xt maybe?
EDIT: Ah I see you werent. So what got you banned for if I may ask? It is quite important to have whole picture of situation here.

The best part is I wasn't.... have never added a post to that discussion, because I feel my technical skills are not enough to weigh in.  I shared a post titled "24 alternative forums and chats for Bitcoin discussion"

It was followed by a ban, then followed by a message that apologized for the ban, that I was now going to be unbanned in 3 days.  I will not be back, and will be promoting other mediums of discussion in the future. It' a shame... But perhaps the biggest shame is the fact that bitcoin relies on consensus.... To achieve consensus a community needs to have un bias discussion... There is going to be spammers, FUD, bullshit and all sorts of shit. but without seeing the shit, there is a HUGE bias within ANY debate.  As far as I am concerned, the discussion on reddit about all the latest topics including the blocksize, fork and xt client is basically useless, as there has clearly been a bias in the articles that have been filtered and without seeing both sides, the consensus is manipulated, or basically a false representation as all parties have not been able to voice opinion without a subjective approval.  r/bitcoin is basically useless in terms of quality discussion and moving in a positive direction that doesn't directly contrast with what Bitcoin stands for.
95  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Theymos now controls the r/Bitcoin subreddit. on: August 17, 2015, 03:03:44 AM
Distribution of power is needed. It is needed in bitcoin's development and it is needed in it's communities. We can't have 3 people (Gavin, Hern & Theymos) running everything. This is why I am more towards core (more developers), and I do support a blocksize increase but not the way Gavin and Hearn are trying to do it. Theymos should hand off r/bitcoin to someone else for the good of bitcoin. He'll still have bitcointalk, which is way cooler than reddit anyways  Cool
That's the way I think most of this site thinks, we need a blocksize increase, but XT is awful and we CANNOT adopt it.

But how can we even move forward with the block size now that we can be sure that the discussion was clearly bias.  I mean, perhaps not to one side or the other, but when there is a filter on all the content, you can be sure that some sides of the debate have the short end of the stick.  all consensus is based of discussion and debate,a nd without a platform to be sure that everyone is heard, it's tough to make a judgement call on a debate.  Communication is #1 for progression in Bitcoin, and there is clearly a central flaw in the current mediums for it.
96  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Theymos now controls the r/Bitcoin subreddit. on: August 17, 2015, 03:01:39 AM
I also think that theymos should not be the mod, not because he might not be fit, I don't care to discuss opinions on that, but just because he already controls this website.

Theymos controls Bitcoin discussion.  People are scared about mining, developer centralization?  What about the community discussion? The place we come to the conclusions that effect everything.  Realize in a consensus based economy, communication is #1.... So centralization of ANY other aspect of Bitcoin stems directly down from the places people are using to build opinions and voice concerns.  Communication is everything, and if it's going to be filtered, future consensus is already fucked.

Truly a shame at best what is happening here as we speak.

Exactly. I just hope people will migrate to other platforms so it will decentralize discussions once and for all.
The scary part is that I highly doubt that's going to happen. This place has been THE place for all discussion, *maybe* the subreddit.

Well, people are unsubscribing in mass right now. It never happened before.

Almost down 100 in the hour.  But I agree, we need people to start posting elsewhere as opposed to just unsubbing.  Times like these I wish I could code.  Bitcoin discussion needs a new platform with a more versatile voting system that can self regulate somehow.  Votes need to have substance behind them, ie. downvote upvote requires reasoning.

Hmm, seems this whole thing could have been avoided if everyone decided to quit being drama queens at let the upvote and downvote system do its thing.

right?  What ever happened to the votes.... They seem as though nobody cares they exist anymore.

If there is one thing that can change, is someone can work on a smart platform that self moderates, requires basis or adds substance to up and down votes by requiring a comment, or something. Today i realized a HUGE issue.  As long as the main communication platforms are running under the guise of 1 individual there will continue to be  a bias, and conversation will be filtered. That is in complete contrast with concencus and how Bitcoin will function, soooo not sure what to do here. not a programmer, or anything, but Bitcoin needs new discussion platform

i must to agree, this is gonna lead to the admin abuse there.
that place was supposed not to be for the arbitrary, but today, they just wished only the posts that satisfied them, in fact the rules is not stated that.
just like what china just did to hong kong, that's ridiculous.
i guess the bitcoin forum is declining due to the matter of bitcoin XT, IIRC.

It's just too bad.  Have spent a lot of time on there.  And it's sad to see it go down the drain in less than a week.  Very frustrated.  Not to mention, we shared 0 posts that were against the rules or even remotely discussed Bitcoin XT.
