More favorable press for bitcoin:

Namecheap just announced they accept bitcoin as payment:

No, I think he's trying to explain that the people who have one are mining like crazy right now and making tons of BTC.

There's lots of great stuff you can buy and sell right here on bitcointalk.org

31 is only 3300 pizzas from being eaten
Unless each pizza is 10,000 BTC!
86  Economy / Speculation / Re: $30 is the new $5 on: February 22, 2013, 03:15:45 PM
I meant EUR (and other conventional currencies) selling off... and piling into BTC duh, which mysteriously concurs with the OP's forecast Cheesy
Ok! Sorry if it sounded like a BTC selloff. Here's to BTC being worth more than 25 EUR on April 1st!
87  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My Impression of Avalon Machine on: February 22, 2013, 03:09:33 PM
Thanks for the great review!
88  Economy / Speculation / Re: [Poll] Where are we in the Investor's Emotion Cycle? on: February 22, 2013, 03:04:31 PM
If nobody turns up offering a MtGox/BitStamp/BTC-E database, I think we should build one. Would anyone like to contribute?

It wouldn't help with data before we start capturing, but it could be useful in the future...
89  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why does the mt gox ask wall always look the same? on: February 22, 2013, 03:02:21 PM
OTC trading is also seeing heavy buy pressure.

There's something to be said for an alternate currency. Let's make a generic term, "altcoin," to refer to your proposal.

For one thing, it helps people mentally separate the concept of a crypto-currency from bitcoin in particular. It also helps in case there's a huge exploit of bitcoin and everyone is fleeing: at least they can flee to another altcoin instead of back to fiat.

But consider the problem of capitalization: so much time, effort, and money has gone into bitcoin that all the altcoins together have no effect on bitcoin. Most of that capital invested into bitcoin cannot be recovered. I just want to point that out – I wish you luck in creating an altcoin but be aware of the implied investment of capital you're talking about. How are you going to convince people to invest?

That's interesting... I read in the tea leaves that there's a lot of downward pressure on the EUR -- some "descending triangles" all suggesting a sell-off in the "end of March" ballpark.

Looks like April Fool's Day might be pretty big this year. Damn Illuminati and their ridiculous obsession with crowd-pleasing symbolism Roll Eyes ...  Cheesy
Subscribed to come back on April 1 and see how your tea leaves are doing.

Just out of curiosity, blablahblah: do you hold a position in BTC or are you all cashed out to fiat right now?
92  Other / Off-topic / Re: Yawn. Tesla Motors reveals that the NYT did a hatchet job on their Model S on: February 15, 2013, 09:12:43 AM
CNN jumps in on Tesla's side: http://money.cnn.com/2013/02/15/autos/tesla-model-s/

And the NYT Author, Broder: http://wheels.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/02/14/that-tesla-data-what-it-says-and-what-it-doesnt/ (but I suggest you ignore this link, he's just trying to get attention)
93  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin transaction Fee imposition on: February 14, 2013, 08:20:41 PM
There is also anti-spam protection. If you're trying to move small amounts of coin around, you need to wait longer between receiving the coins into a wallet and then sending them out of the wallet.

Electrum definitely allows you to set the transaction fee, including no fee. The default is just a preference in the Wallet tab of your preferences.
94  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: February 14, 2013, 08:17:47 PM
Nobody can fully explain movements in the exchange rate of BTC / USD. If you truly knew what led to the current price you would be able to make boatloads of BTC by extrapolating that knowledge to the future.
95  Other / Off-topic / Re: Yawn. Tesla Motors reveals that the NYT did a hatchet job on their Model S on: February 14, 2013, 08:11:08 PM
Heh. NYT is supposed to be one of those reliable sources of news. Except that stopped happening about 15 years ago in the name of more profits.

In this case it's just the reporters personal bias and trying to drum up pageviews, which is why I linked to Tesla's blog post and not the NYT piece.

Honestly I think it's just coinbase starting to gain traction.
97  Other / Politics & Society / Re: State of the Union: Obama plans to control and ruin 3d printing. on: February 14, 2013, 07:58:58 PM
It always amazes me that people in Democrat-controlled states are so excited about Obama. They always seem to point to the Republican failures and that makes them feel good.

I suppose the strategy of pitting us against each other is working. If you're in an "R" state you're supposed to hate on the D's but never think for yourself. Smiley

Don't let them divide and conquer. Think for yourself.

100  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are ASIC's worth the investment? on: February 14, 2013, 07:41:12 PM
Exactly.

Every purchase is a tradeoff of lost opportunities. (Known as "opportunity cost")

Buying an ASIC might seem simple, but currently there aren't that many ASICs available. This complicates things.

Even speculating on the exchange rate of BTC to fiat currency is "not simple." Everything has a tradeoff.
