81  Economy / Services / Re: Looking for a Logo on: February 11, 2014, 03:26:32 AM
Do you have an example?

Maybe the abbreviation SC, I'll get you a few more mockups!

I generally want to avoid having letters in it if possible.  But maybe make the cpu more abstract and possibly something else inside it like a brain/lightbulb/something sciency/geeky/etc.  I want it to be something that is unique without words/letters.
82  Economy / Services / Re: Looking for a Logo on: February 11, 2014, 02:57:37 AM
Like the CPU one? Cheesy

Oh hey, I missed that you added the new colors.  I do like the idea but it might need a bit more than just the cpu.  I want it to be able to stand alone without the word SERPCO and still be unique.

Several people have submitted ideas from outside this thread.  I just want to state that it isn't a requirement to post your ideas in here but that I will need to post the winning design and who the winner is in this thread at the end.  I'll also try and be forthcoming with what my favorite ideas are the next couple days as that is only fair to everyone.

The ones I like the best seem to be an abstract shape/design that then incorporates something into it such as a brain, light bulb, flask, etc.

I am also adding two gifts of 0.02 each to the 2nd and 3rd place designs.  These will be gifts with no ownership transfer.

Hey guys, I appreciate you all have opinions on this stuff but please don't divert this thread especially if it is negative.  I am not new to hiring designers.  I chose this open format on a bitcoin forum for this brand for a reason.

Thank you for understanding.
85  Economy / Services / Re: Looking for a Logo on: February 10, 2014, 09:47:13 PM
Since it is branding what you want.
This is my entry, I hope you like it. (A signature like logo)

Hey gogodr.  Thanks for the entry but I am hoping for a symbol that can stand on it's own either with or without words.
86  Economy / Services / Re: Looking for a Logo on: February 10, 2014, 09:45:02 PM
First mockup, let me know what you think!

Full res transparent + white bg here, https://db.tt/zUz2EnIs

Let me know what you think about the colors and such.

This is interesting.  I like the simplistic nature of it.  Maybe if the box was colored in black or dark gray and the cpu design in it was white.  My only knock here would be the computer nature of it but that is probably ok because even most of future woodwork designs will likely involve some laser cutting or cnc.  I'm wondering if it would stand on it's own without the words though.

SERPCO, does it have a meaning behind?
is the CO from corporation? or stands for anything at all?
What do you want to portray with the logo?
What kind of activities do you intend to represent with that logo?
Maybe you don't want it to represent anything and want to build a brand out of it?

-Just a couple of questions that could really help before starting to work on it.

Hey gogodr.  Those are good questions.  I do not want it to represent any one thing.  I'd like for it to be just a generic brand for me to use on anything I do.  I understand this poses a challenge.

If you are interested you can contact me Smiley I have done a logotype for you in the past. If you want to check my most recent work check my flickr:

Hey likehiro, I remember working with you and I do like your designs.  I have committed to this open format for this logo but would love to see your ideas for it.
89  Economy / Services / Looking for a Logo - 0.1 btc + money for 2nd/3rd - [done] on: February 10, 2014, 05:16:16 PM
SERPCO is a name I use when monetizing my free time.
This has been everything from software development to creative writing to woodworking.
I would like a logo that I can use for a website, business cards, and engraved on products.

Things I'm looking for are:
 - Original design with no stock photography.
 - Minimal design
 - Design can stand on it's own without words.
 - I would prefer to have the file in SVG format.

I'm open to anything but something related to science, math, tech, maker, labs appeal to me.

I will pay 0.1 BTC for a design I use.  If for some reason I do not get a logo I would like to use by Friday (2/14/2014), I will gift 0.05 BTC to the design I like best with no transfer of ownership.  I don't expect this to be the case but I want to add some guarantee to attract interest.

*edit*
I am also adding two gifts of 0.02 each to the 2nd and 3rd place designs.  These will be gifts with no ownership transfer.

*edit*

I have been asked to give more guidance so I will give 2 ideas I'd love to see.

  - A light bulb with a Bohr's Atom model inside it.
  - A shield with circuits on it like a circuit board.

I've said this a few times before but I'd like the end design to be minimal with flat textures and in a vector format.

Sweet! The gold plating sounds great, what base metal though? The recess is a great addition BC for v1 one can see the hologram quite obviously below (which is good and bad I guess =D ).

The base metal will be a zinc alloy like the first ones.

You doing larger sized this time?

There were 500 of DIY.
There will be 1000 of DIY2.
Dimensions of the coin are the same but DIY2 will be gold plated and have a recess in the back for the private key tab.

Noticed that someone is now selling these loaded on eBay.

Great.  I hope to see more of it Smiley

May move these into this thread too if that's ok when I get a mo.

Sure, that's fine.
95  Economy / Collectibles / Re: List of physical cryptocurrencys and the mints who issue them on: January 09, 2014, 07:46:23 PM
Great. That's enough to make the list.

Can you give me a detailed breakdown of each edition you've minted with numbers for each and rough dates if you have them. Even better links to photos of each different edition if possible.

I'm planning to put some photos up for people to see the different types of physical crypto out there.

The only coin I've fully designed so far is the DIY quarter bitcoin which are labeled 2014 and went on sale December 17, 2013.
The previous editions were aluminum casascius coins that I loaded.

Hey No_2, I got your message.

I made the physical quarter bitcoins pictured at http://serpco.in/#diy
Some software to help people fund the coins themselves is at https://github.com/jondale/serpcoin
Only 500 of these were minted.

Websites down?

where'd you go? Smiley

Is it down for you?  It's working for me.  The logs aren't showing any interruptions in traffic.
99  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Do it Yourself - Physical Bitcoin on: December 29, 2013, 03:22:38 PM
Thanks for reviewing the code Todamont.  The key generation code is largely based off the code on the bitcoin wiki just changed to use more cryto safe randoms and a few minor other changes to make it work with the scripts.

Also I agree with others here.. I cannot suggest ever printing your private keys on a publicly available printer.  Personally, I don't want to print them even on a printer that is connected to a network even.

I believe I've caught up with everyone now and I'm sold out of coins.  I still have sheets of holograms.
