There is only one temp sensor on this card and it shows at the above temps mentioned. I've adapted a small case fan to blow on VRAM now that the crappy shroud is out of the way. That also works.  |

One way to look at it, a manufacturer will jump through hoops to reduce the cost of production. Why would the bear the cost of useless plastic?

If you have the double fans the plastic doesn't do much. The single fan cards usually need it to direct airflow properly. Still depends on the heatsink/heatpipe design. YMMV.

For the dumb here's information on the 14nm process. None of the big boys have started mass producing any. They are still in the lab. There's no way these guys have access to 14nm. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/14_nanometerThey don't claim to have it. They claim to be designing one, and be ready when mass production begins. Its not about DESIGNING it. I could design a 4nm chip [no I couldn't] and have it all perfectly laid out. Doesn't matter though because no one can fucking build it for 10 years. Ding ding ding.
