well this is just more evidence for the original 2 accounts op stated:

its a very old post too, deserves to be deleted for the reflink spam on it, but take a look at the freebitco.in reflink here:
http://archive.is/AYhXR (reply #8 from wwzsocki)

and the reflink in the profile of crypto mania:
http://archive.is/T2VeH

this + the same ETH address use, im fairly confident these two accounts are controlled by the same individual.
83  Economy / Reputation / Re: [need DT] using multiple account, trading merit, self-talking, account hacking on: May 26, 2019, 03:00:58 AM
might be worth looking into these as well, seems to be a lot of merit passed amongst these accounts in particular (in addition to the two mentioned in op).

85  Economy / Reputation / Re: Someone is selling green rating (DT) on: May 24, 2019, 04:08:03 PM
I am wondering that how many user fell for it. I do not think those who got scammed  in name of merit selling and trust selling will be reporting about the scam.
No, they wouldn't expose themselves about this shady behaviour. Everyone know if they attempt to buy green trust and if its exposed then they will receive negative trust. So we can say this is a silent scam, nothing else.
No, that's retarded. If someone got scammed by a member, they can always create a new fake account to report the scam? They don't have to reveal the account that was buying the service but can always report the seller. Getting a fake account tagged wouldn't make any difference to them.
if they were to present pms (or any other means of private communication) to prove a scam occurred, their identity would be revealed to the seller, who in turn could reveal the name of the buyer's account.
86  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BitPay no longer serving banned countries on: May 24, 2019, 02:26:18 PM
~snip~

If you're using a service that uses BitPay for accepting payments, you won't be able to do so anymore.

Use VPN. It's an old news I think. You can not open their wallet if you are from any of these country however there are always a way out :-P

As I said, use VPN :-)

By the way, I do not like to use BitPay. I feel like it's following paypal business model.
im assuming bitpay involves linking a bank account to use its services; that being said, it should be pretty difficult for the average user to bypass the service blocking bank account associated with those countries. if youre using it just as a wallet, which is what i assume is the extent of your use for it given your statement, you shouldnt really be limited too much with the use of a vpn.

88  Other / Meta / Re: Improving the current ban situation on: May 21, 2019, 12:43:02 PM
But here comes the point, when is it "intentional c&p"? And in my humble opinion (intentional c&p) is what needs to be judged/banned.
How is it of any use for the forum if a member with 2000+ posts and 50+ merits over the course of 2 years or more will be punished for 2 or 1 mistakes (even if the forum-rules have to be respected) done anytime in the past?

Is any comparativeness given with 0.05% posts are to judge according to the rules?

It's almost never "2 or 1 mistakes" and it's almost never "mistakes". Appeals and sig bans can handle such rare cases but 99.9%+ of it is clear-cut copy-pasta BS. The fact that you see 1 or 2 messages presented as examples when the perp asks "show me what I copied" doesn't mean that's all there is.
if anything, the fact that one could cherrypick one of their posts at random and just do a simple search on a single sentence, and usually get a direct match, shows the majority of their posts are probably plagiarized.

In comparison with cellard case,
Bluestackz got banned today for plagiarism he did in June 2016, and he was registered member since June 2015.
Probably he was a full member or senior when he did plagiarism, so for his case a hard ban maybe reasonable

There is not much to add after what theymos said, but I just want to point out that while our attention is often captured by those high-profile cases - Legendary, DT members, etc - the vast majority of banned users are newbies and other low ranks, and that has always been the case.

Or to put another way - the fact that those older users managed to get away with it years ago should be viewed as an accident, not a free pass, and the sig ban option is already a huge privilege for them.
its only recently (2 years or so? my timeline is off, too much time off the forum) that plagiarism has gotten a lot of attention, and personally i think the second chance should be enough; the older users who are just now getting found out are incredibly unlikely to be repeat offenders, and the temp ban + sig ban is more than fair for these cases. C+p shitbots though, should definitely not be given a second chance; their sole purpose is to just spam seemingly good posts to farm activity and merit. take a look at this post that was actually plagiarized, yet was given a merit point: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5140199.msg50977961#msg50977961
if this is the end goal, these users shouldnt be shown any leniency.
89  Other / Meta / Re: A wave of bans: 400 yesterday, 300 the day before. What changed? on: May 21, 2019, 12:05:44 PM
If this is the case, then somehow I was of a better opinion of these dudes. Really, if you copy-paste some downright bullshit, you bear the risk of being banned for shitposting. That, in turn, assumes that you should be careful about what to plagiarize (and here comes my idea). Anyway, until there is a comprehensive ordered list of users most often copied by copypasters, we can't arrive at any definitive conclusion (though I do agree that it may in fact be a mostly random thing overall)
i think most of these people just look for semi relevant posts with decent english without too much regard for who theyre copying off of. a lot of the earlier cases i noticed when the forum was starting to catch onto the plagiarism problem involved them copying a reply post from 50 pages back in a megathread and just changing the formatting to make it look different. this way the post would seem relevant and constructive, but most people could catch on with smaller threads if they were reading through it.

im pretty sure its plagiarism.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5098034.msg49266115#msg49266115 (cannot quote b/c locked i guess)

You have to be aware that Bitcoin is still relatively new technology and still not so much people are familiar with it and people are usually sceptic to new things and don't trust them.
Also, many still think that Bitcoin is some kind of scam scheme and are afraid of volatility and aren't willing to accept the risk. I beleive this will change with time but we also need more education and awarness campaigns about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general.
you posting here on your alt is ban evasion. bye.

while this may be true, just because users tend to give merit more frequently in certain boards should not influence which boards you post in. post in the boards that interest you the most, its much more enjoyable.
92  Other / Meta / Re: Petition: disable "Banned from displaying..." signature and leave it blank on: May 19, 2019, 12:08:14 PM
I can't speak for this guy and I'm against his idea but the suggestion i made few days ago wasn't out of me been a spammer but I was just trying to contribute to the suggestions coming from different members of the forum.  The administratorss are experimenting better solutions to combating plagiarism and always open to suggestions. You shouldn't generalize your statement.

lets take a look here:

I think for the most part, someone who is banned from wearing a signature is probably not going to be posting very much anyway, and mostly were here solely for the signature money.
Many of the reported posts weren't even part of a sig campaign. Just accounts trying to rank activity.
i think its fair to say that these two reasons make up the majority of cases of plagiarism; account farming and sig spam.
in addition:
And as far as the hurt feelings resulting from the 'scarlet letter' sig-banned members have to wear, I don't have much sympathy for them.  They're lucky they're still able to post instead of getting a permaban.

In addition, I haven't heard any teasing or taunting yet and somehow I don't think it's really going to be an issue.  The vast majority of members here are just shitposting and wouldn't even bother to say anything negative about someone's sig message.  And I mean, come on.  This forum is freakin' brutal enough as it is.  If you don't have a thick skin, this isn't the forum for you.
i fully agree with this point, so  to follow, a proposal that i believe i havent seen yet:
remember that timer between posts? it requires you to wait 360 seconds between a post / pm / report for a newbie, and 4 seconds for hero members and up iirc. this is probably one of the most annoying things for actual users to go through as a newer member, so why not force this massive inconvenience onto plagiarizers? give them a special timer, something crippling, like 30 minutes (or even an hour) between actions on the forum.

i dont think this is a perfect solution by any means, but its an alternative that came to mind just now.
93  Economy / Reputation / Re: korean translation SCAMMER [TAG please] on: May 18, 2019, 01:47:23 AM
the translation org 'crypto korea' has contacted me, and it seems levi001 is indeed stealing their work. neg away.
94  Economy / Reputation / Re: korean translation SCAMMER [TAG please] on: May 16, 2019, 11:28:27 AM
Please shift this thread to "Reputation" board.

Also, without any proof that his translation work is fake, it doesn't matter if he is a Nigerian or not.
more so than fake translation, hes more accusing this user of plagiarizing others' already translated work in their own portfolios to fake their work history and credibility.
my guess is that levi went around and downloaded translated whitepapers, wtc and uploaded them onto his own google drive document located here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1zu4sspPIbIRAk8dImlaKK_scAZyxX2Na0CNetdLiwkM/edit#gid=0
archive : https://archive.fo/0yXP3

If you take a few minutes to look, every one of those translated papers on this 'portfolio' are papers that were translated by this group: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5070398
im contacting user ico blog to make sure thats the case, ill update this whenever.

that aside, im familiar with black_gloves as a native speaker; i can usually spot blatant google translate fakes but hes usually better with it than i am.
95  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I'm against cloud miners. My arguments on: May 15, 2019, 10:09:34 AM
Some of the cloudmining services out there like Hashnest aren't too bad IMO, Hashnest tells you the daily maintenance rate for the miners they sell and they also provide a neat chart to view past earnings for miners per TH in the case of SHA256, and things mostly go smoothly over there. Last time I checked you can also redeem the miners when they become unprofitable if you have enough of the contracts for a specific miner so you can get physical hardware afterwards as well. There's definitely better ways to invest your coins out there though.
cex.io used to do this back when they were an actual cloud mining company, and it was a huge factor in proving their legitimacy. unfortunately a legitimate operation proved unprofitable as the difficulty rose, so its not really a thing anymore. most of the current running services are well disguised ponzis.

At first, I felt sorry about these people. But after I've found out what cloud mining is, I started to think, that their loss is just their fault. Cloud miners services offer you to buy mining power. That's alright. Also, they say, when your account profitability turns negative, a system closes your account automatically. That's fair too - your account should profit.
thats just fucking shady, the moment a system determines your account doesn't profit, they just cut you off without an option? huge red flag.

But that is the stumbling block between users and cloud mining services. Users think that they've scammed when their account just stopped making a profit. But some users start flooding saying that one or another company is a scam and nobody should trust it.
to be fair, im sure the majority of the people that buy into cloud mining dont even bother to research the service's legitimacy and are pouring money into a ponzi, but there is the off chance that the operation legitimately is not profitable anymore. but the former is far more likely with the lack of legitimate services out there.

They spoil the reputation of good products. Just because they were too stupid to read a contract. I have nothing left to say. I don't understand these people!
just because they failed to read the terms doesnt mean the terms were fair.

I havent kept up with the bitcoin community and news as closely as I have done in the past, but cloud mining is generally unprofitable and most operations should automatically be dismissed as a disguised ponzi, in my honest opinion. Any shows of
maintenance fees,; upkeep costs, etc. can easily be faked with a few scripts. in addition, basic pictures of mining farms can be faked too. i personally never recommend anyone to go for cloud mining, especially since these operations usually run purely off bitcoin, its fairly easy for these scammers to set up and tear down. no licenses for bank transfers involved either, so legally, they can just appear overnight and start operating without any real setup or liability.
96  Other / Meta / Re: You are searching too quickly. Reduce search 90 seconds limit? on: May 13, 2019, 01:02:58 PM
Hi,

The forum do not let you search faster than one search every 90 seconds. I understand this is to save server resources and there is Google’s search as a fallback.

This is the error message you get:
Quote
You are searching too quickly. Wait 90 seconds. (There is a Google-based search engine on the search page that does not have this limit.)

Yet I wanted to do some research about the volume of post using certain kind of wording. Google is not suitable for that (I need tho be able to copy the date from a table to put it in excel so I can run some stat). You can imagine that having to wait 90 seconds not only for each research (I can live with that) but also to browse the result (going to the next page research also have the 90 seconds limit) is a pain.

It's possible to change this limit to something a bit more acceptable like 5 seconds? The best would be to have a limit that growth with each succeeding research (i.e. 0.5 and then exponentially growth the limit for each research)  and reset every 60 seconds but I understand this is a bit overkill to implement.
its not so much as to save server resources as is to prevent new accounts from being used to ddos the servers, which has happened before. just be happy its only 90 seconds, it used to be 6 minutes between a search / report / post / pm action for newbies not too long ago. im guessing that limit has been changed in the time ive been off the forum.

you can type in korean if it's more comfortable for you, i have no problem reading it, i just dont have a korean keyboard.

its a combination of things, the commentary you include is 1 or 2 sentences at most in most cases, and not enough to justify copy + pasting multiple articles a day. that and the daily threads come close to spam, maybe consider opening a daily coin news thread instead and making posts in there instead of creating a new thread every day. there was a point where your threads took up half of the first page and they were all daily coin news threads.

posting a link to the articles should be fine for discussion, but try not to copy paste the article's complete text in your posts. the forum is cracking down on copy pasters and banning users permanently. i don't want you to get banned for a small mistake.

i understand why you think it's justifiable, and this would have been totally fine a year or so ago. however, i don't make the forum's rules. i'm just trying to explain to you why your posts went against the forum's rules.

and yes, the korean local board is mostly dead, and very few people post here, but that doesn't excuse the posters from the rules. i would rather not have the few people who actually post here with good intentions to get banned over this.

as for the 1-2 lines of commentary, like i said earlier it might have been accepted a long time ago, but as of now the forum has a big problem with copy + pasting, and the moderators can't get them all. some inevitably get away with it. as for those you see doing the same thing, you can report them if you like, but don't take their example to think that it doesn't go against the forum rules.

posting news itself doesn't go against the rules, but creating a new thread about it every day could be counted as spam. like i suggested earlier, consider creating one thread with daily updates to it instead of making a new thread every day.

sorry if i misunderstood something you might have said, my reading is pretty bad.

Hello.
Posting an article is not plagiarism, is it? All sources are revealed. I also post my comments about the article.
