Is there a tipbot for DASH?

Not that I know, but several people have asked for it lately. If someone has the skills, it's time to set it up!!

This stinks to scam. I asked for more info on the Dash thread and the user never replied. If it is too good to be true, it usually isn't. Be careful and do your research before placing an order.

People need to be careful to the extreme. If all the energy some crypto people put into scamming were applied to productive endeavours, we'd already have flying cars.

But we do fernando, we do....

LOL

I guess scammers should go back to scamming then, no flying cars to design!

Hmmmm dashpays........

Brand new account..... giving away ipads.... offering $6 per dash...

...asking for donation for volunteers (of what ostensibly appears to be commercial venture) What could possibly go wrong??

5000 dash sent   Cool

(let me know if they deserve more)

Quote
What could possibly go wrong??

Probably no more than the guy on DCT earlier today that sent 340 Dash to some online wallet at http://www.dash-wallet.com/ none of us have ever heard of (note it's not even a 'https' site but has a login facility on the front page....very dodgy) and was having trouble getting his coins back. He then mysteriously deleted his DCT posts, most likely from embarrassment.

Caveat emptor with all of these new sites.

People need to be careful to the extreme. If all the energy some crypto people put into scamming were applied to productive endeavours, we'd already have flying cars.

Having said that, I would love to know more about the store. It sounds too good to be true, but there could be an explanation. Discounted exchange rate could cancel out with very high prices, for example. I don't want to rule out everyone out of fear, but I want info so I can do my research.
87  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Introducing Dashpays webshop - The future to technology on: April 04, 2015, 12:39:09 PM
Really cool shop!

I hope this doesn't come out the wrong way, but I would like to know more about you and your security measures.

The shop looks amazing, but you post from an account with zero history and run that promotion to rush people into orders. If you add the ipad to the subsidized exchange rate, you are basically giving for free the first three orders and then keep a really deep discount with the exchange rate. Businesses do this all the time to get volume and PR, it is not intrinsically bad, but this is crypto and there are very few free rides over here.

Do you use any kind of escrow or multisig arrangement?

Where do you ship/invoice from?

Currently reading "The Devil's Dream: Book 1" in which the main character comments about how easy it is to buy things anonymously with bitcoin.

The very first time I ever read about bitcoin, literally my first thought was "everything you do is tracked in a ledger...that doesn't sound very anonymous to me." It's not that hard to comprehend!

When are people going to get past this misconception? Somebody should ask Russ Ulbricht if bitcoin is anonymous.

Exactly! I guess it will take a few massive incidents of someone tracking a lot of funds for people to realize.

Tungfa, Alexy and Raico are doing a tremendous work helping victims of a few crypto ponzi scams in China and today I have been quoted by the South China Morning Post talking about that and how little governments can really do to regulate the crypto space:

Good work Fernando

Thanks, but it is really Tungfa, Raico and Alexy. You'd be amazed at the amount of hours they are putting into helping and educating people about the ponzis they have detected over there.

Darkcoin: https://www.dashpay.io/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/DarkcoinWhitepaper.pdf
InstantX: https://www.dashpay.io/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/InstantTX.pdf

https://www.dashpay.io/news/open-source-announcement-and-future-plans/

Hasrate: https://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/hashrate-DASH.html
Difficulty: https://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/difficulty-DASH.html

The sync is really fast compared to other coins!

Lots of nodes thats why Wink

Its still a bit slow for my liking...I seem to remember reading something about a potential improvement to sync speeds in the future.  Sadly I can't remember specifically what the proposal was.

You mean the abbreviation of the blockchain? if that, masternodes will create a second blockchain that will abbreviate A to B to C to D into A to D. Full blockchain available too, but for most clients the abbreviated one will be enough. Being much smaller sync will be dashing fast!

Gracias, ya he avisado!

Big Story in China ....

Thanks Tungfa. b.t.w. what does "MLM" refer to ?

I'm guessing it means the same as what MLM usually means - Multi Level Marketing. Reading the Google translated article it's hard to derive the context of why MLM is mentioned but MLMs are huge business in China (as they are in any new market where people haven't yet wised up to the pyramid nature of how they work) and the article's mentioning MLM banners and scams. I'd reckon MLMs are right up there as some of the dodgiest things people can get involved in in China so that's probably how they're referring to it in relation to these fake Darkcoin sites.

Correct
we + BTC have a huge problem with
Pyramide / Ponzi Schemes in Hk and mainland China !
Honestly it is out of control !

they are pretending to sell DRK - Dash on their webpages, but
- their "coins" only work on their system (NOT in our wallets)
- their price is now 20 US$ + per coin
- they promise 40-50% return + a Mercedes Benz when you bring more customers !
 Wink
Gambling in china is illegal, so everybody invests, as that is the closest to it !
We are pushing hard into china for DRK - Dash (multiple Social Media Pages) + pushing hard against these scammers !
We are making official enemies over there !!
We erased 27 'fake' accounts on DCT the other day (all coming from the same person in HK, connected to the the scammers)
the QQ Group in china is doing all the groundwork, fighting the scammers head on, and educating real life victims (horrible stories) !

Dash official is planning a Chinese Language Page in HK (for china) in Mandarine (to be more accessible)
+ more Chinese Social Media Pages.
All we really can do against these Ponzi's is educate and show presence.
They are rebranding in the moment (with us) from DRK to Dash !!
We will not get rid of them , that is for sure, but we can try our best to get a piece of their market !! And their market is HUGE !
Problem is under education, accessibility and none english of the chinese 'investors', that is how they fall into these traps.

So this article i posted is amazing, as it is officially the 1st time anybody recognised this problem in china,
we are working with the HK Press as well, and hopefully they will have a story out by next week.

Edit:
Dash joined forces with BTC HK to create these "warning Pages"
http://btcreview.info/cn/
please share !

Great Work Tungfa!   this is a very important cause.

Absolutely. Tungfa seems to be another Dash team member that never sleeps!

they call us diablo coin Huh
btw thats a cool name

The kanji most used for Darkcoin meant that, so yeah, we were diablocoin. With Dash we adopted a more active role and a few Chinese members of the community (kudos to Alexy and Raico) gave a lot of ideas to Tungfa about what kanji to use so we could start using one ourselves instead of leaving that to someone else. Our chosen one means something like 'currency to unite the world':

Btw, according to the number of messages originating from his accounts, Tungfa sleeps in intervals of 10 min for an hour a couple times a week Smiley

I don't like doing my homework and and am not very good with numbers.

Utter nonsense about Dash having bloat, I did these calculations a while back (end of January), others have seen this post before.
Please do check my numbers if you dare.

The stats used are from bitinfocharts:-

Darkcoin blockchain size = 0.5715 GigaBytes
        Days since genesis block=370 days
Average Rate of growth for blockchain per day=1.5 MegaBytes/day

quarkcoin block size = 2.4 GigaBytes
days since genesis block = 550 days
average rate of growth for blockchain per day = 4.3 MegaBytes/day

litecoin blockchain size = 3.99 GigaBytes
days since genesis block = 1201 days
average rate of growth for blockchain per day = 3.3 MegaBytes/day

dogecoin blockchain size = 8.49 GigaBytes
days since genesis block = 412 days
average rate of growth for blockchain per day = 20 MegaBytes/day

bitcoin blockchain size = 34.3 GigaBytes
days since genesis block = 2205 days
average rate of growth for blockchain = 15 MegaBytes/day

       Monero blockchain size =3.5 gigabytes
days since genesis block =303 days
average rate of growth for blockchain =11.6 megabytes/day

sure, but as discussed above this is because nobody is using Darksend.....if they were, at which point you can reasonably stand DRK alongside other anon coins, then the bloat would be there.

people bash XMR because it will bloat with real-world anon use, but so will DRK, it just isn't now because it isn't being used for real-world anon.

am i missing something?

I won't speculate on what would happen if everyone used Darksend because that is not happening right now, so it doesn't make much sense (btw, it is not nobody either, there is a significant amount of darksending going on). However, I don't agree that only if everything is darksend then we can be called anon, the solution is there and people can use it whenever they feel like it, so we are anon. I don't use PGP for my all my email and I hope you won't dare to say that PGP is not a great privacy tool only because I don't encrypt all  the cat pics I send.
99  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] Darkcoin | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW, Darksend and InstantX on: March 25, 2015, 09:44:21 AM
Over on the XMR vs DRK thread I'm having a nice civilised debate with fluffypony, XMR dev - seems like a nice guy and argues very well for the technical merits of his coin.

We covered the point of blockchain bloat, an oft cited weakness in Monero vs Darkcoin. He had this response:

"Darkcoin has a ton of bloat. In fact, if you compare a set of DarkSend transactions with a Monero transaction at a high mixin of, say, 20 you will notice that Monero's reduced scripting size makes it quite a bit smaller. If Darkcoin users start using DarkSend all the time instead of just occasionally you will experience phenomenal bloat."

Can anyone comment on this?

Evan has already talked about a way to reduce the size of the blockchain by abbreviating transactions. You can listen his explanation in the last interview he gave in Let's Talk Bitcoin:
https://letstalkbitcoin.com/blog/post/lets-talk-bitcoin-196-distortions-towards-privacy-or-many-hands-makes-light-work

Brief explanation:

Let's say you have an input that was sent from A to B, then from B to C, and finally from C to D. That is three transactions that get into the blockchain, but the only relevant thing to check for the validity of any subsequent transaction is to know that the funds are in D, so the three transactions could be summarized to from A to D. Than can be done in the masternodes, that would host a pruned version of the blockchain and a full one, to avoid losing history in case it is needed. Clients will likely be able to chose which one to use, but the specifics still need to be worked out.

Btw, that comparison was not very fair to start with. Right now, Darkcoin users don't always use Darksend, so that IF at the beginning of the sentence is very important. In the future that may change, but by then we will have the pruning mechanism, so it should not be a big deal.

Why isn't DRK changed on the exchanges yet bye the way ?

Today is the day we asked people to change, but I guess there will be some unavoidable delays and confusion for a couple days.
